Thank you so much!! Ideally Europe would be easiest for me as I'm in the UK, but I am...somewhat willing to travel a little further, if I can save up the funds. Thankfully the prices are less terrifying than I'd anticipated! I'm assuming the European ones will be similar prices, but I'll just have to keep an eye out for ticket sales.

I hope so too! Fingers crossed :D

Overall, I'd say the skating tickets would be the cheapest part of the whole thing! The airfare and hotel are the most. The other thing too, if you're not interested in all the disciplines, you can try for some single tickets. I always say though that as long as I'm going all that way, I want to see everything! To me the actual skating tickets are an amazing bargain. It's a lot of entertainment for the money! I hope you get to attend an event. What a great present to yourself. Good luck!

ETA -- I'm hoping Shoma gets Canada!

Depends on how he does at Worlds, but I'm thinking given a choice, he probably won't select skate Canada unless the timing is convenient. He's already definitively won there. France he's won, but without doing the FS, he may not be that satisfied with the win in 2015. France and Russia are anyone's game now, since there's no really strong European candidate for the Worlds podium, so any of the top 3 can choose them. Of course, either Kolyada or Aliev MAY be able to make it, which then makes Russia theirs.

NHK... That will be interesting to figure out. With the Olympic Gold medalist not participating at Worlds, he'll not officially be entitled to choose his assignment over the World's Gold medalist (who knows if he's even going to participate in the grand Prix)- and if the World Champion turns out to be Shoma, well, who knows what will happen? I'm guessing Shoma won't choose NHK because he generally does not seem to like competing in Japan, but again, the timing of the events would be important. Cup of China will very likely go to Boyang.

I suggest waiting. The Grand Prix events don't really get badly sold out (except maybe if it's in Japan). Plenty of time yet.

Okay, I'm out of the loop. Why is there a long tag of Shoma trending on Twitter? I have no objections of course, since there are all kinds of adorable pictures being posted. [emoji8][emoji1]

Sorry for the late reply here, it is a campaign called "A campaign to flood Twitter with adorable Uno-kun". So basically that means flooding us with dead bananas :dbana::dbana::dbana::dbana::dbana:

Oh that is adorable. BTW Arriba I have been meaning to tell you, love your Avatar.

Thx on the avatar. I love it. I want a medal like that! I remember when I first saw these Muscles Shomita shots, I thought it wasn't him. I remember saying "Did they photo shop his head on Uncle Dai's body somehow?" No, not quite. I forget that he does a lot of weight lifting and other off-ice stuff.

Other than the Final, no other tickets are available now (that I know of). No one knows anything yet, because so much depends on who can't meet whom at the different competitions. And I think he can state some preferences, but it doesn't mean that he gets to go where he wants. That's when I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall -- when the Feds meet and discuss who will go where. Obviously everyone is jockeying for position trying to be sure that their skaters end up at the GPF. I almost hope he DOESN"T get NHK, because the people there can see him in other things throughout the year -- whether it's ice shows, Nationals. And I agree that he doesn't like competing in Japan. I'm going to guess Sk Can and France again. Or maybe Rostelecom in place of France. Nathan will be at Sk Amer, Jin will be CoC (MAYBE!)...That's interesting, I just checked out the web site, and it says Sk Amer tickets will go on sale in March! http://www.2018skateamerica.com/ So sooner than I thought, but still too early to buy.

Worlds will start in 2 weeks. Gammbatte, shoma!

I had the chance to see a lot of intervies of his during and after Olympics. His eyes were towards worlds on the very day of Men's free, right after the competition. For him Olympics is one of his competitions and it was over now..He went back to Japan for practice and got back for exhibition.
He found the problem of his jumps to see Javi and yuzu, highght and flow. He's practicing for it now.

At the same time, he has so much pride with his artistry and expressions. At a TV show he said figure skating is not only jumps and wants to show his expressions. The performance of Olympics was not at all his best although it was the best he could do at that time with the exausted body. Step, spin, flow of jumps.. He can do more.

since after coming back to Japan on the next day of exhibition (He was absent from closing ceremony), his media exposure has been minimum. He did only compulsory comitment like JOC, local government, etc desite of his title of silver medal. (And he was awarded at Toyota, his sponser the other day! ) Anyway, he has concentrated on Worlds.

We cannot forget shoma has super hate-to-lose spirit. Itsuki discloses the episode... When they plays tennis or something... At first time Itsuki wins, but next time, shoma wins. shoma works so hard when he loses... Shoma tried to get gold but couldnt beat yuzu right after injury... It must impact him and he must win this time.

About mentality... Shoma analized calmly his pressure got light at Olympics because of yuzu and he was not sure he could do the same performance as this time if he had been in yuzu's position. but this Worlds, all the pressure will be towards him. this worlds will deide the spot of next saitama Worlds! He has so much responsibility and he is no.1 of nationals.... but Im sure he can handle it and he is not any more what he was 2 years ago at Boston. He has achieved so much. At TV show, there was question time answering yes or no. A question, "Honestly, did you have confidence of medal?" and shoma quickly raised the card yes. He had the firm belief in himself based on his practice and achievement, silvr medal of last Worlds. Now he is the Olympics silver medalist. He could overcome so many things. He suspended bad stream and achieved wonderful performances at team and indivisual SP. And he overcame the huge pressure of final order at FS. Those kind of things must have accumulated in him and strengthen him.
Now is the time for him to shine.

Go shoma!

And when he appears on CM, I guess it will be with Itsuki!

My copy of MOOK arrived today! The size is smaller than the usual magazines but the pictures are very nice and unbroken. Overall it is like a photobook of Shoma at the Olympic.

According to this tweet, Shoma's mook is the number two best selling book on Amazon (Japan, I'm guessing), and the number one among the sports-related books. In case anyone doubted that he has quite a number of fans. [emoji4] https://twitter.com/tirishoma5712/status/972069809369133056?s=19

I'm still giggling over the word mook. I'm not over how cute that word is. Between "mook" and "mobage", I will just keep erupting in giggles.

:agree: Never doubted it for a minute!

^^ Yup!

Any one else having trouble with the quote notification. When I click on it does not bring me to the post that was quoted but to the first page of the FF thread. It has been
happening to me all week.

Hmm, I haven't been having any problems. I mostly use the mobile app, but even when I use the computer I didn't find that to be an issue.
