Thank you all for sharing so many links, information, translations, pictures... :thank:

Shoma's looking good and confident. It's nice to see him being comfortable during interviews and I love his answers. He has such a good sense of humor!

Belayed welcome to jerrymouse and thanks for your post! So lucky you were there even though you weren't able to have the best view.

I wonder what was the other SP he had and when did he decide to stick to StH? Guess we'll never know... :confused2:

I've been scanning the evening news on the internet and they seem to focus on Shoma talking about liking Cassis Orange, and how funny some of the quotes are in his calendar.

...I guess the media is not so interested in his ribbons

so cool! how did it work? did people in the crowd ask the questions?

I read from other tweets that only MC and fans who shake hands with Shoma asked questions.

It's great that we are flooded with Shoma news again! EVERYDAY Shoma! :hap10:
Shoma's answer remains his typical style, I almost laughed out when I read the tweet saying:
MC: What did you feel when you hear "Stairway to Heaven" in the first time?
Shoma: (My feeling was,) That song I haven't heard before.
Audience (looks like): Oh little prince that's not what the MC wants you to answer...

On the other hand, it's great that Shoma looks even more handsome (and HOT and adorable...sorry I am lack of vocabulary)
He has changed his "drinking habit" from 2-3 bottles of milk tea to drinking cassis orange at home himself,
but he remains unchanged in his love of gaming and his attitude towards competition (even he became the silver medalist in OG)

There's a Chinese idiom "choose what is good and hold fast to it" (I hope google translate is reliable)...Shoma is stubborn. However his stubbornness is a good one (well..apart from niku-niku only...)

It will be Lombardia before we know it :yay:

We are so spoiled.
Nothing makes me happier than to know that Shoma is healthy, happy and ready for the new season.

Such fun getting caught up on all the news from Grampus and (especially) ColanTotte. I didn't think it was possible for him to look more kakkoii than last year, but he did! Surprised he didn't melt the chair he was sitting on. That dry sense of humor of his cracks me up! jerrymouse, thank you for sharing your experiences at the event. It sounded really fun. Thank you to everyone for all the photos, interviews, etc. :dbana: :dbana: :dbana: :dbana: :dbana: :dbana:

I'm glad he clarified the situation with his hand injury.

I've just remembered this part of a TSL interview with Doug Haw after the mens event at the Olympics where Doug said: "he is the best looking Asian ever.....he's best dressed" :D

while searching something else, i refound that old interview of Shoma from August 2016 before the Loco season started. Some very interesting things about his approach of programs, the rest/training balance, being cautious of injuries... a super read!! http://shoma-uno.tumblr.com/post/148353088974/shomas-interview-in-figure-skating-team-japan

Shedi0806 that Doug Haw episode was a goldmine of very nice quotes about Shoma!!:agree:
"the most attractive Asian ever, always very well dressed, the best skater after Patrick Chan, the best knees and he has guts"

So good to revisit that interview and hear that especially from a person who is such a technical expert and I feel like a sucker for great skating.

Shoma said " Thank you for coming to such a short and boring talk today." in the end of the event yesterday.
We laughed a lot.
I think everyone enjoyed his talk.
Maybe he has a sense of humor, demarinis5.
He never says what people feel uncomfortable, and he is modest.
Only people who shook hands with him could talk to him, daphenaxa.

@jerrymouse I do believe Sho has a good sense of humor which he has been
showing more and more with each event.

Today an interview with the publisher was released: https://www.fnn.jp/posts/00352972HDK

For everyday Shoma calendar, there are only 16 pages, because:
"There's no month or weekdays (S/M/T/W/T/F/S) printed in everyday calendar so that it could be "reuse" next year/ next next year..."

Btw, Shoma checked all the quotes and even suggested some quotes to print on calendar.

According to the interview w/ the publisher above, there will be a quote and pic used when Shoma was 11 years old (the publisher said it's a secret one? now people in tweeter are guessing what the quote will be) <- Let's guess what the "secret quote" is!

I was looking for a translation of my favorite post Olympics interview and could not find it so here is my attempt. (only partial)

https://youtu.be/iQT8I2J2RBQ

Title is “What he sees beyond the silver medal”. with an interview filmed 2 weeks after the Olympics.

The video with the “usual” set of wth-is-this-weirdo clips, and then an interview beginning with the “usual” set of questions “Tennen (airhead?) or not” and “why was Olympics not special to you?”.

The interesting bit is the clip in the middle (around 2:30 to 4:54).

Shoma shocks the interviewer by saying “I have forgotten about the OG and is focusing on Worlds now”, goes on to say “I don’t see the point in dwelling on past results, except to learn from mistakes. I want to be at my best for the next competition and that includes not letting the pressure (e.g.!of the Silver medal) get to me in a negative way”

When asked how he felt about going into Worlds as Olympic medalist,
“Titles don’t matter, With all (top skaters) having similar high level skills/programs, whoever that skates clean is going to win. Just because someone won in one competition does not mean s/he will win in another. Whoever does the best in that particular competition will win it”.

When asked about his silver medals and would he not want to be world best?
“Ultimately yes, that is what I strive for, I don’t want to lose to anyone. Every time I compete, I want to win. But I want to focus on each competition as it comes and do my absolute best at that skate to be satisfied with it”.

The narrator finally admits “this guy is looking straight at the future, he is TOUGH!” (no airhead!):agree:
====

I love his consistency in saying world standings and even Olympic medals do not affect subsequent performances.

He is super kakkoii and super polite (some of the questions are old and asked in a rude way.)

I feel everyone is entitled to their own opinion about Olympics and medals; so does Shoma. He is just speaking for himself and has no intention of being disrespectful to the Gold medalist.

@jerrymouse I do believe Sho has a good sense of humor which he has been
showing more and more with each event.

Besides that crazy / dry sense of humor, I love how he is quick to laugh! I used to think it was out of nervousness, but I don't think so. He is definitely not a stone face! (gee, this almost calls for me to post my favorite giggle again, but I won't do it! :laugh2: )

Post it! Post it! Post it!
