the vote is too fun, it is like presentational vote.
I did not vote yet, cos I cannot pick between my fav girls.
Maybe I voted already, cos I have clicked on Soyoun's photo just to check the stats.

I am checking the vote stats among different states in US now.
 
It's also interesting to see how the young people (0-35) like So Youn. The middle age people (35-65) like Rika. And the older people (65+) like So Youn. LOL.

because the active fans in China are mostly Japanese fans, if you check Zijun's vote, even in China, she has less votes than Rika.
Another reason is that Rika did really well in previous COC, and she won some fans due to that.
Korea is still a very new force in figure skating. most Chinese fans that supporting Korean skaters are Yuna fans. whilst other skaters' Chinese fans have years of cultivation or nepotism,, especially Japanese skaters.

I like how that turned out. I feel it has to do with a lot of demographics.

Figure skating is a sport that tends to be appreciated by older audiences. Japan has an aging population and it is estimated to have the highest proportion of elderly citizens.

On the other hand, Kim Yuna has caused figure skating to explode in popularity in South Korea, so a lot of younger audiences are interested in the sport now. I am guessing that is where So Youn's younger audiences are coming from. I hope these younger audiences stay tuned for many years come. There will be a lot of talent debuting on the junior and senior ranks in a few years.

Personally I am very happy she is winning right now. Regardless of how good either skater is, Rika has more opportunities to perform in Japan as ice shows are much more prevalent. So Youn has less opportunities to do big shows (I hope she goes to Denis Ten and Friends again!) and will have a home Olympics, so this experience will be way more valuable to her.
