Tatsuki Machida

Question to the more knowledgeable posters here. I don't understand how the world standings work so that's why I'm asking. About a month ago the standings have been changed in accordance with the results of this past season, and also for the next season.

Tatsuki has been removed from the world standings whereas Dai Takahashi, who officially retired in October 2014, is still there. When Dai retired I remember him mentioning he was keeping his comeback option just in case. Has Tatsuki given up his comeback option and that is why he is no longer listed there? There must be a reason.

Thanks to the people who keep the thread alive! I've been busy for a while so have a lot of posts in here to catch up with. I want to talk about the new EX program of Tatsuki later on. The new program's title is as much intriguing as his timshell and raises my curiosity over why his chose to name that as such. At first I thought the performance is like a ritual to console all dead souls, or the presenter himself is a bird transformed from once a lived man and enjoys freedom in a dark green forest. It also reminds me of a male counterpart of Giselle, dancing during night and enticing people who happened to witness the beautiful scene. Tatsuki is an enigmatic man again to me. :)

Very expected of Tatsuki to show a thought provoking program and this is just one of the reasons why I love him. :) I posted this about a week before the program aired on TV but I'm posting it again because it's related to the topic and in case you haven't seen it yet.

Earlier I was reading this blog which is a review of Tatsuki's program from the point of view of a fan who attended the show 5 times and had 5 different seats.
http://ameblo.jp/montagnemagique/entry-12022414470.html

The fan says the program (as well as the design of the costume he chose to wear) was a representation of all living life and was something that surpassed gender. A lot of other fans have said that thanks to his hair/make-up and outfit he looks very androgynous but it seems like this was something he aimed to convey all along. He became a symbol of all living creatures and created an image of something ethereal. The fan heard a lot of people crying around her during every single performance - I can only imagine the kind of emotions those fans were experiencing. She also mentioned that he seemed like a complete different person from Tatsuki of Prince Ice World 2014 and while he interacted very well with the audience and thanked them all the time, his eyes looked very distant. Other fans mentioned there were lingering signs of sadness (maybe nostalgia) in his gaze.

Tatsuki has joined the DOI shows today. According to the few information I can understand from Japanese tweets, he skated The Inheritor again so that's one more video of this program (in case the channel decides to broadcast it...). His hair looks slightly shorter than it was at PIW and due to not having much time to prepare he often forgot the choreography of the opening group number  They say he and Yuzuru interacted during the opening and smiled/laughed together, which is something that pleased fans of both skaters.

well, if i remember correctly as you GIFfed " he doesnt like cheese" (i loved that gifset ) thanks for the report, i am sure there will be news clips of interaction between Yuzu and Tatsuki, i cant wait to see video (hopefully there will be) , i wasnt not a fan of lighting at PIW video :slink: and it never hurts to watch a program with different angles :cheer:
i was wondering why there wasnt any report of him for yesterday's show, will he be at remaining 2 shows?

Thanks for the update ionap. Any opportunity to see Tatsuki is precious so I certainly hope his performance will be broadcast even if he is retired and not debuting a competitive program.

And yes I am a fan of both Tatsuki and Yuzuru, so I am pleased to learn they had good interaction (hope to see pictures of that).

He was absent at yesterday's show and only arrived there today. He will skate at both shows today and a show tomorrow.

The last time he was invited to DOI was in 2012 when he debuted his new EX, Les Demoiselles De Rochefort choreographed by Kenji Miyamoto. Before that it was in 2010 when he debuted his first full senior season SP, Dark Eyes. I wonder if this show is bittwersweet for him, seeing all of his former team mates skating their new programs for the next season. I really hope he will be included in the broadcast.

Japanese fans are tweeting that Evgeni Plushenko came out to watch The Inheritor from the side of the rink and he was joined by many other skaters. The jumps didn't go as smooth as Prince Ice World but it was beautiful nonetheless.

So impressed with Machida at DOI today! He really changed the atmosphere with The Inheritor and the audience went dead quiet as he started skating. I read that he fell about 3 times on the first show so I was a bit concerned but there was nothing to worry about. The program was almost perfect except for a hand down on one of his last jumps. His costume is not something I would usually like, but it suited his program and looked very good on him.
I couldn't find him during the finale and thought he skipped out on it, but realized towards the end that he had his hair in a ponytail (though not long enough to call it that) so his hair looked short from the front. I wanted to see him struggle through the group dance , but he must have learned it by the last show :frown:

Thank you for the report mikaboo! His ponytail has been the main subject of twitter fans today and they even made fanart of his look!

Thanks mikaboo for the report. I read some stuff gently poking fun at Tatsuki for not being able to keep up with the choreography in the group number in the previous show so I am glad to know he was able to in the end. ;)

Yes, Tatsuki is indeed one skater that can alter the molecules around him when he is skating.

Thanks ionap for the link to the fan art. Tatsuki looks quite pensive there.

So thanks again for sharing your tumblr. I see that it's already been shared here a couple of pages back. Unfortunately, my PC and tumblr don't get along very well, but I was able to see some posts. The baby pictures are so cute!
I didn't know Tatsuki had a stalker…:slink: How frightening it must be for him. Wishing him and his family a normal life.

I remembered that I was going to add something from my DOI report that I didn't see for myself, but saw a couple of people talking about it on their reports such as this one. The poster and I went to the same show.
The illustration on the left shows that he was still struggling through the group dance and had his hands up when everybody else's was down
On the right, he came out to watch the other skaters do their big tricks at the end of the show. He seemed to have been enjoying himself, but went back behind the curtains when he started to receive attention from the audience. What a shame. I was quite surprised that he came out to watch and even seemed to be having fun. For some reason I thought he wasn't interested in the jump battles so I was happy to know that.

And did you all see this cute dress?

^ Tatsuki still has a stalker, he's had her for probably a year and a half since he got media exposure thanks to the Sochi Olympics. It's been very tough for him especially because of the lack of management so this might be the main reason behind his choice to stop receiving gifts and to stay as far away as possible from the media.

I loved the reports from DOI and I'm sad we couldn't see him struggling with the group dance in the broadcast  He might be the most serious philosopher but as coach Onishi said, he is actually a "very clumsy boy".

I heard he stayed for the jump battle at Prince Ice World Yokohama and even participated with a 3A-3T but he might have felt unprepared at Dreams on Ice.

That would explain a lot about his actions since retirement. I thought he looked more relaxed in the photos I saw yesterday than in the earlier PIW shows though. I hope things are getting better for him.
Actually, I've never heard about Japanese skaters and their stalkers although they probably exist for the popular ones.

That's good to know. He has very nice jumps so I hope he can keep them for a while longer :)

Just read that he jumped a 3A in the finale today at PIW. I'm happy he's still going for all kinds of jumps, except the quad.
