My thoughts exactly.:yes: I quite much relieved his team decided to go back to the 2017 Worlds jump layouts, and also he's got back his stamina to hit all jumps, along with all 3 combos, in the second half. Despite the fall earlier, his attack and speed during the second half was really impressive! Shoma did skate with confidence, engagement and fire, I thought.

Yes. Shoma and his team finally seem to be back on track. I'm so happy for him and his coaches.

And, it looks like she had so much fun! She got a photo with him, right? (Looking at the side picture) You all had enormous fun! This is as it should be, FUN!!!!
Yes, on her DP. So great that everyone had fun! Love the laughter after the kakkoii and more giggly laughter after he smiled. I just rewatched the ex and the FS, he really did get some loud cheers, didn't he? I knew he did, but I didn't realize how loudly it was heard in the videos too!

I wasn't able to see him outside of the competition, but I'm happy enough seeing him competing live. Plus I was less than 10 meters away from him when he was off ice during the awarding ceremony. Despite not being my favorite costume and that hair slicked back is not something I prefer on him, he's still a treat to the eyes. [emoji4]

Oh my, I still have a 4CC hangover. I need to sober up. [emoji23]

Charlie White's commentary on Sho's FS. Some of you may already have heard this, but I still like putting it here for posterity!

His power beautifully accentuated by the music of Puccini. Another 4T -- simply incredible. 3A 1Lo 3F, 3S-3T, continuing the momentum through the end of this program. A masterful performance from Shoma Uno falling to his knees no doubt exhausted from the effort put into this performance. Absolutely incredible.

Charlie, how impressed were you that after the fall on the 4F he pulled himself together and essentially aced the rest of the program? Answer: To me, it's a testament to his training. In training, you're going to make mistakes, and the fact that he in training no doubt pushes through that and continues to always try his best. Clearly, just so well trained. His endurance - sure, he looked exhausted at the end. Until then, you would have thought he could have kept going. Just the amount of technical difficulty filling that program -- essentially more than making up for the mistake on the 4F.

Did you see a bobble in the lead up to the 4F? Answer: I think his left side is coming around too quickly and so in the air it's still too far around. Because he has to rotate so quickly, he's not able to check back over his right side, so when he hits the ice, all of his momentum is still swinging around, taking him down to the ice.

Not to dwell on the mistake -- how will the fall affect him?...Answer: I almost want to say it's better he didn't skate 100% clean today, because what he wants is to save that performance for the Olys.

Hi everyone. I am a new Shoma fan. I mostly follow Japanese ladies but Shoma has always been in a corner of my mind, not really a favourite but one of the skaters I enjoy watching the most in the male and pair field. Then come 4CC and he absolutely had me sold with that This Town ex. His musicality is amazing, the edges and flows are so soft, the spins are just really to die for. He also has a lot in common, skill wise (and height wise), to my favourite lady Satoko, so I think it makes me more open to his charms in the first place.

Right now I am marathoning his past programs and just thinking, why didn’t I see all these skills and charms and dedications earlier ?

Welcome to GS and Shoma's FF!

Welcome Kiarararara! While I hope Shoma will skate something 'new' in the Olympics Gala (If he's invited, as I'm sure he'll be) I also hope he will skate to This Town for exactly that reason. I think this exhibition should be watched by a greater audience and so many more people will fall in love with him!

Gosh, the spins in This Town. Could watch all day!

There’s something about the proximity that would make you very heady, it’s true!

You know, I had some “waiting” time very early this morning and I suddenly watched that This Town again, as well as the smiling moment. I thought, what does that remind me of?? You know he has a “big” little brother, yes? Well I have seen brothers smirk like this, and I thought maybe he’s thinking “Woa, Istuki’s never gonna let me live this down”
i was imagining something like this: Itsuki: Shoma-kun? Whose that? Oh you mean KAKKOII-KUN!”
Shoma: “Shut-up. Itsuki can be very annoying”

(I am afraid I had fun letting my imagination get away with me.)

Shoma's official Olympics site bio

I love that mug shot of him. It’s probably from last year since he still has that smol baby face. I can’t wait for the Olympics, just wish that Shoma can finish it with a smile, regardless of the results.

I’m really looking forward to a perfect “Winter” at the Olympics and a free skate like 4CC or better. We all know that he works so hard and I just hope that he can put it all out there on the ice. A medal would be nice but more than that I wish him to perform in a way that he could be proud of.

I hope he will either skate to This Town or La vie en rose at the Olympics gala ( See you again is nice but I have watched it like 500 times lol). La vie en rose is such a beautiful program that I wish he skated it more often. Or he could just save it for competition, it would make a marvelous short program. It embraces his musicality and the softness, smoothness of his skating so well.
