Super Bowl!

I have yet to see a riveting half-time show--usually that's the time to get the nachos going!

I doubt it would sell commercial spots, but I would love to see a (dare I say it) profile on what it takes to prepare for the Super Bowl--the TV crew, city preparations, how the commercial spots are sold, etc.

Judging by the responses on this thread I am guessing I am the odd combination of a rabid football fan/rabid figure skating fan:\
I wouldn't want to live without either sport!

I miss traditional half-time shows....bands marching to John Phillips Souza, baton twirlers, letter girls.........the music chosen at the high school level now are obscure, unrecognizable pieces that only serve to allow the audience a "bathroom break".....sad but true............42

Actually, I don't know what the NFL expected to get when hiring MTV. All they had to do was check out 90% of the music videos aired to know what they would be getting.:\

general thoughts

Living in Patriot territory I watched parts of the game. I turned it off at 29-23. With 3 mins remaining. Wish I had watched longer for the drama that ensued. Boston had a huge parade for them.

If a Boston team (only 1) could win this year I wish it coulda been the Red Sox in the series.

The 68 thousand Arena reminded me of men watching slaves fight in Rome. They say man is the same physically as 10,000 years ago. I believe it.

Janet Jackson is a minor talent like Madonna and Spears. And now she is needing to show her great big boobs to get attention. I wondered if she was competing with Michael again for notoriety. A lot of people round the country were appalled and I read the Network was deluged with angry callers.

Josh Groban and Beyonce were the only real singing talent there. His voice is majestic, a true gift.

At first I thought Beyonce was actually going to do a good job, but then she let me down. Why can't they just hold a note? Thats the one song I wish was always sung as it was intended.

The whole halftime thing has been discussed to death online, and wouldn't you know it, we prudes should just shut up. I mean so what? Impressionable kids saw a man tear off a woman's top, exposing her breast. Nothing wrong with that, right :sheesh:

I would take the marching bands over the high dollar talent. High schools or a college, I'm sure, would love and appreciate the opportunity for such a gig.
