He did so well. There was a lot of pressure even though it is a fluff comp. My god, the Japanese media (and fed?) need to chill and let their skaters decompress with everyone else. However, he managed a really good skate. I hope he can do as well in the FS to end his season well. And then, please, a small holiday!

What a precious lamb he is! ;)

I'll never forget how they interviewed him after Worlds last year, barely stumbling out of the kiss and cry, tears running down his face....not nice at all.

Shoma did are great job today! I think Team Japan will finish well at the WTT. It will be interesting to see how Japan totals scores are vs. the Americans.

hey guys did you know that Sho has now scored over a 100 on his SP at 4 events nearly in a row (except for AWG)? NO BIG DEAL

also I was so shook by that Japan overlords hug. dear god. Shoma and Yuzu OTP. Did you know that he was asked with what words he associates Yuzuru to and he said onii san?? (and also "mentor" and "goal"). Did you know after that i died? BLESS (i am actually quite scared for tomo FP with him in 1st place and 2 quad flips holy batman also with the fact he said that going for only double toe was "taking the easy road" and he wasn't gonna do that again in the free.... but he has a good track record for fake competitions so :dance2:)

ALSO THAT TRIPLE AXEL?!!!!!!!!!!!!!??

Just stopping by to say how much I enjoyed Shomita's SP. Is that really the last time we will see it???!!! No, say it isn't so! I love that program SO much! :luv17: I loved it from the first time he debuted it in an ice show, even though it has changed (improved) so much over the course of the season. And I just LOVE his 3A. Yesterday's wasn't his absolute best, but it was still a beauty! I hope he does well tomorrow in the free. I'm sure Fluffy will have some great words of encouragement for him! (Ok, am I the only one who is DYING to know what she says to him?!) And yes, MaiKatze it is hard to believe she is 47! She looks so great.

I'm glad there are a few things to look forward to. It is going to feel like a long off season. I checked and found that last year he announced his new programs on May 22. Seems like people are announcing their music earlier this year, probably because of the Olympics. Then at the end of June will be the announcement of the GP assignments...Hoping for a great FS tomorrow for the Lavender Prince to close out the season in a great way!
 :dance3: :cool14: :peace:

Yeah, no way, Shoma skated before Yuzuru and that phrase was in no way connected to Yuzu's skate. Shoma said that he didn't do well with 3T in practice today and decided to do 2T lest he flop the whole jump or even the whole combo. So he went for the safer version, especially considering that his score would affect the team's placement. Source

He did really well! I thought he wasn't as satisfied with himself as he was after CDP (lmao) and Worlds – remember how he eagerly runs on the ice after both of those! – and I think my absolute favourite performances are still those, but it was wonderful, and I'm really happy that once he tackled the SP he was able to deliver such beautiful performances one after another.

Also, absolute cuteness overload, look at Shoma going for a hug (!!!) with Yuzuru of his own volition (!!!): here and here, my heart just melted ;____;

Too cute!...I think I'm glad I was super busy these last few days and couldn't read a lot of what happened! No matter how the media spins it, I think these two really respect each other and have known each other for SO long and go way, way back! That doesn't mean that they both aren't super competitive, but the media has to think of something to try to stir things up! If anything, Coach Brian was a part of the "Battle of the Brians" that happened at the 1988 Olympics, so I think he'll be able to give his student good advice as to how to deal with that stuff. I wish them both luck. I'm sure they're under a lot more pressure than we can ever realize.

Congrats on a fantastic second place and another great LOCO. He is going to be a force for the OGM, that's sure. I hope they will come up with another fantastic set of programs and he will stay injury free and enjoy the off-season.

My sentiments exactly! Congrats Shoma!

Well done, Shoma. It's hard to skate last and be in first and he performed well. His 4loop was really good. I think it's his best quad, which is funny considering it's a late addition to the family, lol. Yes, he missed the second flip, but he regained his composure and completed everything else really well. That last spin was on its way out of the camera shot, lol, but apart from that travelling, it was a very strong ending. I'm sure he's happy to be done for the season now.

all of these gentlemen need a rest now, I think, so I hope they can get some time to relax and rest their bodies before the heavy lifting for next season begins.

Congratulation to Shoma on such a great showing at his first WTT! I hope he is proud of what he achieved and how much he helped Team Japan here :)
Too bad the second 4F didn't work, but it was a brave attempt and he will have all summer to work on it if he wants. Though I hope he gets some rest first! I feel like he's been going non stop since the GPF.

Congrats on going 1st and 2nd in the two segments and gaining a whopping 23 points for Team Japan. Great job, Shomajesty! I still need to see his FS (I'll check it later after work) but now just have a good night sleep and I hope to see you refreshed and happy for the rest of WTT. Then a good vacation. You deserve it!

Congrats shoma!

Aside from jumps, expression wise I prefer this FS most of this season. I need to rewatch more, but it felt like the most matured and manly one. he was forceful and determined. This program has grown on me, and now i really love it.

After the stable performances throughout the season, now he is a skater who can get 92-93 pcs in spite of his jumps!

Totally agree. Now men's competition is getting harder and harder with physical. All skaters were tired after the big event. But they tried to show the best which they were able to at that time and impressed the audience. They really are sportsmen.

I hope they all rest up a little bit. They deserve it. Just like the Lavender program, I'm so sorry to see the Loco program go. I still think it was one of the very best (if not THE best) programs of the season because of the way Shomita had to learn to skate in an entirely different style. Fluffy's choreography (especially the step sequences) was phenomenal. Even Charlie White said he couldn't believe the difference in when he first saw the program (probably at an ice show) versus when he saw him skate it at Sk Amer. He really grew into the program and truly looked like a dancer!

I still have dreams of him skating to Don Quixote, although it is a warhorse and I'm not so sure they would want to go with a Spanish-flavor program again. Hoping for something funky and modern (like 2015-2016 season) for the SP.

Thanks to Shomita for the memories and thank you to everyone who was in this thread during the season. I really enjoy reading what everyone writes! :thank:

I couldn't help but laugh while watching Team Japan in the K & C. It looked like they skated every single step with Shoma, including the coaches. Quite a different view than they usually have. They are all winners, both on and off the ice.
