Shoma Uno interview from Figure Skate Life Vol.3

I thought that there are some very interesting things in this.

I agree with him and think that his SP is not quite there yet. Maybe that's one of the reasons why the public reception is polarizing. He has the skills to skate the program, but still working on performing the program. He has yet to sell it to the audience. I'm glad he keeps looking at videos of Dai, because he was THE master of performing any kind of program. Shoma's expression range so far blends very well with his dramatic FS, but I think his SP is missing more fire, more power. It's still early in the season so I'm glad he keeps looking for ways to improve.

It would be incredible to be a skater who can bring joy to the audience with their performances.
I think he already is. There are still plenty of things to improve, but he's only 17 (18 soon) and he's already way ahead of skaters his own age.

Just found this old pic of young Shoma and Dai...so cute! :luv17: I am a new fan of Shoma- I watched him for the first time at Skate America and found myself drawn to his performance in such a way that has not happened since I first watched Daisuke (Takahashi) years ago. So happy to find another male skater I can root for in the coming years!

Hi! I love Shoma! Nessun Dorma is perfect for him. I just identify the music with him now a lot more than I ever did with Shizuka.

Do any of you notice that he sort of touches his butt/leg a lot while skating, though? My mom pointed it out to me when I was showing her videos of him lol. Especially in the FS. I know he does this during his cantilever spread eagle, but I thought that he did it just to help himself stay up. But then I noticed it in other parts where he's standing upright as well.

wow he was so cute as a little kid!!

why was his hair brown back then? is he mixed? O:

Actually my hair was light brown and not so thick when I was a baby, and my mother was told that I looked like a mixed. But it changed as growing up, and now I have thick raven black hair. This sometimes happens with the color of eyes.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing Shoma's great performances again. Good luck, Shoma :cheer:

How is it that he looks like a cute pre-teen when he's skating...but in these "candid" shots/videos else looks completely like a typical 17 year old guy, especially in his mannerisms. Lol

Yes, he is. :2thumbs: Don't understand a word obviously, but is it my imagine or is he starting to seem a little more at ease with the media?

Anyway, my stomach is in knots for the SP. Go, Shoma!

shoma's sp was so good! he's 1 right now, even ahead of Patrick, and he'll probably stay there honestly. so happy for him!

Oh, well done, Shoma! He seized that chance and got the win in the SP! :hap93:

Now keep calm and slay tomorrow! :cheer:
