well to me speed is not just about having strong thighs and great cardio... it's about having good quality stroking and effortless glide which I think is important in figure skating. I want better edges from everyone too.We disagree there. I think since it's dance, I think attention to dancing is of higher importance than speed. I am fine with giving credit for edges.
If speed were super important in the early 1980's Torvill's & Dean would have been beaten by Bestemianova & Bukin every time.
I don't think Marjo and Zach are "speed skating" type of ice dancers which we have seen in the past, with messy turns and so so edges.
Patrick Chan was incredibly fast because of his skating skills. This is what I am talking about .
Yes, I want to see dancing too but for that, the ISU needs to require ice dancing. Right now, the kind of dancing we often see is the type that is brought by Fear Gibson. Posing and arm choreo... Is that what dancing on ice is ?
