authentic nose LOL:laugh:

since January I'm carrying small notebook where I note my ideas for Olympic season programs for skaters and for Shoma I've got also OST from movie 'Love in the Time of Cholera' - it has got something myserious and tense in it which would suit Shoma in my opinion, here's my favorite piece from that OST:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6N6ialVM54g&list=PL3d4b-9xrsHUpTB_3uqqhWmPpyzDdLcet&index=9

and also I have 'Rumba d'el jefe' by Jessie Cook - it is such great piece and would suit so many skaters I like!

:jaw: Beautiful choices. We may need to get you a direct "pipeline" to Coach Fluffy! I'm gonna make a wild guess though that they will not do anything with a Spanish flair to it, since he did the tango this year. That even includes Don Quixote. He's so versatile, and he has said he will skate to anything except pieces that are comical or too cutesy.

While other people are thinking about his other a$$ets, I'm worried about his big nose!!! :dumb: :drama: That's ok Shoma! "A big nose is indicative of a soul affable and kind". --Edmond Rostand of Cyrano de Bergerac fame.

lol... he is a bit too young ;) i admit it... that's why i said not before he turns 20 ;)

regarding the belly button MUAHAHA :)

but really, the low waist white jeans.... with the boxer briefs showing... if he starts playing sexy, cougars will hiss hiss hiss

In the meantime, his mom is keeping a VERY close eye on things! I wondered what the deal was with the underwear showing. Maybe David Wilson told him to do that?! :scard7: Oh well, all in good fun.

I still feel somewhat guilty when I notice his thighs in his FS outfit. Because damn. Plus it's a really nice costume that fits him so well. I won't mention the white jeans. All has been said before.

definitely!!!! the harem joke is bigger than the actual harem :)

here.. since we are talking about Shoma's music.... may I suggest something age appropriate but full of passion ?

Cello Sonata, 3rd mvt, Rachmaninoff.... I see it as a SP

@4everchan I think you didn't link the right link??

with the olympics in Korea, I think that would be nice to use music from a Korean composer, for example the genius Jo Yeong-wook :luv17:
My suggestions:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ek4rbmblbI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVw2pK6eP8E
https://youtu.be/gMZEZpDSOFw?t=21s

He's so versatile, I think it makes it even harder to choose! Personally, I'm partial to Rachmaninoff, and in this recording, it almost sounds like the cello is talking. Pretty cool. The Korean music is nice too!

haha ... as the owner of the biggest Harem on GS... i never wait in line ;) btw Dai joined the harem at COC :)

You didn't guard the members of your harem well enough, because I snatched Dai away when he was in Switzerland, ha! (You thought my Art on Ice report was faithful? I left out all the best bits!) I'm gonna use him to lure Shoma over here as well before any of you beats me to it, hehe. My 16 y. o. niece will be delighted - she likes him a lot! ;)

Ahem, back on topic:

I like daphenaxa's first two suggestions - the first one is flowing and melancholic, might be good for a FS and the 2nd one has a nice beat, this one could work well for a SP. And they're not overused - me gusta! :) The first piece also reminds me a bit of Philip Glass - maybe something by him could work as well.

Has Shoma ever talked about which music he likes to listen to? I know, that Turandot was his own choice, but can't recall, if he's ever mentioned other favourites.

Btw, do we know, if Shoma is scheduled to work with Alex/Vladimir again?

gosh, you guys are fiercer than SarahSynchro who keeps snatching Andrew Poje away from the harem...

FYI : once a guy has entered the harem, he can leave but will always be back ;) :rofl2:

regarding korean music : I am just afraid that many skaters will have the same idea.... and then it's overkill... I am glad that Kevin Reynolds is using Finnish music this year for his SP as few people thought of that, but it's just WC... for Olympics, I think it's tricky....

