2026 World Figure Skating Championships | Rhythm Dance

We disagree there. I think since it's dance, I think attention to dancing is of higher importance than speed. I am fine with giving credit for edges.

If speed were super important in the early 1980's Torvill's & Dean would have been beaten by Bestemianova & Bukin every time.
well to me speed is not just about having strong thighs and great cardio... it's about having good quality stroking and effortless glide which I think is important in figure skating. I want better edges from everyone too.

I don't think Marjo and Zach are "speed skating" type of ice dancers which we have seen in the past, with messy turns and so so edges.

Patrick Chan was incredibly fast because of his skating skills. This is what I am talking about .

Yes, I want to see dancing too but for that, the ISU needs to require ice dancing. Right now, the kind of dancing we often see is the type that is brought by Fear Gibson. Posing and arm choreo... Is that what dancing on ice is ?

I continue to believe that they shot themselves in the foot with the RD they had this year. Nothing about that says “we are a top team and must be taken seriously.”

Their FD is not exactly groundbreaking, either. I think what they need to move forward is, first, better material, that shows their strengths.
I have to agree with this. The RD seems to be all about speed and enthusiasm and not the finer points of dance. The FD brings nothing new from them. In many ways they have the same problem as my Bratti & Somerville, Carreira & Ponomarenko, Zingas & Kolesnik and Davis & Smolkin. They need to figure out who they are as a team and bring that uniqueness to their programs in a way that has not been done before.

Thank you for the reference I was reaching for about speed. I knew we had had this conversation in ice dance before. Of course, then came Grishuk & Platov and speed won again over the more nuanced Krylova & Ovsiannikov.

I unfortunately have to agree wholeheartedly. I cannot think of a rhythm dance that I enjoy less than theirs. It's all go, go, go, and perhaps it's intentional, but it gives off a rushed, hurried, unrefined, give me a beer vibe. I think it is an example of terrible, terrible Packaging and it's hard for me to believe that this is the best Marie France could do for them...

Well Guillaume and Laurence have gold. Piper and Paul are left fighting with Fear and Gibson, Z/K for silver and bronze. THe door is open for Spain I suppose and their FD. Does anyone know how bad or good Wuthering Heights is (NOW - not twoy ears ago). ZK seems to be winnin gthe battle for the next great one over Lopreva and her partner and LaLa are just lost it seems even behind CP of course who want to somehome regain being ahead of zk which I htink is game over. HOnestly I would not have the French so far ahead. This seems almost tragic and unfair.

they are very very close and didn't have to wait for their turn like so many other great teams.

I mean, they are ahead of LB, CPom, LaLa, Smart and Dieck (though I am not a fan of the latter)

a couple years ago, people would even wonder if they would make it out to international assignments considering the US crew and now they are USA number 1 team, within podium reach within 2 years.

The only other drastic ascension I have seen of the sort was Pap Ciz.
Well, with Chock/Bates out, Z/K are now USA #1, so their boost over France #2, USA #2, and Canada #2 is not surprising. Plus, I am not a fan of C/P’s, L/L’s, or S/D’s RD this season, so I don’t see any problem with Z/K’s results this season. Kolesnik is a much better ice dancer than Ponomarenko and many in the US predicted that he and Nguyen would have made the Milan Olympic Team had they stayed together. Zingas has made incredible strides as an ice dancer since last season’s Nationals. Not making the 2025 World team really lit a fire under this team and I am so proud of their success this season. L/L will be Canada #1 next season and hopefully they bring material that suits them and elevates them rather than some of the material this season, which is beneath them. I can only hope that L/B will also be French #1 next season; what more will FB/C have to prove or achieve after this Worlds? Plus, I desperately want D/LM of France to get their dues as well; they are so underrated.

FB/C’s scoring here in the RD is only further proof of how overscored they were in Milan. Here in Prague they were infinitely better in the RD, but the scoring is close to what they had in Milan with a shakier effort. IMO, Z/K were robbed of 3rd place in the RD where once again we see Lilah Fear with the shakiest twizzles in the field for 3 competitions in a row get overmarked again.

FBC want gold at home games in four years

Their score is much higher in Prague for their RD than the OLYG. Personal Best today. 92.74 The OLYG was only 90.18. If you think those scores are "the same" or "close" it then becomes obvious there's a personal agenda at play and nothing objective going on. From the look of things, FB/C could have received 70.00 at the OLYG and you'd still say they were "overscored."

Remind me to not watch Ice Dance in 4 years at the Olympics since it will just be a coronation for them. Imagine a wide open Ice Dance field if they called it quits after Worlds where we won't have teams that have been hanging around near the top for nearly a decade just waiting for the top teams to retire but younger hungrier teams wanting to prove themselves and watching who moves up. But we can't have that instead we will have FB/C being treated like royalty and being overmarked regardless of mistakes. Count me out of watching Ice Dance until 2030-31.

Let's not jump the gun on Z/K. They could fall down the rankings, but jump back up like C/P, the ShibSibs and C/B.

Z/K are way too overscored, I didn't even know who they were until the GPF.

FB/C had a stunning RD, much better than the Olympics, so once again the judges have proven how corrupt scoring is because their Olympic RD was nowhere near the quality they displayed here.

I don't get why teams ranked from 4 to 9 are given the scores they have because they seem quite close to one another. I'm baffled this season and confused as to how you differentiate the RD qualities/performances for these teams.
