Did you see Shoma's dazzling smile in the warm up during eye contact with Fluffy? Ah, he just makes me happy simply through existing. And through skating, too. Awesome.

He looked so relaxed and happy this entire competition. He's in a great frame of mind for the rest of the season. This is an impressive start for Shoma.

These scores are massive, and in the start of the season, too! Wow! 5 quads (which all looked good except the 4Lo landing)! Smiles galore during the warm-up and some during the second half! I especially liked the little emphatic head shake and embarrassed smile after the aborted 4S attempt during the warm-up, followed less than a minute later by a really good 4S (at least I thought so). He's doing so well, and the season just started!

By the way, I was lurking in the Lombardia forum, and I must say that MaiKatze is my hero, for unabashedly and unapologetically supporting and cheering for ShoSho! Love it!

Let's talk costumes!!!

They are the best! Both of them. Don't want him to change. The blue, the gold, the collar, the bling, the DETAIL. It's honestly amazing, how wonderful these costumes are, how princely and good he looks! I could watch him sparkle all day.

And before I forget, Fluffy :luv17: such a happy calming presence, I'm so glad he has her by his side. This woman is amazing!

Ahhh...I'm just happy! *bliss*

(Let me enjoy before the worry kicks in, hehehe)

I agree about the costumes, the colors and shapes suit Shoma very well. Perfect for an Olympic year.

Unfortunately the stream quality wasn't that good, but was there illusion mesh interwoven in some of the golden patterns? It's just so hard to see, because it's so detailed. I hope we get clearer pictures soon.

I am just basking in the happiness that a good start to the season brings. He still has a lot of work to do, but then I know we all remember how Loco started and how it evolved over the season. I think we have to nominate them for the Happiest K & C. Fluffy's positivity has to be such a good influence for him. He was actually breathing a little more heavily than regular breathing when he went to the K & C. I'm not used to that from Mr. Stamina!...Now I think I'll sit here and stare at my calendar(s)! :laugh2: -- either that or I need to go back to bed and actually get some sleep!

ETA -- The costumes -- what can I say that hasn't been said. I had to make the Turandot costume my avatar so I can see it frequently! "Brava!" to Satomi Ito for another brilliant job with both costumes.

Fantastic job, Shoma, and congrats on getting that 4S! And his smile! <3

Also, the blue Turandot looks as amazing here as under show lights. I like it more than the Winter grey Loco, though, just because the yellow illusion mesh on the SP costume made me want to cry a little.

Can any kind shoma fans tell me which turandot album or opera Shoma's FS music come from?
It is really nicely put together (I particularly like the stsq part). Definitely one of the better turandot I have seen this season.
Have to say this really suits Shoma. repeat it a correct choice. his SS is real suited to that kinda tension demanded by turandot. And I have witnessed the crowd reaction his turandot can evoke in person before.

oh my...both short & free skatings're amazing.. actually he's often changing the details but 4S this time❗️wonderful, it's a great start😀

^^^I looked away from my computer for a split second, and when I turned back, I thought I saw him finishing the 4S and I thought "Wait a minute?! Did I really see that?!" Can't believe he included it! Bravo Prince Of All Things Winter.

ETA -- Didn't someone in this thread say one time that he didn't like doing the salchow too much because it hurt his foot too much? Or am I remembering that wrong?

I couldn't watch the stream because I was out and now I just finished watching Shoma's FS.

I---I fell in love.... We'll see if this program will beat my love for Loco but--such a good start.

I don't know how to form words now. His expressions, his costume, his skating---is this really how he gonna start the season? Shoma sure has set the bar high. Shoma looks happy, I'm happy.

Someone in the thread pointed out it was Jose Carreras's version before. I hope this is what you meant! https://open.spotify.com/track/65Fy0acqpgswHtF3wVZQPe

Finally time to watch FS again and comment on it. I was in an event but snuck out to watch Shoma's skate :slink: Wow, he really is in a good shape. That 4S! :yahoo: I've liked all the ice show Turandots but this is the first time I actually got a feeling of something special in the atmosphere. :hap10: Also, is it just me or was his spins really centered? I guess we can thank Alex for that :) Edit: Maybe it was just me. Just watched again and the first one moved a bit but the last spin was great.

I'm once again so impressed by his attitude. He's giving his all and has high standards but at the same time like you said he was so happy and relaxed. :) He even smiled during the program which was cute :luv17:. If he can keep this frame of mind (and I think he can!) for the whole season just imagine what we are going to see in Pyeongchang :dance2:

One Fluffy fan more right here! I sometimes think would Shoma be as great if he didn't have Fluffy. We obviously don't know what she is like behind the scenes but they always smile and laugh together. Seems to be really loving, supportive and trusting relationship.

Thank you! That's so sweet of you. Honestly, it is exhausting, but I pity those who can't see the beauty in Shoma's skating. Their loss. Some people are only happy when they can put others down. I'm happy when Shoma wins. I'm also happy if Shoma skates his best and doesn't win. There is a lot of heartbreak in the making for those who'd rather bite their tongue off before complimenting him. Lombardia was only the beginning!

I dare you to find better captions! (You will, I'm sure!)

I should have asked the kind poster if I could post his/her quote (see below) from the Lombardia SP thread, so sorry about that. But this comment makes me so happy. I love that a trained musician values his musicality and interpretation...You know how this works. Same people, same comments. Who cares?! I care what the judges say. Two Challenger competitions so far, and we've already seen some amazing skating. I'm sure some people are getting pretty nervous...On a happier note, we were wondering how his costumes would seem in "for real" competition. With the exception of the grey pants, I thought everything looked terrific. At first I wasn't sure about the color of the FS shirt, but I think it's good. I thought it wasn't quite the right shade of blue for him. Still am not sure if it is, but the contrast with the gold looks phenomenal...Next competition - a fun one. Japan Open!

If Uno does not deserve a 9.25 for interpretation, then who does? He is on equal footing, interpretively, with Patrick and Yuzuru, probably a bit better. As a professional violinist who has performed the Four Seasons more times than I can count, I think Shoma's interpretation of Winter is better than any skater I've ever seen.
