Excellent post, Morninglight.
I can see the skaters' style and hear their music playing. Spot on analysis.:agree:

I liked most of the musical choices this season - except I did not care for Joannie Rochettes short program music - "Little Wing". It was too harsh.

TtonyV7, I love your suggestions of "Schindler's List" for Susanna and "The Last Emperor" for Yu-Na. Yu-Na reminds me a lot of Lu Chen in how fully she expresses the music.
I wouldn't mind if she kept "The Lark Ascending" though. That music is gorgeous, and a clean performance would vault that to masterpiece status..
I really like your taste in skaters![]()
eta, I was not all that fond of the Fantasia piece for Fumie, like the skate / choreography (LOVE her exspressions), but not so much the chanting in the music on a incessant basis.

Ah yes, "Butterfly Lovers"! It'd be hard to top Lulu's interpretation though.morninglight said:The feminine piece that Lu Chen did for her last Olympics LP may also be great
Ah yes, "Butterfly Lovers"! It'd be hard to top Lulu's interpretation though.
It was nice that she did not get any deduction for the use of vocal music. She also had a spot where she danced for more than 15 seconds without doing elements when she could have done a spin using that time.
I thought it really courageous and very Fumie
Besides, I liked that song. It's very pleasant, happy, and has a contemporary style. I also loved her costume and ponytail. Since she had a more serious, heavy piece last season (I loved that a lot, too, though), it was a nice change![]()

would love seeing her [Caroline Zhang] skate to the arabian dance.... from the nutcraker. Her flexiblity would really shine.
Her attack, strength, and flexibility would suit that kind of character music. I felt that her LP was a bit too soft for her, even though she skated to it beautifully.I think that caroline Zhang picked two selectioin of music that were too similar for her programs this year. I like it when a skater shhows two diffrent styles in thier long and short. Like Yu-Na Kim. I would like to see Caroline skate to somthing inspiring a gentle for her LP, but mayeb show a little attitude in her SP? I would love seeing her skate to the arabian dance.... from the nutcraker. Her flexiblity would really shine.
Mari should use memoirs of a geshhia for one of her programs beofre that great musci get s overplayed....it's quickly getting there. :chorus:
I think Memoirs is already overused! Also, I don't feel that it would really suit Mirai's style or personality. Maybe in a few years when she gains a bit more maturity.

I actually thought I saw shades of "Butterfly Lovers" in "The Lark Ascending".
