The interview with the gamer Shogun, when Shoma said he doesn't see himself competing until the next Olympics...does this mean that the upcoming season may be his last? I really hope not. What would we do without our marvellous Shoma lighting up the ice? I am worried by this. 😪
Maybe. Maybe not. It all depends on Shoma. He doesn’t have to push for another Olympic cycle if he doesn’t want to. All skaters have to retire at some point from competing at that level. But just because he might retire after next season or the season after that doesn’t mean we won’t see or hear from him anymore. He may decide to go Pro like so many other skaters. Maybe he’ll do commentary, coach, edit program music… there is so much he can do to stay connected in the world of figure skating. Or he could do something completely unrelated to figure skating. Whatever he decides for himself will be right. All his fans will miss him competing when he eventually retires but he’ll still be around.

He looks cute even doing something as simple as walking in the rain! :points: And he's talking about vegetables?!
🌶🌽🥒 🍅🥕🥔🥜🍆🥒

The narrator says "He has become able to eat vegetables!" and Shoma says something about vegetables tasting good with meat, though I can't understand 100% of what he's saying. It's good that he seems happy about this (and isn't just seeing vegetables as a medicine)! This vegetable-eating fan is proud of him. 🥲

He could also start gaming full time 😄

Shoma has officially withdrew from World Team Trophy.
Reason given was right ankle injury that will take 2 weeks to heal, as per April 10.
He also provided an official comment on the announcement, but I will wait for translation!

Rest well Shoma ❤️ You deserve it.

Sigh. Well, the moffs will be happy to spend a little extra time with Sho. I started it at the point where Sho is with the puppies. But the first part with the puppies at a restaurant is really cute! Wish we had dog-friendly restaurants around here! Uh oh, we see his foot at the end?!

Google Translate gives the following regarding Sho's condition: (from tokyo-sports.co.jp

The Japan Skating Union announced on the 10th that Masama Uno (25 = Toyota Motor Corporation), who had been selected to represent the world figure skating competition (opening on the 13th, Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium), will not participate. He suffered ligament and cartilage injuries in his right ankle and will require two weeks of treatment and recuperation.

Uno won his second consecutive World Championship title last month. However, he injured his right ankle during official training and was worried about his condition. "Since I injured my right ankle during the World Championships, which had hurt me for a long time, I have been doing my best to train and treat for the national competition, but I have not been able to return to the competitive level, and I have come to the very disappointing conclusion that I will not be able to participate," Uno said through the federation.

He added, "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to the fans who were looking forward to the competition and the many people involved in the tournament. I will continue to work hard every day to further grow as a competitor so that you can continue to support me for the next season."

Shun Sato will compete.

OMG, would you just LOOK at those little fluffernutters?

I’ll miss Shoma at WTT but am very glad that he has decided to take it easy and rest his ankle. Skating on it at Worlds was risky enough; who knows what could happen if he pushed himself any more this season?

I'm relieved. I was worried he was going to force it and possibly make the injury even worse. WTT is not worth risking his health for - and I still have some trauma left from the 2021 WTT I suppose 😄

What he's suffering from according to Unowan is a posterior ankle impingement syndrome. It's caused by repeated compression/pinching of the soft tissues in the back of the ankle joint. So no ligament tears (or stress fractures, phew) which is good news to me. I just hope he'll be able to fully recover now without any further problems. He had worked hard!
Now he can also end his season on a high note, undefeated! 😁

Thank you for your insight Doc! I immediately thought stress fracture. Maybe we can have a Sho prayer circle for his ankles, feet, and any other necessary items! LOL!

I read somewhere on Twitter (was it from you, Vilya?) that the WTT rules have a clause in them that prohibits people who withdraw from WTT from participating in ice shows for an unspecified period of time...Is that clause even enforced? I do hope that Shoma gets to live his anime dreams...after he rests and recovers. Heal up, my sweet little legend. 💕

It takes my breath away when I see his record! :points: Through nagging and sometimes painful injuries, he can truly say he has always given it his all. Withdrawing has never been part of his vocabulary. I'm so proud of our warrior and hope he has time to heal well. :thank:
Thank you for your dedication, Sho!

^^^ I believe withdrawing for a proven injury skaters are exempt from that rule. This withdrawal
will not affect Sho's upcoming shows.

Get well soon Shoma you will be missed at WTT!:ghug:

Here's my tweet about it:

"The Skater/Couple withdrawn for any reason, including injury or illness, cannot take part in any skating event until the date decided and published by the ISU."

So unfortunately even injuries do count here. But honestly I don't think Shoma needs to worry. I've understood this rule mostly applies to SOI which always happens close to WTT, so that if you'd withdraw from WTT you wouldn't be able to do SOI right after (which has apparently happened in the past). Shoma already appeared at SOI and his next show is in May, which is past his reported recovery period - I find it hard to believe ISU would limit his appearance there.

Re: shows, I hope Shoma will be able to withdraw from those as well IF he and his coaches and doctors think it's necessary,

Of course that would be very disappointing for fans, but IMO his health has to be the #1 priority. Better for him to skip a few events now than to continue skating on his injured ankle and risk long-term damage. (Same goes for any skater with any injury!)

Take good care of yourself, Shoma; come back even better and stronger! ❤️
