Shoma's collection of medals from this season! :jaw:

Not just from this season actually. Upper row: the first on the left is definitely from Helsinki, then GPF 2017, then 4CC 2018, then ??? (maybe from the small medal ceremony in Milan?), then Milan 2018. Lower row: Japan nationals and Olys. Not sure about the 4th one from the left in the upper row, but all other medals are sorted in the chronological order. :)
No gold medals from SK and Lombardia, and no plastic star from France. :)

So many medals for Shoma - a very successful season that deserves many yummy meals of yakiniku to celebrate!

Maybe the yakiniku guys should make him bring in ALL his medals, including his juvenile, novice and junior medals. That will keep them busy looking for a while! And nolangoh, I think gold and silver are both pretty awesome! Hopefully a few more gold next year! :cheer: I don't see any Skate America or Sk Can medals. They are really nice and look like heavy glass and / or acrylic...We still haven't heard what the Shoma Special is at the yakiniku place!

Not to mean anything, but I personally really think silver is a much better-looking colour than gold  Of course I hope he can get more gold in the future !;)

I’ve always been more of a silver person, aesthetically, and honestly I think the silver goes really well with both his costumes this season. Still, it’d be awesome to see him with some more gold ;)

I have not yet heard of the 'Shoma Special' - but I would assume it is the highest-grade, most luxurious beef available, of course

Yes thats the small medal from Milan, you can see "Milan 2018" at the bottom of the ring of the medal. I wonder why don't they polish the medals to make it more shiny (like the GPF one), matte metal colour for medals look really old.

And yes the Skate Canada glass medal is very nice too, not too flashy with the metal but a more subtle approach. It reminds me of the medals from Albertville!

Only something fitting for royalty would be good enough to be Shoma Special

I don't know, this meat (and others on their Instagram) looks pretty darn fatty to me! I guess Itsuki said they order the less fat meat. Not too appealing for an almost vegetarian person! :eekn: https://www.instagram.com/p/BRJTedQlvd9/

That looks yummy. The best yakiniku that I've tried in the US is Tsuruhashi in Fountain Valley, CA - I highly recommend Shoma to try it if he goes to next year's 4cc in Anaheim😍

What if he has a silver earring starting from next season? :eeking: That would be...super...HOT! :dbana::dbana::dbana:

I would love it if he had small silver studs on his ears and silver nail polish (or black too). That would be hot.:dbana: Silver is the new Gold for Shoma, but I want him to win gold.

I've translated and transcribed the LP of Shoma's in Milan of the german channel ONE, for those who are interested. No offense intended.

German Channel ONE - Original Commentary, Shoma Uno LP, Worlds, Milan (Daniel Weiss & Paul Fentz 15th place at Worlds)

(D)aniel Weiss: One of the favourites has been Shoma Uno. At the moment he is in 5th place, second at the Olympic Games. Japanese Champion when Yuzuru Hanyu was out due to injury. Now he has to catch up. Purely classical, Puccini's Turandot. Violin Fantasy played by Vanessa Mae and at the end Nessun Dorma sung by Jose Carreras. Typical japanese opera drama on the ice.

Quadruple Loop.

Ah...Quadruple Flip, extremely high risk.

Ahh... he is risking it all and just doesn't stop quadruple Toeeloop. Almost reminds me of Zagitova's skate yesterday.

Yes, he doesn't give up!

(P)aul Fentz: Wow.

D: He doesn't give up and jumps another Quad, and that in combination. 3 minutes and 25 seconds reads the clock.

Not only the 3000 Japanese Fans are thrilled about this final minute of Shoma Uno. You gotta do this first, Paul. Land on your bottom three, no four times and THEN show a Quadruple.

P: Yes, he's fallen three times, unfortunately that will lead to a 4 point deduction.

D: Yes, four points of course, because he's fallen 3 times, this way.

P: Exactly. But, a skater that gets 30 points in the last minute with his jumps, yes you cannot say anything about it other than, well, he simply belongs on the top of the World.

D: I would like to draw a connection, however to Alina Zagitova, because for all of you this season has been very long.

P: Yes.

D: Figure Skating is one of the few sports that has a World Championship in the Olympic Year. And that is a huge strain on the athletes.

P: Yes, well, but I'm an advocate for having Worlds after the Olympics. The Season is very long, and well, in summer we're not relaxing, essentially we even work harder then. It's an all-year round sport, like you said earlier.

