He fought for the triple toe! Even if it's under, hehehe. But I'm happy to see it because ahhh another beautiful performance I can rewatch!

I think the SP has improved too from Cup of China. It's odd to say this because Shoma usually is a skater who is more "grounded" in style, but he feels weightless throughout. Just... more than smooth, more than floating. Weightless. Which is a good match for this program.

Also I need to share this tidbit that was written in the NHK Trophy Program Booklet that audience can get at the competition:

Good job by Sho, and I love that he went charging into the 4T-3T, even if he did end up getting a deduction on it. At least he didn't shy away from it. The program is growing on me more and more. Like the new costume. A quick look at the protocols shows that Yuma is ahead by about 5 points, and the 5 point difference is in the single quad and quad combo. I thought overall, he looked more comfortable with the program than he did at CoC,

Sho is a great free program skater, so the free should be a battle royale. I may have to be screaming into my pillow during this one...Very enjoyable (oops -- I only watched the second group. Will watch first group later). It truly is a Yuma / Sho battle. All the others were in the 80s range. It will be interesting to see who comes away with the bronze.

Oh no! He's starting already! :laugh2: I love him. His comments during an after-skate interview. He will always give credit where he feels credit is due.

``Everyone may say, ``Ah, that's a shame'' (for second place), but I think Yuma-kun was just amazing, and I was just average.''

Cool comment from someone who saw him live.

I love his attitude about the 4T3T-you asked for it, I delivered, how do you like me now?

What a sublime skate. The FS should be amazing when he has room to breathe and perform.

I read that he was happy with his performance and I'm happy with it too. His sportsmanship is excellent having scored 100 with no complaints about the score but just praise for his competitor's amazing performance. Gotta love him as an artist and a gentleman. The program has been elevated and it shows. Looking forward to the FS.

Kind remarks from Inside Skating. (Additional remarks when you open it up and read the replies)

So what is the difference between 4T-3T and 4T-2T. If the scale of values I looked at was the current one:
--9.50+ 4.20 with the 3T (score 13.70), 9.50+ 1.30 with the 2T (10.80). Then plus or minus the GOE.
--Sho's combo was scored at 10.15 because of the UR, Yuma-kun's was 16.41
--So the question for me, is he better off with the 2T and higher GOE? Meh. Who knows?! I'll keep praying for a perfectly executed 4T-3T with high GOE. Feel free to join the prayer circle if you wish. LOL.:ghug::pray::ghug::pray::ghug:

I attended NHK Trophy yesterday and I was exhausted.
It’s very difficult to tell because of my terrible English.
Shoma’s performance doesn’t need words.
Shoma was so beautiful.
Especially step sequences was just gorgeous and I cried.
Someone shouted after his performance that “Shoma is the best.”(昌磨最高‼️)
I couldn’t agree more.
I think score is only the number and his performance doesn’t need count.
He is very special and UNO and only skater.
Thank you for great performance, Shoma.

Shoma himself, on the 4T3T vs 4T2T 😂 English subtitles thanks to shomagravity on Twitter.

His brain works different ahahaha. But I'm happy to see him troll Keiji with this (but also thanks Keiji- I also like that he pushed for the 4T3T even if it costed him points).

Jerrymouse - your English was just fine and I loved your post. I think Shoma's music and choreography are just perfect for his skating. He is so enjoyable to watch. It's how figure skating should be! He's only 5 points out of first and I have no doubt he'll make that up easily.
