A little off topic, but I feel that he even looks more mature in all of his after Worlds pictures. After his toughening experience, he seems to have internally grown. Besides, I love his long hair look! Does anybody feel the same?

I agree, he does look more mature, but at the same time softer? Does that make any sense? It just seems like he's really calm now that the season's over. Also, I love his long hair! Whenever I'm on social media, I always see people saying that he needs a haircut, but I think it looks great. So fluffy.

Shoma at peak fluffy is the best Shoma

I don't think he medaled the way he wanted to at Worlds. It was such a mess.

I can understand it wasn't the ideal way to get a medal but not because of this he should think all of his season was lousy.

Love the "fluffy" adjective!! ❤️

It does make sense, I totally agree with you.

The fluffy look's the best, very attractive and anime-like, even kinda misterious...lets not pay attention when somebody says he needs a haircut! 😉

Welcome Tyche! I'm also quite new around here but since everybody is so nice, I feel really comfy and I believe you'll be happy too.

I agree with you, he's being really hard on himself! I hope he can calmly look back at his season and feel proud of himself and see what all of us see in him. He's such a perfectionist and that's also what makes him so wonderful!

Thank you! Everybody is so nice here - I think it's fitting that a forum for Shoma would have sweet people on it :) I can't get over how even-tempered and good-hearted he is. Imagine any other skater saying about his rival Yuzu (albeit also a good friend): "He will be my eternal goal — the eternal idol for me. I wish to chase him forever".

They said he had a "titanium" heart - I think it's more like a heart of gold!

Welcome Tyche!

Yes he is very hard on himself but I guess he’s aiming to turned the frustation into bettering himself. Overall, after skate canada he did have a couple of rough competition compare to last year. He manage to placed better I think because his program has a lot more content that last season’s program so I can understand if he isn’t satisfied no matter what the reasons are. And I admire that as I rarely see such character in a 20 yo.

Not sure if this has been posted but here’s an interview with TAT and she praised Shoma a couple times although she is being harsh to russian’s skater as well.

I am in Japan now for a short trip...this afternoon i went to a second hand book store by chance and found a magazine (kateigaho) with shoma's interview 😍😍 Kinda unexpected to find that, sadly I cannot buy it cox it is too damn heavy (budget travel this time only 7kg luggage..) still good to see handsome shoma with hakama (Japanese formal wear) and some interview.
According to the description in the interview, the family crest of Uno is eagle's feather* (the crest looks like two feathers imo)

*edited the classification of uno's family crest after browsed some internet info

i think there is something between his hair and the program (loco loco with pomade and short hair, bluerandot with fluffy hair )
i am excited with his new program.how many costume?his hair??his style?

I can see where Shoma is a bit disappointed about the season, despite the fact that many other skaters would kill to have the kind of season he had. So much of what happens during the season depends on luck. I consider getting the flu at the beginning of the season very unlucky, although with all of the flying the skaters do, it's surprising they aren't sick more often. I don't think we'll ever really know when or how much his ankle hurt him. I know he definitely wasn't 100% at Sk Can. So to put in so much practice and each time fall just a little bit short is bound to be discouraging, especially for someone who HATES to lose. So how many competitions did he leave with that "so near but yet so far" feeling. I do feel that in the long run, his experiences this year will make him stronger.

The hair -- please Sho, get a hair cut before the ice shows! Love the red streaks, but it's getting WAY too long!

I am hopeful

I adore Shoma and I want him to get more consistent with quad flip and loop. I like what he said. It gives me hope that he will do less shows and more training time in the off season. He barely got anytime working on those jumps in the US this year. I am thrilled with what he said.

I think the shows are very good for him. Once he gets his programs, they provide a great opportunity for him to work on perfecting them. When the season starts, other skaters can sometimes seem to be floundering with their programs, whereas he is ready and "comes out of the gate fast" because he already has a lot of experience performing them. Also, instead of the 5 hour a day practices he would normally do, he gets a bit of a rest when he does the ice shows. It's good for him...Jump practice is great, but you can't overdo it. I was disappointed he didn't come to the U.S. in Dec., but with the way his ankle was bothering him off and on, maybe it turned out to be a good thing. Not sure if or when he plans on coming this summer.

I can perfectly understand what you mean (Arriba and Logirl) and that frustration that he must be feeling (of course it's normal since he puts his life in his skating and is aiming for gold). I also love the way he canalizes all of this into positive things and more power to attack (this season will he write 4 exclamation marks?)!

All of these experiences will make him stronger, he'll invest his off-season wisely and surely next season will be very good for him. A commentator said that his time will come and I'm sure about that.

And the hair...as long as he can see where he's going, it's fine with me! I also love the red streaks! 😍

It's really exciting to see what will he do next (music, programs, hair, costume). I don't know why but I would like to see him in an all black outfit!

Hello everyone! I'm new here. Sorry for my poor english, it's not my native language. Anyway, I was watching YOI vid on YT when Shoma's SA 2015 See you again exhibition came up in the suggested video. It has a million views so out of curiosity I decided to watch it and I was like WOW! I'm impressed! This eventually lead me to checking out his programs and i have to say LOCO is my all time favorite fp. It is an epic program. Hands down to his ever fabulous coach/choreographer mihoko higuchi. That program brings out the best in shoma. Now im hooked.

Shoma is royalty, you can't expect him to fix his own clothes or worry about other stuff except for figure skating, gaming, sleeping and eating, he has people to do these things for him. lol:laugh::sarcasm:

Royalty indeed. I came across an article about shoma leaving the olympic village to stay with his mom. According to the hotel official his mom arrived earlier than shoma to take care of him. He stays in the hotel with her mom from the day he arrived at the olympic village until after he won. Shoma will forever be a baby to everyone especially to his mom.

I believe this. I think he has said these shows are his way of giving back to skating fans. He is booked up with shows in April and May but does take break until late August. Side note, I wonder if he will plan more training with coach Alex Ouriashev in early August near Chicago like he has in previous summers.

It is a good thing he went to hotel and did not stay in Olympic Village at that time where a lot of skaters like Nathan and Bruno Massot got the flu and/or noravirus that was going around.

I think he will be booked for more shows as time goes on. I can't remember if it was last summer or the previous summer, but I think it was noticeable that he put on a little weight -- probably from not doing his daily killer practices. Another positive thing is that he is around all the top skaters and has a chance to observe them, like Uncle Dai told him to do. Always a good learning experience. Although he earned prize money, the last I heard, he was getting $5,000 per ice show. Possibly he will earn even more, now that he is an Olympic medalist.

His training with Alex is pretty intense, but he is a hard worker. Even so, I wonder how many weeks of that he could take. They probably have his whole schedule all planned out already, including programs and costumes. Please tell us soon! :drama:

I was relieved to hear this and so happy to see him eating the lunch that his mom had prepared for him. That noravirus is no joke. I love the way his skating is an effort by his whole family. Their support is so important, including Itsuki's. Itsuki is his rock.
