Shoma has written on his blog that he will get a new costume for both his short program and his free skate!!!! :sad21:
I don't mind the SP but the free costume was divine. Anyways, i am curious to see
 
Yeah, I also loved the free costume. Cannot imagine an improvement. While I love the purple pants, I'm not the biggest fan of his lavender shirt. But both costumes fit their respective programs so well, I'm not sure that the new ones will improve. But maybe Shoma has grown and needs new costumes? I read somewhere that costumes are very expensive so there must be a reason, other than style, I guess.

True. But I think I read somewhere that his mom makes all his costumes? So maybe that helps a bit with cost. Also, if she made his fs costume this season, I'm very impressed.
 
No! Say it isn't so! :sad4: :sad4: (more crying) I'm not ready to say good-bye to his thigh-hugging, butt-gripping purple pants. Oh, there's no justice! Can't even imagine why they would think about changing the FS costume, but maybe it's good sometimes to shake things up a bit. I'd be shocked if his mom makes his costumes, because they're pretty elaborate with all the beading, tucks, and this year's has the Swarowski crystals. Wouldn't surprise me if she approves the designs though. I wonder if the trip to Canada had something to do with costumes?

Well, to console myself, I keep looking at the cool surprise I found in my mailbox yesterday. https://pic.twitter.com/IjxloZE2Ah Last year after Worlds, someone here on GS suggested people send notes of encouragement to their favorite skaters who maybe were disappointed in their results. So last April, I sent Shoma a short note through the Federation, and yesterday I got this postcard. Kinda generic, but I really like it. He looks like he has a secret and is trying not to laugh about it. (Maybe this is another good photo for our captions! :) )

Very nice photo of Shoma! For a caption how about "wait until next year".

My thoughts on Shoma getting new costumes is simple, heck he is the National Champion
now and what better way to celebrate that well deserved victory! :dance3:
 
Love the cheeky look. He looks like he is scheming. Take over the figure skating world or hatching a masterful plan to win the Olympics. Haha!

:jaw: Wow! Those are amazing costumes -- I recognized Marin Honda's "Smile" and "Romeo and Juliet" right away. Looking again I see 2 of Satoko's beautiful costumes too. Thx for posting that.

ETA -- I see the price on one of the ready-to-wear costumes is 91,800 yen, or approximately $800. Can't even imagine what the custom-made costumes cost. They are gorgeous though.

I love the free outfit... sad to see it go. Wonder what other vision they have for the program..... Glad about the short one, though. To me it is not memorable.

I wanted to know if there was some language barrier between them, if shoma understood what Alex said immediately. But it seems I have nothing to worry about it. He seemed comfortable in the practice there and felt that he got the certain result.

Gracie is so lovely! I was deeply moved by her comments this time (she referred to Chicago training and a bit shoma.). I saw her win at NHK cup with Daisu. I just wish she will recover herself at US Nationals! (Oh, US Nationals finally comes! Actually, I got more nervous than JPN. Nats!)

He says the training Chicago was so hard also this time! But his goal is keeping his condition from going bad towards the latter half of this season, so he was going to try the different way of adjustment than before. He says thanks to this training camp he felt as if he started the season newly.
He wants to cherish every single day to finish his remaining competitions with smile. He says thanks to fan’s continuous supports.

Just watched his new SP costume at Medal Winners Gala.
Blue-gray or blue-purple v-neck blouse and black pants.
(I watched the show on TV so I'm not sure about the exact color.)
He looked slim in the new costume. I love it.

AND he tried 4 loop in the SP and made it!
A little bit underrotated but was beautiful jump.

On one hand I'm happy that he is constantly challenging himself - on the other I'm worried about his consistency. I wish he would concentrate on skating clean instead of ramping up the difficulties. But it is his career and I will cheer for him, no matter what.

And what about the combo in SP? Is it 4F+3T or the old 4T+3T?
 
Ok, I'm officially done mourning the death of the purple pants. This costume looks very beautiful and looks more blue than purple. But oh no, are we back to the V neck? :drama: At least it's not the dreaded deep V. The black pants look much better. :scard7:
