Like you all, I rewatched his Free. It was a miracle that Shoma did hit the last 3 jump passes, filling in all combos as planned. After his third fall, I was prepared to see a meltdown a la 2004 Eric-bompard-daisuke-free tbh... But Shoma proved me wrong once again. Even with those awful falls, he didn't throw away the performance as a whole. He didn't give up till the end, because he knows that every other elements, its VB and +GOE would count at the end of the day of competiton, he did his best in order to get the enough standing to help team Japan for next year's worlds in Saimata.
I think I wrote this before, but what amazes me the most about him is if he falls on a jump he always gets up right away, dashing back to his performance, if he falls again he's up again and back to it even with more speed. If we follow the sport closely, we often see skaters fall a couple of times then they eventually lose their focus and just give up. But Shoma never let the nerves/pressure eat up him. He is one tough competitor. Also, a back-loading free, solid 3As in the second half, most of all, his stamina both mental and physical to pull it off helps him dearly. Hats off to this young man. :points:

I kept flashing back a little to Yuzu's CoC. The unyielding stoicism with which Shoma carried on after each fall was just extraordinary to me, so grounded and just plain STRONG.

Not sure when this photo was taken, as Wagner is in the group? It looks like a Japanese restaurant. The dialogue between Shoma and Nathan is funny

It's actually kind of a cute story, after WTT 2017 team Japan made a reservation at a yakiniku restaurant (for 6 people) but only Shoma and one other skater could go. Four of team USA's skaters were waiting to eat at the same restaurant and Shoma invited them to come to their table, since they had just the right number of spots. He and Nathan talk a little bit about it in this interview: http://shoma-uno.tumblr.com/post/165690375547/special-talk-with-nathan-chen-and-shoma-uno-at

Wow, thank you so much! I just read the interview and it was really well written/translated. Very informative and cute, especially this part:
N: Honestly, I’m too focused on myself during the 6 minute warmup. The thing that I am most careful about is to not run into anyone.
S: That’s true. This is very off topic, but whenever Japanese television shows Hanyu, Nathan is often in the shot. (laughs) I see that a lot, and I just thought that was funny.

Thanks again!

I saw the pic of Kazuki Tomonoa adjusting Shoma's jacket collar at the small medal ceremony and was thinking - Shoma's so absent minded he needs both his senior and junior to take care of it. LoL

Other than Yuzuru, still remember the recent Japan Nationals where Mura adjusted Shoma's trophy to face front.

This was really nice to read. Both of them come off so considerate and mature. I wish I was so thoughtful and gracious at 18-19, lol.

Just wondering, does Shoma speak English?

Well, Shoma is only interested in 1. FS 2. Game 3. Sleep 4. Meat (beef is better)
So, "adjusting jacket collar" is "none of his business" lol, I guess everyone in Team Japan knew that xD Luckily Tomono was there to take care of Shoma

Shoma went to eat ice cream with Kazuki after banquet!

I'm pretty sure this was at the banquet itself, where they had an ice cream parlour. Shoma is behind it and Kazuki's caption is Gelatoya-san. Which means that Shoma is the one selling the ice cream. :)

Well, he’s spoken English a couple times (by reading katakana off of a piece of paper) but no, he doesn’t speak English. He’s said he wants to learn though
