Omedeto on your bronze medal my favourite crazy kid! :clapper:

It might not have been what he aimed for, but it was still a commendable performance, especially that 4Lo. Very impressive! This outcome might be good for his mindset. I'm sure now he's really riled up for Worlds and having succeeded at the 4Lo at his very 1st attempt in competition should be an additional confidence booster. I'm so amazed at which rate Shoma keeps improving all the time. His potential is through the roof!

I agree with SuzyQ - who needs that unnecessary distraction of AWG? Hopefully he saves his energy for the important competition!

Isn't the next comp very soon?

Yeah, the opening ceremony is today - the men's SP on the 24th.

Just don't become the Bronze Guy now. I hope everyone focuses on Nathan vs.Yuzuru at Worlds and Shoma can sneak the Gold. Hehehe...

He'll sneak his way up unnoticed. :agree:

I was so shocked by him landing his 4Lo (with higher GOE than Yuzuru!) that I forgot to celebrate the lack of dead chicken.

Congrats to Shoma for his Bronze Medal and for breaking the 4CC curse. Good for him for putting the 4Loop in and landing it beautifully. To bad about the falls.
I slept through the entire men's competition, my bad, it was a tough week at work.

Is there a video of Shoma's FS?

Many congrats to Shoma for landing 4 quads, incl 4L!!! and winning the Bronze medal at 4CC. Isn't his very first medal of the Senior Championships?! :yahoo::hb::points::hap93:

I was watching Mens Free on TV, and the final group was INSANE/UNBELIEVABLE; the boys going for a qaud after quad I was deadly exhausted just watching... :dbana:

Thanks deedee! Good job from Shoma, landed all his quads and his 4Loop was gorgeous! :hap10:

Isn't Grand Prix Final considered as ISU Championship? If not, then obviously yes

The 4Lo and 4F were spectacular!
Shoma can be such a badass!

BTW does anybody know where to download his 4CC SP (preferably in HD)? It seems that it's been banned on youtube.

This quad loop was BOSS or what!!!!????

also want to paste the very nice comments from Mark Hanretty about Shoma's PCS that I put in the 4cont thread:

https://youtu.be/ejYvNHLi4Ak?t=1m38s

https://youtu.be/ejYvNHLi4Ak?t=5m27s

https://youtu.be/ejYvNHLi4Ak?t=6m12s

I'm actually having a blast responding to the anti-Shoma posts in the Competition thread. I would've opted out a long time ago, but now I think those stupid statements need stupid answers.

Shomo Uno derserves 10 on interpretation. If he had landed both axels, that program would be a classic (and that's despite the music!).

edit - I think his GPF version is already, but with that 4loop...

:peace: :cheer: :dance3:  Congratulations to Shoma for his bronze medal! I'm sure it's kuyashii time due to the failure of his 3As, especially on the 3 jump combo. He has a lot to be proud of though. I'm still remembering the beautiful monster 3A from the SP, that glorious 4Lo, and his amazing expression and step sequences. My guess is that he does not like being Mr. Bronze Medalist, and I certainly don't want him to become the Anna Pogo of the men! Hopefully he doesn't go straight from the airport to the practice rink when he gets home! Isn't it wonderful that this season he has medaled in all of his competitions! The count is now 3 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze. Wow!

Has anyone posted his new EX that was choreographed by David Wilson? Here it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Mt3Q_dtBRY

Shoma in that EX is so damn sexy

I'm so glad you said that, cos I was thinking the same thing! :laugh2: I was waiting for his belly button to show again too. I am SO bad! :bang: Ok wait a minute, isn't "This Town" by Niall Horan a (gasp!) love song? Except Shoma probably has no clue what the words are or mean. He does look SO cute. He really ought to wear the purple pants though.

ETA -- BTW, someone wrote on the forum "Shoma, only Juniors wear velvet pants". :noshake:

ETA -- No way! Queen Sui actually hugs Shoma?! And of course Yuzu loves to mess up his hair! :) https://pic.twitter.com/Y5raBsyJlJ

Awww his new exhibition is just wonderful, modern and very Shoma. Our little boy is growing up. :ghug:

Does anyone have Shoma's total score if he had landed everything in the LP? Would that have been enough to beat Chen, or is it impossible with the current layout?

With the same GOEs for other elements and the base value of the two lost combinations (the -3T and the 1Lo-3F, both counted on the 3 Axels and with 0 GOE) he would have scored 118,60 in TES: His total score, with 91.08 in PCS (but I believe that with a clean performance those too would have been higher), he would have scored 209,68 in the FS and he would have beaten both Yuzu and Nathan. I believe also that, if he lands the 3 Axels, he gets practically always positive GOEs on that for the good quality of the jumps, so the score probably would have been even more higher than 209 with a clean performance.

I think the 4CCs really showed Shoma's consistency with the quads right in this moment of the season. I hope he can mantain this form until Worlds and performs his best in Helsinki! :yahoo:

The quad Loop was absolutely breathtaking. The easiness was just

Thank you, very interesting indeed! There is some talk of Nathan adding something even more spectacular, probably pushing the base value even more...urgh. I just watched a recap of the Men's event on Eurosport and I must say, even without any bias that I'm very aware I have, Nathan Chen's program falls short. He is not connecting to the music and audience at all. Quads are nice and all, especially if you see them live but I felt nothing watching him skate. And I think the music is horrible, and I want it to stop. And to think that I hated Shoma's music when I first heard and saw the program. It's so amazing that he is able to turn my opinion like that. First skater who ever did it. Normally I like a program or dislike it and that's it. Amazing.
