Max has good taste! :luv17: I'll miss the pretty red shirt with the diamond shape pattern, but this new costume is beautiful and is wonderful for Shoma! It creates a little longer line for him and maybe makes him look ever-so-slightly (!?) taller. Uh oh, was Shoma trying out his English? My guess is they were speaking Englipanese.:agree:

Englipanese! Max and his coach are truly nice guys! They spoked to this shy shoma and he replied with smile! They must have managed to understand him! How sweet! Love to see such kind of interaction.

We have assumed his costume would be v neck nine out of ten! He's added a new pattern of costume!😃

Missing you Hamaguri! :sad4: Good to "see" you...At yesterday's practice, it looked like Shoma had the messy/no hair wax look. Maybe it looked better! Thought he maybe had left the hair wax at home! :luv17: The costume is beautiful. Pretty surprising that it's only a small V!

Program was ok for a first outing. I was watching it live at 7:45 am our time. I am CRAZY about the music. I know everyone in Japan says "Oh no, Ladies in Lavender". True confessions -- When I heard he was skating to L. in L., I knew the movie but didn't know what the music was. So, I am not bored with it, nor do I consider it a war horse. I always feel that no particular person owns any song! I'm weird like that! The only American I can find who ever skated to that music was Karen Chen.

Darn, I want the blur spin to be his final spin! Maybe he'll do it at Skate America. He still has work to do before SA, but the program looked very polished in comparison to most of the other skaters....Loved Mihoko sensei's fedora look. Looks like she got that from Frank Carroll. :luv17:

Oh, sorry for my long time rest again! Thanks for sweet comments! Now I'm almost back and can enjoy figure skating!

About costume, I first thought the frill of shaded purple was sweat! Lol but mostly this is exquisite!

Ive never watched the movie. Most Japanese figure skating fans must remember tatsuki or Mao to listen to this piece. Especially tatsuki left a huge impact with it. Further, I hear it as bgm sometimes on tv or so. I guess that's why Japanese fans are familiar with it and feels it a war horse although I don't know well how many Japanese skated with it.

Which is blur spin?

Frank is already over 70? I'm impressed with his sense. Further, I always feel Mihoko sensei must take a long time to do makeup for camera at kiss and cry. Her makeup is perfect!:laugh2:

How do you feel about it? It's Stephane's program except that cantilever eagle! I can easily imagine him skating. Further, who is the men vocal? Piaf's voice seems inserted. I love chanson, but at the same time this genre is difficult for Japanese, especially young, since they need some kind of maturity like wine. Anyway, there must have been a reason why he picked up this piece for shoma. I'm looking forward to seeing this program growing on me this season!

I love La Vie En Rose (sung by Andrea Bocelli) and can see how Stephane's influence is bringing out a completely different side of Shoma. His smooth, effortless flow across the ice is gorgeous! What an off-season for Shoma -- 2 new Ex's, new SP and extremely challenging FS, 30+ ice shows, intense training with Stephane, and 3 weeks training in the U.S.! Wow!

I love it too when I see friendships develop between skaters. I think Jason's speaking Japanese is helping him to form a friendship with Shoma. And Max was so funny looking at Shoma's costume! Actually Max would look awesome in a costume similar to Shoma's FS costume! BTW, I met Max at Nationals last year, and he is the NICEST guy!

The blur spin is the final spin here. This is not a good one though because he "travels". https://www.instagram.com/p/BJPva1thByi/ Love the SP and can really see the potential for the FS. The FS costume - wow! No words! Love it! And I also love the new, S-M-I-L-I-N-G Shoma coming out onto the ice for his programs with a huge smile. Maybe Stephane told him he should do that?!

Yes, Mihoko sensei is so amazing! I am always trying to see her beautiful nails!...Frank Carroll is 78 years old.

Japan Open Saturday, and only 22 days, 8 hours, and 50 minutes to Skate America!!!!

ETA - and how could I forget Autumn Classic?!

Video should be available in about 3 hours.

Wow! I guess Judge #3 really liked Shoma kun's interpretation of the music. Have to see what country he/she is from!

ETA Ha! Ha! Surprise - Judge #3 is from the USA.

I remember last year, someone was saying that one of the judges must be Shoma's mom because s/he seemed to like him a lot. Turns out that the judge was Australian ;) Afaik, competitions organized by JSF have never had anonymous judging.

Darn - we should have checked to see if any of the judges looked like Bambi. She could have been his mother!!!! Judge #1 definitely wasn't his mother. Wow - she was really tough on him! (from Mexico).
