Sota Yamamoto | Page 12 | Golden Skate

Sota Yamamoto

I didn't want to since neither Yuzu nor Satoko are going, and I'll be going to GPF. But I'm tempted, now, since the kid, Mao (and Wakaba, right?) are going and since TEB will be in Paris this year. Decisions, decisions... 😁

Also another one of my favorites, Yuka Nagai will be there :luv17:
I'd love to see Mao live before she retires. I hope you'll get to see Yuzuru and Satoko at GPF.
I don't see Sota making it to GPF this year (I have no idea how he's been skating) but I hope he has a good GP debut.

The first DOI show started 10 minutes ago! I wonder what he'll be skating to? :party2:

ETA:
Sota Yamamoto new free program: Jekyll & Hyde. Standing ovation here.

You may never know... Remember Shoma. People said he wouldn't make it to the final, but he did.😊 Of course Sota is not the same type of skater, but who knows what's gonna happen... It would be epic, but just like you I hope to see him making a good first GP senior season. Final or not.

Nice choice for the FS! So he got a standing ovation for it? I wonder what that means. I'm really looking forward to seeing the program!

I think it's because he skated in front on an audience for the first time since he broke his ankle. Or he was just plain fabulous with his new program :)
He did 3T, 2A, 2Lz, 2Lo, 1A, 2Lz, 2F, 1A according to reports so he's still taking it easy with jumps but his skating skills were still there and his upper body movements have improved

You must be right. He has to take it easy for now, no need to do big elements. Beside GPFrance is still far away, he has time to get ready. :)
It's a pleasure to learn that he has improved as well. :cheer:

He looked good, and I thought he looked so tall!

Same, i liked the second half of his jek and Hyde, especially the step sequence with the music (i hope he emotes more in the future but its still good considering he's just getting comfortable after an injury)

I need to watch it again. I was so excited about him being back I couldn't absorb everything! My guess would be that he was pretty nervous with just being back from the injury.

Ya he must be. In front of a huge crowd too. And his jumps look good even if they are just mostly doubles. I dont kniw anything about technique so i cant tell its solid of what but i hope he wont have troubles or atleast will stop growing when the season starts. Hes already 170 and yuzu is 171 its increadible.

So I wasn't just imagining it - he IS taller. And the burning question - will he and Shoma ever be reunited for more adventures? Maybe not any time soon, since they have different GP assignments. Was hoping Sota would get either SC or SA. Sure do wish him the best of luck.

Urgh yess why dont they have any same assingments! Just one out of six events isnt much to ask for. I kind of dont think he'll make it to the final so maybe if they both do a senior B like japan open? Or us classic? Otherwise we'll just have to wait til nationals which is like ages awayyy. I guess im being a not very supposrtive fan, but i do hope he'll manage the final but i think thats got a lower chance than making the worlds team. I hope he'll get to compete alot but looking at tj men, its kinds hard just as nationals. But best of luck to him!

That is a great program. He really should keep it for one more season. And that costume is terrific! I think his mom helped design that one if I remember right. Probably won't fit him now!

Sota's new FS looks very promising, I think! I really missed his skating, he's already got such good spins and skating skills and his jumps looked okay to me (not that I know much about technique). So lovely to see him on the ice again. He wasn't very emotive yet (or maybe that's just not his style), but I did sense some commitment to the music and the program already, which is a good sign. Hopefully he recovers fully before his first senior GP competition, there's still time! *crosses fingers*

Found this on twitter, it has sota's name in it. Not sure what it is. Some summer competition?
The link apparently shows the participants name and theres a number in the sp column. Does it mean he's skated in the short program and finished 2? (First is ryuju hino) or that his starting order is second to skate in the short program?

The 54th Kitakyushu Open Figure Skating Competition. Being held Thursday, August 4 to Sunday, August 7, 2016 at the Iizuka Ice Palace. From my understanding those numbers in the 'SP' column are start orders.

Sotas’s new SP is "Anthem", probably by Jeff Groban and is choreographed by Akiko Suzuki.
So he’s using 2 musical pieces for both his SP and FS
Sota & Wakaba from today's PIW.
Omg i can't waitttt choreographed by Akiko has got to be awesome! Was kinda hoping for Poeta 2.0 though but oh well. Any reports on the jumps? Did he try a triple? Hope he's slowly getting back in shape. i can't wait for the videos. The song sounds quite nice.
Re: Sota and Wakaba, okay, how is it possible to be so adorableeee they're just plain cute together. Also, why are they in their previous short program costume? I thought Wakaba skated to Byakuyakou?

This is just from the first show (the 2nd one just started) but his did 3S, 2A and 2T (fall). He may have been going for the 3T and popped it.

I think skaters change their costumes (if they have time) for the opening, their own program, and the finale.

Wow he did a triple sal? Thats great getting his jumps back. And thanks. I always wondered why they never wore the same costume as their skated program. I also thought it takes a while to get changed but what do i know 😂

i tried to put some photos of twitters, but it didn’t go well.
So i put some information about him from PIW.

He says his left leg doesn’t pain any more. :)
And his height is 170cm and with 1cm he can catch up yuzu(171cm) and he's delighted at it.
His weight is 54kg.

his new costume of FS is less gorgeous than last year's FS but more exquisite than New cinema paradise.
