Spencer Howe and Audrey Shin teaming up

I was watching/listening to the Cutting Edge Podcast on Youtube and she stated that Emily Chan has commented to not believe the rumors as they haven't officially said anything. Granted the video I think was before the rink photo. Link to the video is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qw1EpLgyQ_M.
I heard that Emily specifically responded to a tweet or a written social media post that said she was planning to retire. The posted retirement rumor and her denial came before the Monument rink IG photo of Spence with Audrey.

This picture could be just friends taking a selfie
The Monument rink photo is not a Spence & Audrey friend selfie. It was obviously taken by someone else and posted on the rink's IG account. Prior to the appearance of this photo of Spence & Audrey, stated to have 'trained' together at Monument rink, there had been other sightings and rumors that Spence and Audrey were trying out together. I wonder whether Spence & Audrey were aware that the photo would be publicly posted? If it was just them being together casually to train, with Spence merely helping Audrey out, then why not be upfront about that? Nope, there's been too much going on. Something is definitely up this off-season of obviously major proportions among pairs and ice dance athletes domestically and internationally.

I appreciate that we aren't swiftly hearing about new match-ups. It makes sense to take time trying out in order to be as certain as possible that new pairings make sense. Probably U.S. fed has learned a lesson from having rushed over-managed, and over-invested in the Shin/ Nagy partnership. I doubt the recent new pairings and potential match-ups are happening without USfigskating involvement, if hopefully mainly in a supportive, consultative role. There were several strong U.S. pairs teams at 2026 Worlds, but the results were not as good as they should have been, and a much needed third U.S. pairs spot for Worlds was lost. So, why not shake things up at the beginning of a new four-year cycle.

I've also heard that both Emily and Katie have tried out with Siianytsia. 🤔

I didn't either when I was finally able to watch the show. I'm still trying to figure out if this is just a rumor or fact. I will say Emily did not look too happy sitting there with Spencer and Danny and Ellie.

I did not hear Spencer say that at all during the live broadcast.
Me neither. However, when the audience member asked the question what's next to them, the answer was very evasive and was not vibing they will continue together at all.
I supose this event was one of the reason why they didn't annouce anything yet, they still have some post-olympic commitment as a team (maybe some money to make, like the camp they did in Thailand).

Yep. It's not easy to read body language, let alone casual utterances with accuracy. However, due to the prior publicly posted training photo of Spence with Audrey at a Colorado rink, plus the numerous rumors that abound of a Chan/ Howe split, coupled with rumored partner tryouts, let's hope confirmations of possible new pairings are forthcoming soon.

I agree that this Toast to Milan event might well be part of the reason for the holding back on a Chan /Howe split announcement. The turning down of SOI money by C/H for the entire tour seems, in part, related to Spencer's D.C. military event conflict, and possibly C/H's desire to give a committed team (i.e., Car/Pom) the chance for the full tour, while C/H performed solely at SOI Boston, and attended this Toast to Milan broadcast, along with the Thailand pairs workshop. Such revised scheduling would have allowed Emily & Spencer plenty of downtime for partner tryouts, while preventing loads of discomfort in having to attend the full tour. Another freed up conflict I noticed was Emily's recent summer vacay getaway (photos are posted on IG) with her boyfriend, Sasha Selevko! 🏖🌞🌈

For sure, Spencer's solo remarks on the Toast to Milan broadcast, did not seem to include a commitment to Emily, who was sitting next to Spence somewhat awkwardly. Plus, Emily did not get a chance to individually answer the specific query responded to by Spencer. 😏 The entire NBC event (supported and sponsored by USfigsk) was apparently kept controlled, lighthearted, short & sweet, with brief, highly selective audience queries and even briefer skater replies.

For clarity, re what was said in the Toast to Milan thread. The OP @SmileHappy34, briefly summarized personal impressions of the broadcast, stating that his/her "read" is that "Spencer and Emily parted ways." No one in that thread said that Spencer confirmed he'd broken up with Emily.

I heard that Emily specifically responded to a tweet or a written social media post that said she was planning to retire.
To update: I saw what Emily actually posted on IG to rebut specific speculation that she was retiring. Emily, who uses 'chopstickspin' as her IG moniker, weeks ago posted a retirement denial in response to a fan comment in a fs partner split news thread on the fs.skatingstan account.

IF it's just a rumor, why wouldn't one of them say something on social media that they're still together, etc. The lack of any specific comments about their future as a pair is very telling. They must have heard the rumors and all the speculation.

No surprise, again 😂

While their program music choices are often used war horses (Clair de Lune sp; Romeo & Juliet fp), it will be interesting to discover which versions of these music classics they have chosen. Because they did not have a lot of lead time for program creation and obtaining music rights is not an easy process, it is understandable why they went the classic war horses route.

I'm happy for Audrey & Spencer, and I wish them success in their new partnership. ❤️

In terms of height difference, Emily Chan is 5' 3", and Audrey is 5' 2", so not much difference there. Spencer is 6 ft even.