In any case, if going Korean is the option, I hope some people will pick traditional music..rather than crossover ...

for example

could be interesting and intense

With the same GOEs for other elements and the base value of the two lost combinations (the -3T and the 1Lo-3F, both counted on the 3 Axels and with 0 GOE) he would have scored 118,60 in TES: His total score, with 91.08 in PCS (but I believe that with a clean performance those too would have been higher), he would have scored 209,68 in the FS and he would have beaten both Yuzu and Nathan. I believe also that, if he lands the 3 Axels, he gets practically always positive GOEs on that for the good quality of the jumps, so the score probably would have been even more higher than 209 with a clean performance.

I think the 4CCs really showed Shoma's consistency with the quads right in this moment of the season. I hope he can mantain this form until Worlds and performs his best in Helsinki! :yahoo:

The quad Loop was absolutely breathtaking. The easiness was just

Shoma'S planned BV is 104.64 with 3A1Lo3F and 3A3T and all level4. His actual BV was 91.23. The difference is 13.41 adding the 2 points fall deduction back and +2 GOE, he would get additional 19.41. And his total score would be 307.46, still behind Nathan's 307.71 but ahead of Yuzuru's 303.46. I thought the 3 of them would medal again here after GPF and it turned out true.

For some reason, in the black pants and the FS, I don't really notice. But ok, since we've mentioned his thighs, I think we need a little mid-week humor. I haven't posted the BESP boys love for Shoma in awhile, so here goes! (And there's a 3rd mention, but I can't remember when or what competition it was for).

Practice of AWG. Shoma seems in good condition and at run-through he got every jump including 4loop.

He says it is the competition right after the previous one, but he wish to achieve the performance which he can be proud of as a Japanese delegate. The success rates of 4loop and 4 flip are not so high and he’s not satisfied today. He has some concern, but is trying to get it. Difficult jumps are hard also for mental, which just means to keep competing with top skaters is severe to such an extent, so he wants to put those jumps which he can do just not to get late for them.

@4everchan, welcome welcome! Stay long, post oftern!:)

What transitions? Didn't she get the memo that he doesn't have any? *stillbitter* (She says You don't even notice them, so maybe it's Loco Leprechaun Magic after all)

I hope Shoma does his best, but doesn't overstrain himself. He's so busy, even going to Luxemburg before Worlds, I don't know how he does it. It feels a bit too much to get all these responsibilities, but maybe it will push him to do better with so many chances to practice his programs in a competitive setting before Worlds.

Thanks hamaguri! I am not sure I am a great contributor other than  but I will try to entertain at least ;)

oh, You're a contributor just all right!, harem jokes, harem stories are integral parts of any discussion, at least they are positive and upbeat and don't bash anyone:)

Always enjoy your posts 4everchan. You are always courteous to other posters and respectful of all skaters and their efforts.

One question for you. In the beginning of the season (probably during Lombardia?) you and I were "talking" back and forth, and I remember you were not quite convinced that Shoma would be able to "sell" the tango program. As in he was too young, too baby faced, possibly too inexperienced. Just curious, has he managed to convince you as the season has gone along that he is capable of being convincing with the tango? I think that the program has really grown on people as the year has gone along, even considering the screaming woman. :palmf:

Love that she says the transitions are woven into the choreography. Sure beats sitting there with a scorecard counting counters, rockers, choctaws, etc. I like David Wilson's take on it that you're supposed to be skating to the music and putting in transitions where they're appropriate, not just putting in transitions so you can check it off on your little list.

I sometimes wonder if Shoma actually puts in less time when he goes to competitions. I think he trains 5 hours a day normally, and when he is out of town, I don't know if he has that much skating time. I know in Chicago, leading up to Sk Amer he was swimming and playing soccer with his brother in addition to the official practices. I guess he has to cope with jet lag, different food, etc. too. He seems to be up to the challenge, and I think his team is trying to help him cope with the jet lag.

^^^BTW synesthesia, last I heard, Shoma is coming to work with Alex (and probably Vladimir) again in June. Not 100% certain if that's still the game plan. As of Dec. that was the plan.

i remember this conversation quite well ;)

I agreed to give it time... because I admit it... the first time I saw it, I wasn't convinced... however, since GPF, it's better... and I think he will fully convince me by worlds... However, in order to do this, Shoma has lost his status as babykid.... tango are sexy.... do you realize that we cannot have it all? HAHAHA
