Congrats to our FIVE time National champ. Very proud of Mr. Combos! A couple.jump issues and the timing issue but hey -- the end result is awesome! What a schedule he had! To Canada, back to Japan, to Italy, back to Japan. That's a lot of flying and jet lag for old man Sho! He still managed to shine like a diamond! Couldn't be prouder! :points: :hap10: :points: :hap10: :points: :hap10: :points: :hap10:

Worlds but no 4CC for the Prince. Sorta what I expected, but I was still holding out hope. Darn. Guess I better cancel my hotel reservation!

If I had made reservations, I would have kept them for the sake of seeing Kao and Koshiro again. I'm kind of glad I didn't make any in the first place, though! 😁 It's going to be good to see Shoma at Worlds, I'll try to report on what happens when it happens!

Kind of puzzles me how Shoma got so far off the music, but I am incredibly proud that Shoma finally did all the combos! 👏 (It's interesting that he did the two 4T combos as well as the 3A+2A+2A sequence instead of the 3A+3F combo discussed previously...was there some mental math going on here?)

I would keep the reservation, Arriba. There will be lots of marvellous skating from the Japanese boys and Junhwan.
There will no doubt be some great skating. I need to cool it a bit though. I went to 4 competitions in 2022, and I need to.recover a bit financially. I knew I would only go if Shoma went. It's a VERY convenient set up too with a bunch of hotels right within walking distance of the arena. Wahhh!. I wonder if Shoma is disappointed or relieved that he didn't get chosen. :console: :ghug:

I'm sure Shoma would have gone if he had been chosen...but I can totally understand why he wasn't chosen, given the depth of Japanese talent. :console:

Congratulation to Shoma (and Stephane) for winning the fifth National Title!!! His skating is always superb, although I'm a little sorry that he finished so late, the ending position lost its perfect charme... anyway, he now can rest a bit and prepare himself for the WORLDS!

Congratulations Champion Shoma and Team Champ-ery! Haven't seen the FS yet but from what I am reading he did well and did his combos. Congratulations-2022 has been good to Shoma and he has been good to his fans.

To Koshiro-so glad to see his progress. He's so pleasant and he's built for skating.

On to World's and 4CC for the team. Coach Stephane is a treasure to skating.

Team Switzerland made it 😭 :jump:

I had to leave during Sena's FS but managed to record the rest including interview, ceremony, lots of backstage and the TV analysis etc, lots of fluff, also some older things.
Anyone interested, PM me and I'll send you the link.

So I watched on my "own demand" and did not look up anything before. It was magical :dance3::dbana:😲🥺
After the SP I thought, 13 points is just kind of save, esp. for a skater like Shoma.
And despite mistakes he just 💥that difference 🚀

There's just too many pics and stuff already to post it all, esp. with the limit. I try to stick to only two. Argh.

LOVE this pic:

and yes - what are they doing? :dbana:

my initial thoughts on this was him saying "Hey, the muscles that hurt the least must be your cheeks cause you rarely use them" 🤣

I love how the crowd roared at the end of the 3A2A2A, even though they're technically not allowed too. But understandable, I would yell too!!!

Also that makes me think: has anyone else completed a three axels jump sequence this season or is Shoma the first one to do it?

I don't think so, at least skatingscores does not show a 3A+2A+2A.

btw his was 16.06 (x)/ 18.12
this season, there weren't a lot of higher scores, only
Ilias 4Lz+1Eu+3S (x) with BV 17.93 (SkAm)

and in total scores only
another 4Lz+1Eu+3S (x) of Ilia with 18.31 (GPF, which had a lower BV :scratch2: )

I thought I read somewhere that Steph told him in the first half he looked really worried? nervous? and he was sort of teasing him. I know we've all been reading so much stuff I'd probably never be able to find the comments again. He got off to a shaky start, so I understand the look on his face. However, he did get better and better as things went along!
