So sorry for the bother. I got worry and hurry up to make questions without enough hesitation. I'll try not to make the same mistake again
Really sorry

Thank you Hronop, your post is full of profound thoughts and intense admiration which I had a great time reading it. There is nothing more I can say about how I really appreciate your beautiful post. (Btw I didn't know it was choreographed by David Wilson, did Shoma go to Canada to learn it? I probably missed it)

In Dec. 2016, Shoma was in Chicago doing jump training with Alex. After that, before flying back to Japan, he flew to Toronto to work with David Wilson briefly. We all wondered why he was there and what was going on, and the next thing we knew, we saw his beautiful new EX at 4CC in Feb. 2017.

Welcome Hayashi!

This season is rough for Shoma in so many ways. He peaked at Lombardia then got sick after SC and didn’t seemed to be able to skate his best in Idf then at GPF that was in his hometown he lost by 0.5 to Nathan. I think this knocked him out the worst. Some people saw him looking really sad after GPF then I also saw a little clip on youtube of him walking out of the arena covering his face with a huge hoodie refusing to talk to media while kept saying ‘gomenasai’. He bounced back a little bit after 4CC and he even said he just felt relieved after his FS there so i guess he found a bit more confidence going into the olympic after that and it resulted in the silver medal. But then worlds happened so it was very very rough for him. The important thing is even when he feels really low he didn’t give up on skating he already said he wants to practice so he can be better and avoid the same situation. So I won’t worry too much, he seems to know what he wants to achieve and as Doug Haw said ‘He has guts!’.

Yeah, I think he did not feel good about season because he did not end it with his best performance, like he did the previous season. Also a lot of that was because of circumstance, with his boot problems and subsequent injury. Maybe he peaked too soon, I really liked his performance at 4cc even though he had 1 fall at the beginning of LP, his spins were great.

I love Shoma and Tarah’s interaction he looks so comfy with her!

And Hayashi, I went through the same thing as you when I first getting to know Shoma but everyone here has been so supportive and showed me that most of the thing the haters said are just ridiculous. As an example Toyota doesn’t just sponsor Shoma they also sponsor Nathan and Ashley so it is ridiculous to say Toyota paid off judges for Shoma when Nathan has the same chance of winning a medal. And as for the rink, the JSF might have provide it for him but he wasn’t the only one using it and it was at the time when he started going to competition as far as one week before to tackle his jetlag problem. A lot of skating federation does this for their skaters. During the olympic JSF also provide a rink in Seoul for all the Japanese skaters to practice. But it’s never just exclusive for the japanese team let alone one skater. Along the way you will see that the haters remarks are just laughable. The important thing is almost all expert in figure skating love Shoma and acknowledge his talent and that he is special so don’t let random people on youtube and tumblr get into your head and don’t waste your energy on them.

I think many of us Shoma fans have gone through same thing. It surprises that some haters can be so spiteful because they are fans of a competitor skater or for some other reason. Very good advice.

I know this is not a pleasant topic but still I want to say to Hayashi, don´t worry! I have followed FS social media only for some time and at first I was confused too about the controversial comments about skaters in social media. Because in FS judging is partly based on subjective opinions, fans can have very different kind of opinions but so it is also with experts and judges, they don´t always agree either.

I know `hate` and `haters` are commonly used words in FS but I rather speak about unfair criticism. I believe it is fine to discuss about it here in general level without blaming anyone, isn´t it?

Imo Shoma has received quite a lot of it in social media as a skater and unfortunately sometimes as a person too. But, on the other hand he has very many fans and many experts, TV commentators and also judges respect him. His skating skills have been argued among FS fans but always when he skates clean or nearly clean he gets high scores and that is the most important thing. There are a lot more positive thoughts about him in the air than the opposite ones!

Don’t worry Hayashi, you wrote your worries and what was mentioned needed to be mentioned. And posts? They are read by people who read it at the time anyway, so makes no difference. Anything that happens is useful because it confirms what I wrote. Perhaps what was posted were meant to be posted and read by the ones that did read them, none of it is a problem Hayashi. :)

^^^I always feel bad when they don't mention Coach Yamada, because she is really the head coach who has been working with him since he was 5 years old. I have total faith that he will get good choreography again. And he has shown us (especially with unusual pieces like Legends and Loco) that he really commits 100% to learning how to move in new ways. I hope they will have Stephane work with him again too. There is so much to look forward to for the upcoming season! I can't wait! :hap10:

I agree, I don't think that it means that they won't collaborate with other choreographers as he did with David Wilson for exhibition "This Town" or Stephane Lambiel. A lot of Japanese coaches / choreographers don't get enough credit.

Shoma can make any choreography work;). My only hope is that he'll stay away from Turandot for the rest of his skating career.

I really hope Mihoko picks the weirdest music she can possibly find. We all know she's capable of it, with Legends and Loco, and coincidentally those two programs have my favorite choreography.

Agree, PC wise he has no problem anyway, and I think Shoma really wants to win gold with Mihoko's program. I do think Shoma needs an extra coach for his technic though and if he doesn't want to train abroad is there any in Japan that could potentially be his third coach?

He trains with Alex Ouriashev in the summer and his jumps have improved little by little over last few seasons. I dont think that a coaching change is necessary because Shoma is such a hard worker and he's gotten great results throughout his senior career.

Apparently Shoma was asked about his plans with choreography for next season and he stated his plans to stay with his coach. https://twitter.com/yuzuporuko/status/981280218718519298

I don't know how the stars are aligning but I came here specifically to ask if anyone had an idea for when we'd hear about new stuff  . I am looking forward to whatever his team cooks up next. I know Olys season is typically conservative and he did well with what he had, but the more out of the box it is, the more I love it when it comes to him. I still in my heart of hearts would love for him to skate to Final Fantasy (I can't not picture him when I listen to this music), but I feel like whatever he chooses, it'll be great. Does anyone have any guesses for what we could be in for next season?
