Shoma Uno | Page 30 | Golden Skate

Shoma Uno

Who was around for the old, old version of Kenji's room from 2015? Look at him, he looks like a little boy. I can only find the video on bilibili. I take that back. I found the Part 2 video. It still makes me laugh!!! His golf swing at 15:15. I'm dying! :laugh2:
Thank you!! I was not around but I was thinking about the 2015 interview as well. It's what I'm looking forward to watch soon - just how much Shoma has grown from the last time he did this 🥺

^^^Amazing the change, right? He's fumbling for answers, visibly uncomfortable. At that point in time, I'd say he was an interviewer's worst nightmare! :laugh2:Kenji asking these long and involved questions and Sho answers Yes! LOL.

There will be a DVD released.commemorating Sho's career. Looks like lots of cool footage!

Ah, this was an older DVD that has been released since 2022, after his win at Worlds. I do recommend buying it for archive purposes though, it had great interviews with Stephane and Demi-san as well and it's always incredible to watch the skates from 2019 - 2022, a lot of emotions there in what probably was the most turbulent period in Shoma's career. And yes I already watched it 😁

Shoma sounds pretty content at Kenji's Room, based on the reactions of the fans. He talked quite a lot about Oboe (the first program he made with Kenji) and also Bolero. He said he was able to focus on working on Bolero because he had Oboe as the other program. He said that the happiest moment of his career was winning Worlds in 2022 with Bolero. I'm so glad he continued skating and experienced that win 🥺

As for now, Shoma is excited to do things he's never done before. Speed skating! Fishing! Commentary! He said he's not thinking of getting into coaching yet, because he wants to improve his skills as a skater first and be like the skaters he admires.

Also at the end, Kenji asked Shoma to give a score from 0 to 100 for his competitive career, and Shoma gave himself a score of 120. He has no regrets, and he was glad that he was able to practice so hard that he had no regrets about it, even the moments where he failed. It was such a nice way to end it, knowing that he's satisfied with what he has achieved in competition and is able to appreciate himself and his work.

This was so funny 🤭

Shoma: "I made a lot of mistakes, but those experiences always came in handy later on. I don't have any regrets because I believe that if I work hard in the future, my mistakes won't end as mistakes."

Kenji: "That was so cool. Can we just say that I said that?" 🤣

Oh also Shoma talked about how his 4F was certified by the Guiness World Records. It seems that it has more steps in the procedure than fans expected, and one of it was he /had/ to jump and land it at Japan Open 2016. And he did! He was presented with the certificate there.

I'm not sure whether this is a fan reaction / impression of Shoma's interview with Kenji, but it seems that back then, when Shoma was still very shy and didn't talk much when interviewed, he was thinking about "what should he do as an athlete" or "what should he say" which makes him think a lot about what he's supposed to do in interviews and wasn't able to express himself more openly. Obviously that has changed, and it really showed in the interview.

@rabidline Thx for the correction on the DVD. It clearly says 2022. I think I got so excited with the wonderful You Tube that I didn't even see the date!

Thx for the details on the Kenji interview. Why can I just not picture him fishing?! LOL. 🎣 🐟

Adding: What I like about this interview is that they are discussing different things. Poor Sho, the other stuff was starting to get so repetitive. It seemed like everyone kept asking him the same questions. Enough splitting hairs! Get on to some new stuff -- like fishing!!!!

The flower bouquet presented by Kenji to Shoma before their interview. The colors are on purpose- they are the colors of the costumes of certain programs in certain year. Can you guess which costumes and programs? 🥰

It is! Well, Kenji was in his full "tribute to this legendary skater" mode at Shoma (hence the bouquet) so there wasn't that much comedic content, but it was nice that Shoma can talk about other stuff even though it is still retirement related lol 🤣

Oh my gosh. Jun is doing Loco for his FS! We knew sooner or later someone would. Oh my heart! Sho's version appeared in 2026-2017. A short clip of Jun if you care to look. https://twitter.com/bluelightskate/status/1836375970564973049?s=19

Adding: They're killing us from all sides! :laugh2: Jason is doing Spiegel for his FS, we saw Shun do Ladies in Lavender. Now Loco. What's next? Stairway to Heaven?!

Putting his medal around his mother's neck. She definitely earned it too for all her years of sticking by Sho and pushing him to be the very best he could possibly be. :ghug::console: Congratulations to the whole family.

That was nice to see. Wish it was under different circumstances (that he couldn't go to Paris) but, he has his 2nd silver OM. That's just fantastic!

I just saw an interesting comment on Feimeicheng's instagram. I wonder if this will happen. I remember talking with Oda at Skate America and Skate Canada...Only time will tell! I'm intrigued.

"I think he will go as a commentator since Oda did the job when he attended the JSF's new season press conference."

It would be interesting, but I do feel nervous since MC-ing a press conference is one thing, commentating is another. But I do think Shoma will be involved in some capacity with the GP assignments this year, it's just a question of what role he will be taking.

What’s MC-ing?

I just saw on Feimeicheng's instagram thing when you click on the profile icon a screenshot she took of an interview. Shoma said he would like to do his own ice show someday! YAHOO!!! I knew he would do it. It’ll be great!

It’s too late, but I just wanted to post.
This is a kind of my diary.

I put on a Colantotte necklace and had a UNO bag and went somewhere.
I went up the stairway to heaven. (I took the escalator) and took some photos and videos.
I drank something special at a cafe. (Quad Flip violet latte)
And I just realized I came one hour earlier because I was too excited and nervous.
But it was no problem at all.
I could attend Special Talk Live.
It was sooo happy and I enjoyed so much because I’ve never attended invent like this.
I just want to tell I was surprised that Shoma was sooo kawaii.
After the event, Shoma, Hirokazu, and Yoji were waiting for fans and said “Arigato gozaimashita.”
I go to ice shows and sometimes my seat is second row and I can see his face clearly, but this time too close.
How to say, Shoma was shining.

It was very special day for me.
Sorry for my English.
