I agree. Talent can only take you so far. You have to really WANT it and have the drive to practice day in and day out. His dedication and work ethic is incredible.

BTW -- I saw your post in another thread. I'm sorry you didn't have the chance to see the Prince at the GPF in Vancouver. There is usually a FOR SALE section here on GS for tickets for events. There were many available tickets after several skaters withdrew. Some were as cheap as 50% off.

ADDING -- Oh hooray! Just saw that Yoshiko's banner was returned. Thank goodness! I felt so bad for her. Everyone wants to own a beautiful, princely banner like that one. All's well that ends well!!!!

Oh, I wish I knew! well, I promised myself a ticket one day when one of the competitions is in a beatiful city, i’ll Be more proactive.

I had a strange situation. I booked a hotel in Jan. 2018 but then never got a GPF ticket. I still kept the hotel reservation. All of a sudden there was a small flurry of tickets available on the FOR SALE page. Later, I realized that the tickets went on sale the day it was known that Mikhail Kolyada would not be there. Then a few days later, people were selling their tickets when they realized Mr. Hanyu wasn't going to be there. I bought my ticket probably November 20th. It's hard when you are coming from out of town and have to try to book a plane fare and a hotel quickly...Sk Can 2019 is in Kelowna. Don't know if that's anywhere near you, and of course we don't know yet if the Prince will have Sk Can (for the 3rd year in a row). I hope so!

Just curious, anybody here going to world's practice mainrink on the 18th and 19th?
Please PM me, I need a friend to fangirl with. :o:

Yup, I will certainly keep closer tabs next year. But I like the unedited broadcasts from ISU as well. Can’t wait for WC. :)

Update: It seems that the banner was sent to U.S. Figure Skating by someone, and it will be sent back to Japan (to Yoshiko-san)!
I am glad that Yoshiko-san can get back her really precious banner...

Thank you for the update! What a relief!!! Very good news on a very special day :ghug::ghug::ghug:! Happy Anniversary on your first Olympic medal, Shomita!! :cheer::cheer::cheer: It doesn't quite feel like it was a full year ago that I was in Korea watching it all go down. Just wild!

Happy anniversary to Olympics Winter :luv17: Shoma’s Winter in general but especially the performances at the Olympics hold a special place in my heart, I was a pretty new fan of him back then and I was just blown away. Such a gorgeous program and it fit Shoma so well. I feel like it’s a bit underrated bc of the “oh, no, it’s a warhorse” mentality

It really did fit him well. I had never seen or even heard of him before, and it was love at first sight. :luv17:

Korean Olympics was so memorable, just incredible to watch the figureskating. I watched the one from Sochi as well, but I really got hooked up on Pyeongchang one... Shoma Uno had a lion’s share as to why... Zagitova as well, because seeing YL burn-out so fast after Sochi really freaked me out. That’s why I am so paranoid about Uno not going to extremes of extremes.

Ah, it was a great one year for Uno. :)

Don't worry, Sho is not a little 80 pound waif about to experience a growth spurt. He is S-T-R-O-N-G! In fact, he's like a https://www.bing.com/images/search?...ges&selectedindex=8&ajaxhist=0&vt=0&eim=1,2,6

Well, the interview someone posted mentioned that they will incorporate better stretching, so I am glad to hear that, but I keep worrying that with the kind of flexibility he demonstrates his joints are going to suffer. I do not know much about the excersise science and I am just counting on the athletes and coaches to be protective.

But, yes, he is built like something from planet Earth, not grown among the elves in the far reaches of the Galaxy... and it is intergral to his charisma, imo.

An Uno Family rule -- you don't need to eat anything you don't like?! I can just hear Sho's young admirers saying "But mom, UnO Shoma doesn't eat his vegetables!!!...Anxious to learn what the rest of Tree's remarks are.

Sometimes I do worry about Shoma's diet. I hope he gets plenty of nutrients through vitamins or something like that! It's only because I want him to stay healthy. :hopelessness:

At least we know Demi-san makes Shoma have veggie juice whenever he makes a mistake in competition 😆
Now we just need Itsuki to convince him to have homemade veggie soup once a month during the off season.

gacchan, thank you so much for the translation! I look forward to the next part. I feel very grateful that Shoma is surrounded by kind people who all wish him the best for his career, including Demi-san. Also.. Shoma's heart is truly gentle that he is motivated the most to win for the people who supported him, more than for himself.

Also, today is the first anniversary of Olympic Winter: https://mobile.twitter.com/gorin/status/1096574884300369920

Still a stunning program a year after. Those spins together at the end with the violins is such a highlight. I'm still really impressed by the construction of this program, it truly feels like a winter witch prince coming in to bring frost with his fingertips. I guess I also have to thank Mama Uno for requesting Vivaldi's Winter to Fluffy, because it's one of her favorites that she wants to see Shoma skate to.

And, it seems that the silver curse has really lifted XD Grampus the Orca won 1st place for the J-League favorite mascot (?) Award: https://mobile.twitter.com/J_League/status/1096644383917539328

Thank you! What joy to suddenly see this absolute masterpiece again!

I always wondered if Mrs Uno fell in love with "Winter" thru Lambiel's wonderful skate of it. If so, she was probably thrilled with Sho and Stephane's fabulous ice show collaboration of that song. Yes, the Prince's spins are phenomenal!...I will NEVER forget the spectator (who was a judge) sitting in front of me at Skate Canada who (after Sho's Winter) turned to her friend and said "Now THAT is how you skate a short program!"...Yes, totally agree! :dbana:

Maybe he just thrives on mostly meat, some people are like that.

My biggest concern is if he gets enough calcium. With the hard falls they all take, they definitely need strong bones. He seems to like milk and yogurt. Demi may have him on some kind of a vitamin regimen. We need to have a Question & Answer session with him so we can find out all this important stuff. :luv17:

Oh, I thought athletes do not use much milk products because of the fear of postnasal, but maybe it was just milk... there are certainly plenty of from food alternatives for Ca.

He does not look dangerously undernourished, and, well, his athletic performance is peerless... that’s why we are here after all. chances are he just eats what works... alas, alas, does not mean that if the rest of us skip veggies we will be as well off