D: Yes, and he didn't have a chance at the Quadruples. None of them was even slightly well landed. Another sentence about Alina Zagitova, she showed yesterday that she's not a machine. Because if you watched her during the last few months, you might've thought, she can always deliver. Wake her in the middle of the night, and she does her thing. But yesterday, she showed nerves, and I think this was good for the further development of Alina.

P: I think so too. And the nice thing to see is that, she's only human after all. Noone can always give 100% in every competition and that's the nice and interesting thing about our sport. Everyone starts at 0 points at a competition, and then there is a fight for the medals.

D: And then there is that big risk of Alina, to start with choreographic elements and spins and then, if something happens she has no chance to get back into the rhythm, because she has to deliver again immediately.

P: Yep, no more time left.

D: Yes. Yes, naturally he is far away from his best scores, but still it's hard to explain to the audience how someone who landed on his butt three times can now take the lead.

P: Yes, but that's because the last minute gets him extra points and if he conjures such magical jumps with good quality the points will follow.

D: Colleagues from other sports who don't watch figure skating often say, that's not possible, he falls so often and leads anyway.

P: Yes.

D: Even if we two can explain.

P: Yes.

Half of this is about Alina, but I translated it anyway.

Here's the Original:

Ganz klassisch Puccini's Turandot. Gespielt von Vanessa Mae die Violinenfantasie und dann zum Ende Nessun Dorma gesungen von Jose Carreras. Typisches Japanisches Operndrama auf dem Eis.

Vierfach Rittberger.

Ah...Vierfach Flip, wahnsinnig hohes Risiko.

P: Ja.

Now that the off-season is here, it’s great to reflect on what an amazing season of growth, challenges, and improvement this has been for Shoma. Even though our expectations continue to rise for him, he still is able to rise to the occasion and meet these challenges. I measure his success not only in terms of jumps and elements but also in the sum of his technical, artistic, and personal experiences both on and off the ice. Many thanks to the Prince for all his hard work!

--Jumped 4S in competition for the first time at Lombardia.
--Increased the success rate on his jump with rolling 3’s into 4T.
--Had very high success rate on his 3-jump sequence.
--Experienced the difficulties of skating while coping with a nagging injury but was still able to persevere.
--Made great strides in his one-foot skating, especially in his SP.
--Skated in more than 30 off-season ice shows.
--Donated his time and skated at two Glacier Ice Arena ice shows as their special guest.
--Worked on skating skills and moves in the field with ice dance coach Romain Haguenauer.
--Worked with choreographer Sam Chouinard.
--Worked with Stephane Lambiel on his “Winter” choreography.
--Trained jumps with jump specialist, Alex Ouriashev.
--Was on the podium at every competition he entered (3 Gold, 5 Silver)

--Scored over 200 in the FS at Lombardia and the Oly Individual.
--Was in the 300 Club at Lombardia, SC, and the Olys.
--Played an important role for Team Japan in the team event competitions, Japan Open and Olys. He helped Japan win the bronze at the Japan Open and scored the highest score in the Men’s SP at the Oly Team Event.
--Fought hard in the important battle against his own nerves.
--Executed his team’s well-thought-out plan to help him peak at the Olys.
--Continued his pattern of grit, determination, and humility.
--Proved to be very adept at handling the media. Putting aside the jokes about his sleepiness, we can see that his answers to questions are well thought out, and he refuses to be baited by the media.
--He received an important sponsorship from Toyota. Continued his sponsorships with Colan Totte and
Chukyo University.
--He turned 20 and had his ceremony for officially becoming an adult.
--He gave us a mystery we may never solve. Who was the lucky recipient here?! https://www.instagram.com/p/BcXPjnIDoe7/?tagged=shomauno

Thanks for the translation, MaiKatze!! Daniel seems to be an Alina fan, it was sort of weird that he compared Shoma to Alina here. Well, maybe not so weird, since he didn't seem to know of the injury, and pertained to the falls. Paul had good comments, nice to read them! It seems that skaters in general do admire his skating ("a skater's skater", as Kurt Browning said).

Thanks for the summary of achievements, Arriba! I always enjoy reading them!

I'm not sure if that was really meant to be a kiss, but it was probably directed towards Coach Yamada? I think she was there then. I wonder if he knows how many fans he killed with that [emoji8]. [emoji13]
