He smiled a lot, he looked happy after the skate! :luv17:

The spins were well-timed!! Great program, I'm happy!!

Genuine question, is it inappropriate to talk about his butt? Are we allowed to here? The pants aren't black-colored, they reflect more light--defining the shape more.

people in the chat were talking about his butt being "very nice" during the warm up session since the camera is focused on him

I think I know who's the director's favorite. Quite intense zooming on Shoma :). The pants are a little bit distracting.... Anyway, amazing start! I almost can't believe that happened. And he smiled which was the best :).

iorii - We talk about his assets all the time. No worries...I have a love affair with Shoma's thighs...hehehe.

I wonder what the score could've been if the flip had been a bit more secure. If Shoma wants to beat Yuzuru or even Javier through his own strength this score is too low. He must get closer to the top. Yeah, nitpicky, I know. It's early-season too, but I just worry.

LOL MaiKatze. When you start to worry just think of his thighs.

So eloquently said :)

Thanks! It's a bit hard to avoid talking about his assets--they are very nice. I just kept hitting the screenshot button while he was skating and after I checked the screenshots, well, the assets sure are nice.

Whoops sorry. I wanted to talk about the score but it's still so early in the season and I'm getting sleepy so my hazy brain can only think of the most distracting thing.

Photo of the day indeed! https://twitter.com/asverit/status/908395695333416960

I didn't want to notice but the grey plush pants do highlight quite a few things...

Grats on a great start to the season, Shoma. Good luck on the FS!

So these pants ARE grey, right? I kept thinking they didn't look black! I hate to abandon the love of the purple pants so quickly, but these made the mighty thighs look pretty amazing. How about the shirt though? Is that gorgeous or what?!

Someone here on GS criticized Sho for wearing velvet pants and said only juniors wear velvet pants. :scratch3: Is that really true? I never noticed!

If someone criticized Shoma for wearing velvet pants it's probably because they were a little bit uncomfortable with how it made them feel looking at Shoma in them..... heart palpitations and all....

Just came back to my hotel from the rink. It was so joyous to watch him, he's quite something. 4T-3T combination and 3A -- it was like nothing, he did not even bother. Just went through these elements. So confident at this early stage of the season. I see now that he had a couple of levels three in some spins and the step sequence, so plenty of room for further improvement. And he can definitely jump this 4F better. But overall -- come on, it was sensational. :clapper:
P.S. Sorry, won't say anything about his butt. When you watch him live, you do focus on the program more than on his butt, strange as it may seem. :laugh2:

I'm sorry if I come over as a whiny spoilsport sometimes. I worry too much, that's true. It's just that the negative thoughts creep in so easily. I'm going to lean back and enjoy the FS and see Shoma win. He can improve, that's good to know.

Thank you for the update. He was amazing -- interesting on some level 3s. There were a couple times where it didn't seem that he moved as smoothly as he usually does. But overall -- wow! I'm trying to remember if he left one of his usual movements out -- the one where after he faces the audience and turns. Then he usually puts both hands up and does an Uncle Dai head roll. Oh well, I'll have to just watch again! Usually I'm so excited to see him I get amnesia!

Hronop, I can't remember if you are going to the FS also. I hope so, and :thank: again! Enjoy! :points:

ETA -That move was there; I was just so hyper I didn't remember.

We just all want him to do well. Nothing wrong with that. And ice IS slippery, so we just never know. The only thing we can be sure of is that he comes out and gives 120% ALL the time.

the costume is borderline too revealing... i felt a bit awkward watching him today LOL what a great performance though!

So great that you got to watch live! Such a great start to the season, and I'm still looking forward to the further development in the program (like how Ladies in Lavender got so much better in the second half of last season).

I'm not sure, did he make/break a record of the highest SP score for a Challenger Series competition?

Honestly, I try not to notice his butt/backside/derriere, but (oops, tiny pun there) watching the video, you can't help it. I think it has to do with how the light hits the costume and so emphasizes certain body parts on video, unlike when it's live. That light gray velvet costume tends to reveal, rather than conceal. :laugh2: Love the bluish hue on the top!

Plus, he held his ending pose for a while! Who'd have thought?? :luv17:

Yes! This especially. Last season he never held his ending pose long enough.

It was like ON > OFF moment. After the ending pose was done, we saw his adorable smile. He let his guards down and he almost stumbled. The World's silver medalist stumbled on nothing.
