Takahito Mura (Crocodile!!) had a figure skating playlist TV program with TV Asahi last Friday, and his playlist ends with Shoma's Timelapse. Mura said this of the program:



"I feel that his spirit was truly reflected in those four minutes of the program. It’s a song that people who have led Japanese men for a long time, and are assertive and outgoing, would never do. However, it is never just monotonous and quiet, nor does it ever become boring to watch. That's because the depth and experience he has cultivated over the years are reflected in Shoma's performance, making it a program that encapsulates Shoma Uno."

Mura also said while Shoma can still land quads and 3A, he sometimes chats and ask tips for landing normal triples since Shoma wants to do it for ice shows 😁
 
Hi Shoma fans, I’ve got a new fun thinker question for you. Would you live in Japan forever if you could see Shoma’s as well as other skater ice shows often?

That's actually a really tempting thought for me, living in Japan forever! I am well aware that Japan is not a paradise, but at the same time, it has a very calm and stable sort of society. I think it's the kind of society that would be really good for me to live in. Then again, as someone who knows some basic Japanese and has a few friends in Japan, it would probably be easier for me to live there than others. As someone who has made travel plans around Grand Prix events in the past, traveling to ice show events wouldn't seem like too much of a stretch. Given the high production values and skill levels of the participants in Prince Ice World (I think I only saw one fall, from an ensemble member's bad spin entrance), I have a feeling that other shows would be equally fun to see. Perhaps I would even attend a single show multiple times, as long as I was sitting in different seats each time in order to get different perspectives on the performances. In summary, my answer to your question is a yes. :)

(If I ever get another chance at asking Shoma a question, I think I'll ask him what his favorite Pokemon is! ((Is it really Jigglypuff? Lol)))

I would love to work and live in Japan, not necessarily for Shoma nor skating reasons: I just want to spend time really exploring the country! My country's driver license is not compatible with Japan so I can't apply for international driver license to use in Japan, so I really had to rely on public transportation when I choose the cities I want to visit, and I also can't visit for long because I have a local business back home with clients that depend on me and my team.

It's such a fascinating country to not only explore, but chill at. Whenever I visit for 7-10 days it always feels like too short of a time. And of course I love Shoma and is happy to watch ice shows but it does cut to the travelling time and costs. And if I work and live in Japan it would be convenient to visit South Korea and China, which I always wanted to go to but put on hold because I focused on Japan (and Shoma's skating) first.
 
I would love to see so many ice shows and live there. While I have yet to take my first trip, I just know that Japan is a wonderful place. However, without having a good grasp of the language it wouldn’t be realistic for me. I’m sure there is so much paperwork for all kinds of things. Not only that but needing to know the law. It would be better to take a few trips first to get use to everything and see how it is before making a decision to move since it is so huge. If I were to just visit Japan as much as possible, I’ll still treasure it. I’ll need to figure out which of Shoma’s shows to see first.
 
I can't imagine going to Japan for an ice show. I went to Switzerland because I assumed it will be the last time I will ever see Shoma skate live. I went to U.S. Stars on Ice in 2023 and enjoyed it, but I hadn't been to an ice show in probably more than 25 years. Competitions? That's a totally different story. The adrenaline, the excitement, the cheering, the gift throwing (sometimes, if allowed). No ice show can ever compare to that. I'll always regret not going to Worlds in Japan in 2023 to see Sho win his second championship. Boo hoo, personal commitments wouldn't allow it.

I will go to Japan someday, but definitely not for an ice show. I have a friend who recently did a three-week cruise and went all around Japan and loved it.

There was a certain amount of excitement to be had at Prince Ice World, even if the routines involved were not exactly competitive. There were quite a few backflips, if you are into that sort of thing (at one point, three ensemble members did a backflip at the same time!). There were also lots of fun and entertaining performances (including a lot of lip-synching, lol). Was it a little cheesy? Yes. Was it worth it to experience it all? Also yes.

Personally, I found one of Shoma's spins to be incredibly exciting! It was during the "School of Rock" number. If you haven't seen it yet, Shoma's portion started with him attempting to do a spin and failing at it (intentionally). After a "teacher" asked him who he was, the "teacher" then told Shoma to do a combination spin and he responded with a cute "Ganbarimasu! (I'll do my best)" 😆 The first part of the combination spin was pretty good (it drifted a little, I think), but the second part of it was just stunningly fast and beautiful! 😍 I don't have enough skating knowledge to know whether that was a particularly difficult spin or not, but Shoma made it exciting to watch!

I wonder, would it be possible to leave a little room at the beginning or end of a tour itinerary to check out our sweet little Shoma? I am aware that tour itineraries are often known far in advance of when Shoma show dates are announced...but it's still something to think about.

Japan is stunning and the local hospitality is off the charts- heck, I go to watch Shoma because it's the closest to me, but I always wish I have more time because the ice shows take soooo much time from the exploring I want to do 😂

Yes, I've heard great things about Japan. Everyone I know who has gone really loved it. I'll get there some day, but certainly not because of an ice show. I haven't gone yet because I'd really like to go for 2-3 weeks and just haven't had the time to do it yet. The Uno Cafe and the five fluffies will be on my must-do list.
 


Shoma made a new poodle drawing (of Toro) for the Uno Cafe! It...actually looks like a toy poodle?!? No way! 😲

(Also, why don't I recognize Shoma's autograph here?)

^^^Pretty good drawing! Let's see how long it takes for the new line of goods! Most of the first set of goods have already sold out. I tried to place an order for a tote bag, but of course there was no shipping outside of Japan.
 
Just to clarify when I mentioned having a grasp on the language and learning the law I meant to live in Japan permanently not for a trip.
