aww i'm kinda bummed that shoma won't get to go see Daichan compete like he wanted to. I'm sure he would have been so inspired by him too.

Oh that is to bad, no Shoma at Westerns. I think he made the right decision though with NHK right around the corner.
He needs to rest, recharge and practice. We would not want our Shomita to end up in his own Shospital. :noshake:

As much as I would have loved to see him cheering for Dai I’m glad he’s very focused on his practice. Fingers crossed they’ll meet at nationals. It’s so good that the next comp is NHK, no more jet lag and long flights for our Prince, he seemed so tired at SC.

Btw Yoshiko uploaded some new pics from SC, gorgeous as usual, she’s really talented. Ofc Shoma looking flawless helps https://instagram.com/yoshiko.0109?utm_source=ig_profile_share&igshid=ff9j41v59fz4

Love that! Has to be from when his National Anthem ended during the medals ceremony. So cute!

Too bad he'll miss Uncle Dai, but training comes first. Good idea to stay out of big crowds too. Less chance of getting sick and ending up in the ShoSPAtal. He needs to train with that contraption / mask he has that simulates high-altitude training.

It's a good quality video :) Thanks MK!

One video of Shoma's Moonlight Sonata is fast becoming one of his most-watched skates with 143k views and counting! :luv17: Makes me so happy :)
{Just for fun, I recently came up with a list of his top dozen most watched skates}

Jenni will upload a subbed Moonlight Sonata from Skate Canada when she returns from Helsinki - if you have a YT account you can subscribe to the channel. You can count on the DBC for all your Shoma needs!

Oh, that looks like an interesting list! Mind sharing it? I'm curious which performances are the most watched. I know it's imperfect since some videos get erased and some have multiple videos of the same performance, but it would still be fun to know. I know his "see you again" video in Skate America 2016 hit over a million views, but I'm not sure if the video is still up.

How amazing is this?! 20 podiums for Shoma. What a warrior!

[emoji4] He's fantastic. I just realized that the first 10 of those podiums all occurred in the 2016-17 season. If you count Japan Open, that means he joined 11 competitions that season and got a medal in all of them.

Did he leave the medal there?

I think so, not sure how long he lend his medal to Rion though.

p.s. Rion used "Shoma senshu" instead of "Uno senshu" in their messages...guess they get used to call the prince "Shoma" ;)

:) I loved the Skate America ex video you mentioned^^
It was the first ever skate of his that I watched of his online but I haven't found it again since.

This is quite belated but watching Shoma live was such a lifechanging experience. I knew he was a gorgeous skater but somehow he's even better in person. Everything that I loved about his skating seemed to be amplified tenfold in person and all of the things that I disliked seemed far less detrimental. Moonlight Sonata is still quite empty but his overall presence fills in the empty spaces of the program and it's easy to forgive.

when you say Moonlight shomata is "empty", i neither agree nor disagree, i'm not sure to be honest, i would say it is certainly very bare but i don't know if it's "empty". My question to you is : did you feel it was empty because it was missing some elements/transitions etc. that will be added - or not - later, depending on how his training goes, or did you feel it was purposefully empty?
I'm pretty sure the emptiness or non-busyness are deliberate to present a very clean, minimalistic kind of aesthetic. I guess maybe to a fault since everyone keeps whining about the emptiness. But i was wondering what the feeling about it was live?
