I was looking for a translation of my favorite post Olympics interview and could not find it so here is my attempt. (only partial)
https://youtu.be/iQT8I2J2RBQ
Title is “What he sees beyond the silver medal”. with an interview filmed 2 weeks after the Olympics.
The video with the “usual” set of wth-is-this-weirdo clips, and then an interview beginning with the “usual” set of questions “Tennen (airhead?) or not” and “why was Olympics not special to you?”.
The interesting bit is the clip in the middle (around 2:30 to 4:54).
Shoma shocks the interviewer by saying “I have forgotten about the OG and is focusing on Worlds now”, goes on to say “I don’t see the point in dwelling on past results, except to learn from mistakes. I want to be at my best for the next competition and that includes not letting the pressure (e.g.!of the Silver medal) get to me in a negative way”
When asked how he felt about going into Worlds as Olympic medalist,
“Titles don’t matter, With all (top skaters) having similar high level skills/programs, whoever that skates clean is going to win. Just because someone won in one competition does not mean s/he will win in another. Whoever does the best in that particular competition will win it”.
When asked about his silver medals and would he not want to be world best?
“Ultimately yes, that is what I strive for, I don’t want to lose to anyone. Every time I compete, I want to win. But I want to focus on each competition as it comes and do my absolute best at that skate to be satisfied with it”.
The narrator finally admits “this guy is looking straight at the future, he is TOUGH!” (no airhead!):agree:

I love his consistency in saying world standings and even Olympic medals do not affect subsequent performances.
He is super kakkoii and super polite (some of the questions are old and asked in a rude way.)
I feel everyone is entitled to their own opinion about Olympics and medals; so does Shoma. He is just speaking for himself and has no intention of being disrespectful to the Gold medalist.
