Tanith's New Look

Ryan Bradley and Johnny are so handsome!!!

Dee

Hey now, looking for a place to express your "desires" Dee?

Must say I think Ryan looks Smashing in his glasses.:agree: I picture Johnny as more of a white tie kind'a guy though.

How about Melissa's shirt? She has such a good balance of sexy / professional.

I disagree about Tanith looking bigger in person. I saw her close up at 4CCs a couple of years ago, and I thought she was painfully thin compared to the other women skaters. I like the brown hair, though. I think most people look better with their natural colour.

I haven't seen Tanith in person, but I have to wonder, with all these pelvic-anatomy-cut dresses, is she short-torsoed and they're trying to elongate her? My new ballroom dress for Latin is going to have a very low waist (but no illusion or cutouts!) to try and trick the eye into thinking my upper body is longer, without truncating the legs.

I am still torn on the hair color. I just dyed my own a very unnatrual blue-black for drama's sake (it looks great on a red dress and makes my eyes look bigger) so I appreciate going dark, but I'm just so used to Blonde!Tanith....

Honestly, why do people fuss so much over Tanith Belbin's appearance when she's skating alongside sex-on-ice Ben Agosto? I always thought he was the true looker of the pair.

Tanith

Tanith's weight (or lack of it) is disturbing. Take a look at her legs, they are painfully thin. She is seriously underweight.

Good point on the cut of the dress on the hip...needs to be a bit lower (I can't believe i'm saying that!)....much like that red/white dress with the poofy skirt a few years back.

My favorite dress of hers was the one they used for teh Yankee Polka - even though it didn't really 'fit the theme' it was just gorgeous on her. (quality of this pic sucks... I was still learning digital camera processes... and grabbed the wrong lens on my way to the airport lol)

In that same vein I also loved her Elvis dress... that cut is very flattering on her IMHO. (unfortunately I never got to take a photo of that program  )

Also loved her Gypsy Outfit

any excuse to show off my photos, right? ;)

oh and after seeing her hair on tonight's broadcast - I think it looks great...

Moving on from Hair - but related issues

Okay, so, this thread has evolved from Tanith's hair to her dresses and how thin she is or is not, so I will add a new topic.....Meryl's white boots.

Tanith's legs are long, and she's taller, I think, so she can get away with wearing white boots or at least no boot covers BUT, It drives me crazy that meryl does not try and elongate her leg and put the tights over her boots. I love this couple, but every time I see them skate, I'm distracted by those white boots! She's shorter, or appears shorter than Tanith and many other dancers and is long in the waist but has fairly short legs...those white boots just cut her leg line off and stick out so much....anyone else care to comment, or I am just being neurotic?

D

For some reason I prefer the boot all showing opposed to the full cover. It might be the comments of , She looks like she has elephantiasis of the foot" I have heard a while back that stick in my subconscience and I am unknowingly not liking them as much. The Strap covers - just the back of the boot - are acutely a favorite because I like "pants" outfits better anyway. But a dress/ skirt with the full cover on the boot looks kinda of awkward to me. I rather like the whole boot showing opposed to the whole thing covered and / or the just ankle covers - be with the strap or just pulled down around the top of the boot - I like it.

But I do agree the illusion of hight is conveyed more when the boot os covered. I just don't like it as much. For some odd reason I like the white boots sticking out some were or totally. But as I tried to say, Meryl would appear taller.

This is acutely a pet peeve of my Mom's when she watches, she does not like the boot covered at all. But she did suggest that she thinks it might look better if the cover was not a part of the tights, just fits the boot. The line or break between the boot and leg would be there giving an explanation for the "suddenly giant foot."

I do see why there are different opinions on what is liked on a individual bases in regard to that. I see benefit of "a look" in both directions regarding this topic.

SeaniBu - Normally, I prefer the all white boots look as well. (I DO NOT like the nude boots AT ALL) But, in some cases the tights over the boot looks better. Oddly enough, this preference is random. I might like the white boots on a skater wearing dress 1 but with dress 2, I hate it. So, theres not rhyme or rule with me.

I DO NOT like it when skaters have their tights cover only the top part of the boot - just the laces - at least in comp.. It looks slouchy to me and very casual. I noticed that Rachel Flatt does this and I really dislike it. I also don't like it when for comp.'s they pull the tights down over the top of the skate and hook them under the heel. There is something not right about it. Bebe was like that this year with her pants look. I generally don't like pants for comp. Practice is fine.

However, I can appreciate the funny look of elephant feet when the boots are covered. I think it really depends on the skater, the length of the leg, the actual size and curvature of the leg, the dress and how chunky the boots are. Some boots are just chunkier than others...Klingbiels are that way - at least some of them are.

Great explanation, I wish I could do that. I agree.

Most of the time I don't like nude boot covers - but I do like nude boots, but there again not always - but as you say, it does depend ultimately on the entire outfit and body of the skater. Like nude boots in a panted outfit does not look good.

I have to disagree. I think that just the white boots looks worst, it makes the feet lookk big and if any scuff marks are on the boots , or if you see the laces it looks sloppy. I think over the boot tights are the best look, or the tan boots... somhow that looks great in ice dance. The tights that cover just the top of the boot like rachel flatt wore, and michelle kwan in 2005, are ok, better than a bare boot, but yes, it looks a little practice-like to me.

still have yet to see a good picture where her new hair is truly shown off.

Not new but close - gives an idea anyway.

I think most ladies I have known with that hair color would still conceder themselves blonde though.

A pic of her in the "strips" I like.

Remember her short "cutie" look?

It is a pain looking these original websites up, but I understand the policy and apologize for not following them in the past.

Just saw a pic of boot cover with a particular dress I like.

red?

Well, as a Cosmetologist I must say that it IS a great improvement from the blonde STRIPES she previously had. I do think the current color is a little too red for her complexion. I think a more natural looking, darker blonde would be best because I liked the contrast between her hair and Ben's dark hair.

I like Tanith better as a blonde. When she's a blonde, her look contrasts very nicely with Ben's dark hair and eyes. (Of course, she's beautiful either way.)

This is off topic, but does anyone know if Tanith and Evan are still dating? They both seemed tense and a bit upset throughout this championship. Couldn't help but wonder if they've broken up.

Maybe they're just focusing on the task at hand...or you mean they were like that to each other?

No, I didn't notice any tension *between* them. I just felt like both Tanith and Evan seemed unusually tense in their individual interviews and backstage moments. Especially Tanith.
