Team medals delayed by legal issue

Inside The Games is pretty much the mouthpiece of the IOC and whatever other global governing board wants to send them press releases. Their bread and butter is usually something like announcing the start of the African continental sambo and judo championships, and not doing deep investigative journalism or spreading rumors.

I would like to swear but don't wan to get myself in trouble here. I have my issues with 'the system' for the Russian girls but well Kamila has the potential to be a once in a generation athlete solely training on coffee/tea and toast and her team should not mess that up either intentionally or through sloppiness in taking the wrong painkiller or cold medicine without reading the label right.
That's kind of why I'm thinking their report is legit in this case. If they are reporting that Kamila tested positive it's because someone at the ISU or IOC wanted that out there.

This is a mess. And her name shouldn't have been disclosed before tomorrow. Now girl must be in a weird mental state. If she unintentionally took something banned, i feel for her.

While the rules say she cannot be named directly, just saying that the athlete cannot be named because of youth privacy reasons when they're the only under-16 on the squad just kind of has to be admission by omission.

Great. The

Great. The article says it was performance-enhancing, refering to the insidethegames article which still maintains that it was not. Fine journalism. :palmf:
This is why I'm waiting for another Brennan article. She always has real sources.

From Russian media:

A doping test showing the presence of a banned substance was taken by Kamila Valieva in December. This was reported to "Championship" by a source familiar with the situation.

"Valieva's doping test showed the presence of a banned substance in the microdose. At the same time, it is proven that this substance does not improve athletic performance" the source told Championship.

I don't know if you guys follow much nordic skiing, but Therese Johaug, a gold medalist in Beijing, was tested positive some years ago. The reason was told to be lip balm. She was banned for competitions for 13 months.
This is ridiculous. Honestly, if girl doesn't compete in the individual event and that something like that is discovered some months later, IOC or WADA would need reforms. I think that either their list of banned drugs is too large, or the minimal dose allowed is to low.

Cannabis is definitely NOT legal in Estonia and no stores allowed to sell it either directly or in cake form... You must be mistaking Estonia for some other country.
