I've only seen the pink one time. It was when he did the interview at Chukyo with Uncle Dai. It actually looked VERY nice! I have my blue with gold Shoma nails right now, but usually his nails look a heck of a lot better than mine do! I'd like to see him do the "business nail" look that is popular now, but probably too distracting for a skater!

Shoma's answer was really funny (back to his normal style lol). I can translate if u cannot find any from web..but u need to wait for a while as I am out of town am...

Thanks Gacchan! Of course whenever you are free.

Can anyone translate Shoma’s part?
https://youtu.be/KsuvflNHjnU

i don't understand all of them but I try to do as many as I can. The native speakers are able to provide a more complete translation of it. (Which means it is time for me to keep up my japanese :eeking:)

Shoma said he didn't remember anything from the Olympics because he still feels so strongly about Worlds. He also said he didn't leave his room at the Olympics. He also said he didn't meet Nao Kodaira and Miho Takaki (Speed skaters from Japan, who are about to attend the Stars on Ice in Yokohama) at the village but at the dismissal after they went back to Japan and talked with them. When asked about what to do after he returned home from competition and what he wants to eat he said since he still feel regretful so he wants to prepare himself fully and restart training, theres nothing in particular he wants to eat. (Which is shocking because um, where is the yakiniku????)

Thanks for the translation link. Gosh, sometimes these guys (and girls) are so hard on themselves. I wish he could take this spring/summer as a victory lap for his amazing achievements but at the same time, I suppose it's hard to get to this point in the sport without being self-critical since I'm sure it'll drive him to keep pushing on.

japan fans make SUPER MARIO err i mean super suitcase shoma gif 😂

OMG this is too cute! Shoma and those evil veggies, lol. As a gamer himself, I wonder if Shoma would play a game based off him.

Hi, everybody. I'm a little new here, I already wrote before in the foro, but not in this thread.
I'm from Uruguay so English is not my first language, I apologize in advance for any mistake.
I like very much Shoma style for skate, the way he dance and express with all his body is amazing. His jumps are getting better and better with time. He has improved a lot lately in his technique and far from losing artistry in the process, he enhance it more.
I get upset and sad when I knew about some ridiculous rumors, like he rented the official rink, and was glad to read here what you thought about it. I can't believe he have haters with his sweet and respectful personality.
I understand how Shoma is feeling right now. As Likevelvet said, I don't think he medaled the way he wanted to at Worlds, he can be proud of how hard he fought and kept (with Kazuki) the spots for Japan, but the performance was not at his usual level and he wanted to improve his level even more so it ended up being frustrating. Additionally he felt guilty about the boots issue that cause the injury.
But at the same time, I'm worry about how bad he is regretting and blaming himself. The flu wasn't his fault and he didn't have rest in a long time so the boots issue is understandable.
Is a good thing to be self critical, because it help you to improve more but I'm worry.
He said before GPF he didn't believe he could land any jump, and after Japan Nationals he is said things like "I knew that I would fail before I even took off"
He always say he have to practice more but he usually do practice a lot and at WC 2017 (and Lombardia, 4CC, etc.) he did it pretty well so I don't think he is that bad in his skating level.
I think his major issue is his lack of self confidence and I think it increase when he has more pressure from Japan.
I don't know if I make myself understand, as I said, this is not my first lenguage, but I just wanted to share my thought because I'm worry about how low his selfsteem is, and he have to compete with Yuzuru next time... I like Hanyu too but I want to see Shoma win this time.
He probably become more consistent if he believe in himself more.
I read here that Shoma don't want the WC title but wanna win, I understand exactly what he means, but unfortunately is not possible, one thing brings the other.
(Sorry for the long post)

Welcome on this FF Hayashi ! :)
I think Shoma is more frustrated that he didn't do his best and that he didn't manage to bring both of his programs to their full potential (even Lombardia wasn't perfect...) than that he keeps getting silver... and especially he has his performance at Wolrds fresh in his mind where he did the worst of his season, and he cannot accept the boot problem as an excuse... :S and then it's the problem that he lost to himself so I understand his frustration. I really hope next year he manages to win to himself and to get better results through the season and then maybe he'll realize that his best self is able to beat the others ? ^^

Welcome Hayashi!

This season is rough for Shoma in so many ways. He peaked at Lombardia then got sick after SC and didn’t seemed to be able to skate his best in Idf then at GPF that was in his hometown he lost by 0.5 to Nathan. I think this knocked him out the worst. Some people saw him looking really sad after GPF then I also saw a little clip on youtube of him walking out of the arena covering his face with a huge hoodie refusing to talk to media while kept saying ‘gomenasai’. He bounced back a little bit after 4CC and he even said he just felt relieved after his FS there so i guess he found a bit more confidence going into the olympic after that and it resulted in the silver medal. But then worlds happened so it was very very rough for him. The important thing is even when he feels really low he didn’t give up on skating he already said he wants to practice so he can be better and avoid the same situation. So I won’t worry too much, he seems to know what he wants to achieve and as Doug Haw said ‘He has guts!’.

I am always amazed by Shoma's musicality; here's one example from the WC Gala: a 3A right on the beat. And there are many, many more in Sho's programs.
I am currently making final touches to my long post about 'This town', which I am writing (for the first time in the history of my blog, hehe) in two different languages: English and Russian. So, if anyone's interested here, I can share the link later.

I always look forward to your thoughtful posts. And thank you for doing it in English this time!

And a little late to the fiesta -- but welcome to all the new posters! :cheer:

Was a really rough season... I met him at his worst season. I wish he could know how many fans he gained even in this circumstances, his skating tell something even if he is not at his best and after you saw his good skating, and you know what he is able to do, you can't ignore him just because of a bad season.

I'm less worry today... I think I was wrong about something, the overpractice goal is not that bad, he is insecurity can be helped by that, is a common thing for insecure persons, to gain confidence you have to practice ten times more than required (in my own experience).

You are right, "he has guts", he never give up. Just hope he don't get hurt and can start the new season with good energy and overpass his best score by far, with clean performances.
