Well I skate a little (badly!) and that helps with the knowledge base!

Chris Howarth's bio is the first one in the link I gave above - he's the skating director at Glacier.

Have fun in beautiful Canada!

I love our big, burly northern neighbor. Canada is the best!...I may have to take a drive over to Glacier and hope for a possible Shoma sighting! :laugh2:

Thanks guys for all the update and information! Finally i can see Shoma in US and Arriba seems to be able to identify the place.

I

I don’t think you’re crazy at all. I think a lot of skating fans stay away from forums for the same reason but I think that's why the Fan Fests section exists :ghug:

I basically see the Edge as a place for haters. GS offers the place to complain about something or criticize someone. I try to stay away from it, since i know i feel unpleasant to offensive comments there.
But look at Shoma! He doesn’t even know what people are gushing over in such a small community! He enjoys his life and just keeps doing what he should do every day. The discussion/criticisms people do taking their time doesn’t affect skaters at all.
I wish fan thread keeps safe and peaceful place.:ghug: If someone comes here only to criticize him or his techniques without any love, i would say "Go anywhere and discuss it as much as you like there. This is Shoma's fan thread. We come here to have fan, to share photos, videos, information, to cheer up for and support him. "

This situation is SO funny to me. I have been guessing places all over the U.S. where Shoma might be, and where is he? About 20 miles or 30 minutes from where I live! And from what little I've seen of Tomoki's coach, I really like him! Tomoki won U.S.Junior Nationals last year and is making a lot of progress. I am encouraged that there seems to be a plan for helping Shoma improve. And the place where he is training (if it IS in fact Glacier) has a great staff that has many different specialties (jump technique, choreo, ballet).

There are many skaters that I dislike ( or I don't enjoy), but I still try to show them respect because most of them work so hard and their families make such sacrifices (both monetarily and in their family lives)...And speaking of hard work, thank you again for your efforts on that long translation. That was a difficult one, I'm sure.

Thank you for your vivid report! Im soooooo happy Shoma is in such a great circumstance and shall have many fruitful experiences there. He stays there until around July 10? I hope he will as long as possible. He is among many boys and girls. He can communicate well with them and coaches? Anyway, hs fine face relieves me so much.
(BTW, how’s the current climate there? Here in Tokyo it is already hot and I guess it’s so in his Nagoya region.)
Further, what a coincidence Shoma goes to your area, although US is pretty large country! I hope I can see Tomoki in international field more!

About my work, no pleasure! Japanese has totally different syntax from English, and it’s subtle nuance is always difficult to translate. Anyway, the work was very fun. Like mikaboo, I do only with texts which interest me. (This time, my point was he did golf when he was only 2 and a half years!)

It's confirmed Shoma is at Glacier Ice Arena.
He got personalized Ice Dogs jersey from the Glacier staff. And moving Shoma!!

Thank you to both for the good news.
What a nice gesture to welcome him with a team jersey. It looks huge on him, but still very nice of them!

And he looks genuinely happy! What a prestigious thing for Glacier to have him there. And I think those other kids were probably novice level. They were probably so happy to be able to get to know him. I'm sure he inspired them. Hope that wasn't his "good bye" present.

The thought did cross my mind that all these photos have started to come out because he's leaving soon or has already left. But it's not July yet!
And I also have a feeling that the Japanese TV crew might have filmed him, at least for one day, while he was there for their new season's GP series fluff. I kind of hope so, but kind of not (because those fluffs are so repetitious).

Very smart move to keep all the details quiet so people would leave him alone. I think probably he and his brother will fit together in the same shirt!!!]Today is a great day. Shoma's thread hit 100 pages (on my birthday! Good present!) Seems like maybe he will leave soon though. Darn.

Yes! Another winner from lilico! So nice! Thank you. And thank you to you Mrs. Piggy for the b'day greetings!:thank: I just love the two video clips at Glacier of the jumps and the hockey jersey. I am sure they really enjoyed having him there! I am SO anxious to learn what he thought of the experience.

happy happy birthday, Arriba! :cheer:

the countdown for gs assignment!:drama:

Thank you for the b'day greetings. You are so kind!...The countdown goes on!:gaah::tantrum: And now there is another good reason to hope Shoma gets Skate America. After the competition, if he would want to continue to train more with Coach Alex, he would easily be able to do that. The arena and Glacier are in the same general area. I hope the experience was good for him...I am so curious how they chose Coach Alex. I wonder if someone (Coach Yamada?) knows him, if they talked to the Hiwatashi's, or what!

Hmm... that's remarkable. To see his photo, i find he's had a wonderful time there. Is it the first time of his long stay in abroad alone? (A member of team Yamada has been to there together?) Shoma is so shy, but truly kind-hearted guy who never offends someone. I think he can get along well with anyone else.

I am sooooo sorry. The last one is Ten Denis.:sad4::bow::bang::bang::bang:

Dont worry! Thanks always for your lovely posts! :agree:
