Thanks!
Im jelous of you. I wannt to go back to school. Cherish your school life now. The memory’ll be shining all your life:).

I'll cheer extra loudly for Shoma for you too. I am going to Skate Canada too. Maybe I need to get some Pooh ears!? :handw:

Aww you guys are sweet. Thank you!! And Arriba if you want to get Pooh ears you can order them on Amazon. I have put mine away until the Olympics if I'm lucky enough to get tickets lol.

So at least they aired the men's skating live so I got to message with my friend the whole time and she was giving me the play by play. She really enjoyed the event! We're both big fans of Muse so she got emotional when Voronov skated so well. And I'm SO glad you guys got to see Shoma skate so well! I have to say that the voice in the program doesn't even bother me anymore! I'm so excited that he's off to a solid start. I hope he can maintain this momentum all season. It'll be a crime if he doesn't have a world medal around his neck by the end. GO SHOMA!!! :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Great skate. He really has the attitude for tango, hit the notes etc.. Both Carol Lane and Kurt Browning were in love with his skating skills, steps, speed. They were gushing.

Edit to add: Kurt almost gasped a couple of times and during his step sequence even said that Toller Cranston would be loving that... high praise indeed.

I would like to watch CBC and NBC commentary of Shoma. Hope we can have videos soon.

Johnny, Tara, and "Terrence" were loving him!! I wish I recorded it, but I'm sure someone will put it up again. I found one that has english commentary but it sounds like Michael Weiss. Was it Universal Sports? Or Ice Network? I really want to see B.ESP commentary. I love their comments:

Wow... That's all I can say. I absolutely love his FP. He oozes sophistication and it's great that he's showing more maturity on the ice. His jumps were incredible and I'm gutted for him about the axel. I'm really hoping he does well this season and achieves all his goals. My prediction is that he'll break the 200 point marker in the FP and possibly 300 point overall? I think it is certainly doable. Hope he gets a good amount of rest now and I'm wishing him all the best for Russia.

It would not surprise me. This year is a huge step up from last year...even from just a few weeks ago. Just amazing. So many details in that program. He was always connecting something to something else, hitting this note or that... that program felt very full of "stuff" to me. Loved it... even the vocals have grown on me.

I had heard that B ESP guys weren't doing SA commentary but am happy to see some You Tubes already loaded with their commentary. So I was wrong (and very glad that I was!) Also love CBC so can't wait to hear them.

Congratulations Shoma the Showman!

Thanks Arriba for detailed reports and videos&photos about him.
I really enjoyed reading from you! :)

Well, today this little Prince became a King! What a skate! So proud of Shoma. I have so many thoughts going through my head, I don't even know what to write first. For all the people who thought he was going to be the same Shoma they saw in Boston, I knew they would be in for a big surprise. I know most people weren't keeping up with his training and changes he was making, but I think they saw the evidence today. For now, just thought I would post these photos even though they are not the best quality. I was sitting in the "lucky" section. After the medal ceremony, he came right to the end section where I was sitting. He was so nice, and everyone was just going crazy taking photos, trying to get autographs, etc.! He couldn't stop smiling.

Too bad on his fall during the FS, but I think it's gonna be tough to have 3 quads plus the 3 jump combo. Hate to see him miss the combo (3A, 1Lo, 3F) since it's a huge point getter in the second half of the program...He wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire this morning in his 7 am practice, but I figured he would be ready when it was time for the REAL thing! Even in the six minute warm up, he was making me a little nervous.

He skated his See You Again EX and got huge applause, especially during the cantilever. So happy for him. And he looked SO happy.

I think it was Machiko Yamada who said that Shoma is scared of his mom so he tried to get Machiko to scold his mom when he was little
I'm surprised that Itsuki went to Skate America as well. I don't think it's the school holidays yet but it must be a good experience for him too.

