Okay, back from a super busy week off, and so much stuff to take in! Sota getting a major assignment is definitely one of my Christmas wishes! Congratulations! His chance at a new SB is back

Please make the most of it, Sota!

If Kazuki stops competing internationally, he'll be my only big favorite left in the field.
My only gripe is the score itself. 238 is literally no improvement from Finlandia, which is a shame. He might still be suffering from lingering back/shoulder injury after-effects that he didn't mention in interviews. Or it's on his Nationals headcasing habit, and if so, I hope he does something about that by 4CC, which is too precious an opportunity to miss. AFAIK, he was saying he was able to have quality training up to the full load, so we can leave lack of training out of the possible reasons pool.
Still, 5th is a very very good result, one of the best in his career. It's also better than last year, when he was healthy. And definitely better than in 2021. He's also the second alternate for the OG, which is also impressive in itself. He's also 2nd alternate for WC. (anyone else here who would gladly attend an alternate WC with Kazuki, Sota and Nozomu competing? I definitely would!)
A return to 240+, 250+, 260+ scores would be great in the near future. I hope that Sota is hungry for more, and can finish his season on a high note
I wonder if he might get sent to a minor event, too, so that his world ranking might get some more boost since he missed so much with his injury? There's only Coupe du Printemps that's doable for him. The only other event in JSF's calendar is Challenge Cup, which overlaps with 4CC. There might be fewer competitors for those potential spots, with Kazuki potentially retiring, and Tatsuya retiring for good (that was a shocker for me and no mistake), so fingers crossed for Sota

- How do you honestly feel now that the free program is over?
"This season was really tough, but I think I gave it my all at each stage. I'm really filled with regret, but for now, I've been able to practice well without any injuries up until the All Japan Championships, so even though things didn't go as planned, I'm filled with gratitude for the many people who supported me until the end."

This is my current ability."
Please tell us your honest feelings now that you have finished your free performance.
It was a really tough season, but I think it was a season in which I did everything I could at each stage and gave it my all. I'm filled with regret, but I was able to practice well without any injuries up until the All Japan Championships. Things didn't go as planned, but I'm very grateful to all the people who supported me until the very end.
I think you said you wanted to give it your all in today's free skate. What thoughts did you have in mind when you performed?
It was a result of giving it my all, but I believe this represents my current ability. It was a very disappointing performance, but I believe that coming all the way to the All Japan Championships was the right thing to do, and it was a truly disappointing season.
There was a lot of cheering from the audience. How did you feel about it?
That's right. Even after it was over, I wasn't completely satisfied with my performance, but...

The men's free skating took place, and Sota Yamamoto (MIXI), who placed 6th in the short program (SP), received 156.73 points, for a total of 238.94 points.
To the music of "Hallelujah," he landed the opening quadruple salchow, but fell on the following quadruple toe loop.
"It was a season in which I gave it my all. It was a result of giving it my all, but this is my current ability. It was a disappointing performance, but there's nothing wrong with having made it to the All Japan Championships," he reflected.
This season she competed with the aim of being selected for the Milan-Cortina Olympic team. "I tried my best, but my skills weren't up to the task. It was a frustrating season and a frustrating match. I still can't process my feelings. I haven't thought about it much, but I don't want it to end like this," he said.
