Honestly, I shall never rewatch and remember this messy event... I never forgive people to criticize him about his podium in spite of falls. Japan could get 3 spots without his podium.

And I wondered immediately if Boyang Jin was hurt! And WHY, WHY does he jump his quads so close to the wall?! He did it in the short, and he did it again today. Or maybe there's something wrong with his skates? I'm saying that because after it was over, I was out in the lobby near one of the skate manufacturers. All of a sudden, I realized I was standing next to Misha Ge and Boyang! Don't know how the heck that happened. Misha said something to Boyang in Chinese and then they disappeared really fast because, of course, everyone wanted a photo with them!

And how about that Kozuki bringing it when it really counted?!

Congrats to Shoma! He is a hero! I couldn't believe he can skate like this with that injury!:luv17: His tears were so touching!

I was wondering about Boyang. From what I heard his practices were okay, not rough, was landing jumps.

I re-watched the NBC broadcast (had watched it on CBC livestream earlier because NBCSN did not carry it live). They did not mention that Shoma was injured again, just said that he had difficult practices all week, had some difficulty with some of his jumps. They were talking mainly about the reason for the sloppy performances was because that Worlds was so close to the Olympics. They probably will be pushing for Worlds to not be held same year as Olympics. At least Nathan mentioned in the press conference that Shoma was injured.

Honestly, I'd love it if Shoma would just not do any jumps tomorrow, whatsoever. He could just dance and skate, because his musicality and performance skills are so A+, but I don't want him hurting himself anymore-- especially during a gala, where his jumps don't matter at all. He needs a rest, he's done his part for Japan and then some.

I'm sure he'll take it easy on the jumps but definitely would not want to let his fans down by not skating at all. He'll be ok...And I have to say I just LOVE your avatar and laugh every time I see it. Especially since we were talking about the term "air head" the other day.

I definitely trust his judgement, after all, only he knows his own condition. I'm sure he won't overwork himself, and thank you! I actually didn't have an avatar until reading about him being spaced-out and I thought 'wow, i have the perfect picture for this,' that's really funny that you mentioned it!

The injury must have been more severe than originally thought, or at least the pain was since he was given injection for the pain. Apparently he was given one prior to SP but refused it after that.

He said that his refusal to take the injection was the beginning of his recovery, so I guess he's just letting it heal on its own? Or maybe I'm just misunderstanding the translation, but he seems confident enough that he's making a steady recovery.

From what I saw of the interview via translation, he is afraid of needles so after he got the first injection he willed himself to get better. So maybe he convinced himself it was better so he did not have to get another injection or coincidentally it actually got better on its own??

Wow, I didn't know he'd had injections?? :O Baby boy :( He needs some time to rest and recoup, hopefully after the gala he can get a little relaxation in. Games and meat, and ice on that foot!

REST - ICE - COMPRESSION - ELEVATION (and yakiniku and gaming!)

I made the bold choice to rewatch his FS (I swear I'm not a masochist) and wow even with the mistakes it's such a powerful performance. No one captures the highs and lows in the music quite like Shoma. I didn't think that it was possible to love him even more than I already do :sad21:.

The way he picks himself back up with the choreography and step sequences, the 4toe-2toe, the 3axel-lo-3flip (my favorite combo ever), and then ends it with emotion and conviction is so amazing. With the lyrics in the back shouting "vinceró!" you can really feel that he wants it, you can feel the fight. Even though it was hard to watch because of the falls and you can tell that he was in pain, the battle he goes through is what's really captivating imo

re-watching is making me nearly as emotional as I was with the initial viewing, even knowing it was coming, the way he finally and triumphantly lands the quad almost made me gasp out loud. Such power!!

sidenote but which exhibition number do you all think he will perform?

I re-watched it too. The first time I saw it I could've sworn he was tearing up into the cantilever. During the re-watch I still think he was or just incredibly drained and fighting through the exhaustion. Shoma's heart really is made of steel. He said it wasn't but it really is. Having the ability and mental strength to fight in a war you know you wont win takes a heart made of steel.
Shoma likes anime and I do too. When he was interviewed with Yuzuru after the olympics, the interviewer said that Shoma had a steel heart because Shoma said that he didn't feel nervous or stress at the Olympics. Ever since then I've been quoting a popular, amazing anime called Full-Metal Alchemist. The main character Edward says this line at the end of the series,
"There's no such thing as a painless lesson, they just don't exist. Sacrifices are necessary. You can't gain anything without losing something first. Although if you can endure that pain and walk away from it, you'll find that you now have a heart strong enough to overcome any obstacle. A heart made fullmetal."
I just think of how much this relates to Shoma's career so far and I'm really proud of him for all he's accomplished.
Sorry for my rant and my nerdyness coming out. I was really emotional during Shoma's skate and it's been hours and I'm still thinking about it.

WineHerUp: I didn't think it was possible to love him even more than I already do.
Me too, I didn't think it was possible.:sad21:

I hope he performs "This Town". I know he's done it a lot this season but I love it so much. He can do it without jumps and it would still be beautiful.

I'm hoping he does This Town with toned down jumps. I think that This Town is more emotional, so even without bigger jumps it can be just as moving. See You Again is a really beautiful skate, and I think it'd also be appropriate given how far he's come through struggles, but the jumps seem to have a bigger impact in that skate so I hope he doesn't.

strongly hoping for This Town! I think it's likely since he performed See You Again at the Olympics but he might betray me and perform See You Again here too. This Town is just one of the programs that I can watch over and over again, so I'd be thrilled :)

I'm also partial to This Town, and it's true it would be a lovely and sweet skate jumps or no jumps :luv17: See You Again is great too though of course! Honestly I would also be a very happy girl if he randomly decided to bring back La Vie en Rose, but it's quite unlikely :p