That is so funny that he was scared of his mom. And he may still be! :scratch2: As best as I could tell, when I saw him at Glacier he called out to his mom, and she answered and I heard a number. I think he was asking how much ice time he had left. Then at a certain point, she made a circular motion with her hand which must have meant "Do your spins!" because he started doing spins right away!...Interesting that Itsuki would come. Wonder what he is doing here, since most of the time is spent with all the skating activity.

At least, he was playing soccer with shoma here at parking place.

Thanks! He seemed relaxed than in Boston, right? In the article above, he realized he had been too serious at Worlds and knew “enjoy seriously” was important. He realized the tension of competitions which he wants to elude is the thing he can taste during his skater days and must enjoy it. This time he comes to control him mind better.

Yes, he changes a lot. This music felt a challenge when we knew it at the first time, but as for me, i love this program. It is fresh among the typical taste of programs and his interpretation is so nice. It never bores me

He got a lot of present. He is small in the tall guys, but he doesn't look small when he was on the ice. Once he starts, his movements captures my mind. And after the performance, he is back to shy and 18 yo shoma.

And i feel graceful to the audience here. They are so warm and supported him so much. They really love figure skating and appreciate a nice performance despite a skater’s nation. Further, US guys this time are also wonderful. The interaction between them is a fruitful experience for young shoma and must have learned a lot from them.

skate America is over... It’s like sadness after a festival. Since the announcement of GS assignment, we had been looking forward to it. But i must remember GS series is going on and you are going to skate Canad next week. Have a good rest and enjoy your trip! And again thank you so much for your reports. Especially, watching practice session for the first time must have been fun for you!

Shoma wasnt good at the jet lag between US at all and often fell on the bed with his shoes on right after practices. This time , he’s moved to US earlier (on 13th day)and coped with the program. In the daytime he did sports very much going pool and gym and played soccer with his brother at the parking place. It worked well and on the day of FS his body moved so much.

This information is so interesting to me. It shows that they gave thought to the problem of jet lag and how they should help Shoma cope with it. I think we are finally seeing what we hoped for -- a plan for how to help him improve, whether it's technical or artistic elements or his mental state. It probably helped relieve stress to have his brother with him.

I think he dealt with everything very well -- practices, stress, the press, jet lag. He looks great on the ice and definitely looks more mature. It makes me laugh though - the minute he puts on his jacket, he looks like a little kid again. After seeing both of his costumes up close, I can verify that they are both gorgeous. That FS costume is beautiful!

The audience gave him a very, very warm reception and was so appreciative of his efforts. There were many Japanese fans in attendance. I'm sure many of them came to see Mao...I had a wonderful moment today - I was in the lobby of the arena and saw the lady from Tokyo whom I sat next to in Boston for Worlds! I couldn't believe my eyes! She didn't remember me at first, but then she said, "Oh yes! You're the one who is a big fan of Shoma!" We hugged each other and she introduced me to some of her family members.

I do feel sad that it is over, but I'm really exhausted. I need to rest now before I go to Canada! Thanks for following along on my journey and listening to my ramblings! :drama:

the nice scene from Jason's thread
shoma when Jason was called "Jason, Jason, Jason...". Shoma laughed a lot forgetting that he also had been called.
https://twitter.com/tigerlily4lo/status/790314787032805376

This was SO funny! We were howling! But it wasn't only Jason -- Adam and Shoma had to be prodded to get off the ice too. Of course there were so many fans who wanted photos, autographs, etc. I was in the "lucky" section. Shoma came to our section. I posted some photos of him in his Fan Fest. They're not great quality but are fun...Of course Jason was the worst of the 3! I think he had a lot of his local fans there, and they just wouldn't let him get away. They needed to get started on the rehearsal for the gala. You gotta just love Jason.

I haven't checked yet, but my HD recorder should have a recording of Shoma's SP and FS with optional Dutch commentary from Eurosport. Thee may be some nice comments in there. If there is interest, I can check it out and report back with the comments, hopefully tonight.
