GPF is decided to be canceled.

Shoma, stay healthy, and focus on Nationals! :hap10:
Technically it's postponed. Maybe they hope another federation will pick it up or they're working to move it to the end of the season.
All just delaying the inevitable.
Nationals should be epic. Stay healthy and calm, everyone. Pray for our athletes.

Oh, I did not that another federation will take. Thank you for the info!

It's been a while since I posted, but I just want to share the new unowan video.

The video title translates to "Days that do not Change" using my translator, and I thought it was a meaningful title. Happy to see Shoma is with his family, his puppies, his quads and his trainer. Stay safe, stay healthy and good luck for Nationals Shoma!!!

I have emotional feelings to see it! How lovely he and his surroundings. Very calm and peaceful movie so as not to worry fans. And the scenery around Chukyo University rink is really beautiful.
I cannot wait Nationals! Go Shoma, show your performance! :ghug:

So disappointed that GPF was cancelled, but the athletes seem to be accepting it with positive attitudes, so I guess that's what we should do too. The positive thing is that it gives more time to train for Nationals. I guess Emma-chan doesn't care that GPF was cancelled, she just wants her favorite guy to pet her and play with her!

On a more fun side, I had a good time sending out my Christmas cards this year. They turned out really nice! One of my favorite photos!20211120_172323.jpg

Wow, this card is really pretty. It can even be sent to people who're not into FS and who won't wonder at who's the boy, it could be a model.

This is soo lovely! And his face!

And I wish your fans happy happy Christmas!:hap10:

Today's Sholero practice! Runthrough jumps were 4Lo, 4S, 4F, 3A, 4F3T, a fall on 4T (his right hand took a hit there hhhh) and 3A1eu3F, also a 4T3Lo attempt later. He really seems to be going for that 2 x 4F layout now! 4F3T at the second half is quite impressive, also the 4Lo and 4S are looking surprisingly solid now. Ganba Shoma! 💪

Looking good!!! I really do hope it's possible for Stepen to be with him for Nats, and with Koshiro too. Can't they allow the coaches to do a quarantine?! I'm glad they're being careful, but JSF needs to fight for some of this stuff . Come on!...Sho is looking so strong. He is a shoo-in for an Oly spot. :cheer: :hb::ghug::bsplit:

(My tablet keeps auto-correcting Koshiro to "mosquito"!!!!! ) :laugh2:

It really is not fair for the skaters who train abroad. Nationals is a stressful competition and more so this year as Olympic spots are on the line. The skaters who will be coachless will be at a disadvantage without their coaches.

I agree and am so annoyed about this! Stephane quarantined last year and I'm sure would be more than willing to do so this year. I'm sure Koshiro wants him there too! If skaters can quarantine but be allowed to go (only) back and forth to the rink to practice, why shouldn't it be the same for coaches?

While we're waiting during these rather slow weeks, I want to bring back a post I did around 3 years ago. It still has some comments and remarks from people that will always be near and dear to my heart. I added a few recent ones too. Forgive the repetition, but these things really express the essence of Shoma and why I love both him and his skating!

-He skates like it's the last skate of his life each time, and his coach has the same enthusiasm every time. (Jonathan Beyer)

--He was such a cute kid. He is still a gentle kid with a cute personality, but he turned into a young boy and now he's a beautiful young adult. I think everything about him is growing steadily in a great direction. (Coach Yamada)

--He is completely well dressed. He has the best knees. He is the best skater after Patrick Chan, and he has guts. (Doug Haw)

--Even though he's a small guy, he's got strength in his legs. Look at those thighs. (BESP guys)

--Mystery words. What exactly IS she saying? Coach Fluffy always knew how to help him stay calm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_CoYMxlMkY Bonus -- THE coat. (Coach Fluffy)

--Look at those skating skills. Look at that core -- so solid. Even with the quad flip, it's still the skating skills and musicality that catch your attention the most...He is like a nuclear blast -- small but powerful. With his ability to take his body off axis left and right, he is a bit of a magician...That young lad just speaks skating. And his intricacies with the blade and the manipulation of how he turns left and right and changes directions. His concentration going down through the leg into the blade is kinda like Scott Hamilton -- he's never not talking to the blade. (Kurt Browning)

--He's a wonderful skater and an attractive looking guy. He's such a great guy, I can't say enough about him. He's super. (Chris Howarth)

--I think Shoma grew up with my mother and father giving him a lot of love. (Itsuki)

--Sometimes you get people you really like, and you are entirely happy to help them. Even if we don't speak English, his personality is such that even if you are in a bad mood, he puts you in a better mood. He is bright, like good weather. (Alex Ouriashev)

--The other day, he came up to me and Scott and said "Please give me skating advice", but there's hardly any other skaters out there with such beautiful skating, his skating technique is superb. He has such outstanding skating skills that there wasn't really anything for us to advise him on. So I replied to him "We'd like to learn skating from you." (Tessa Virtue)

--His basic skating is so exemplary. And so beautiful. The way he utilizes the ice and gets deep into the ice, there’s a relaxed quality about his skating. Knowing Shoma personally, he’s quite a sleepy and shy character but he really comes alive when he’s on the ice. (Johnny Weir)

--The way he takes his crossovers across the ice—there’s this smoothness and you just feel all the great qualities skating has to offer in general—power, gliding across the ice with the wind in your face. There are always a few skaters that make me want to go lace up my skates and get on the ice, and that is Shoma. (Tara)

--His eyes were all sparkly and full of dreams (at age 14, Junior Olympics)…I see no limits! (Coach Stephane)
