Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir

anybody else get chills when the scores come up? LOL so exciting! Do you have the eurosport SD call? I'd love to see that one

No, I have not found the SD call yet. I am really enjoying finding as many different versions of the calls for their SD and FD. So far I have found only NBC and CBC for SD. NBC, BBC, CBC and British Eurosport for FD. CBC coverage is the entire events. Will post if I find it though.

And yes, watching the scores come up and V/M realize it's enough is so great!

We need the eurosport SD call as i find their opinions very natural and on point. Doesn’t hurt they r huge Tessa and Scott fans and call then the Queen and King if Ice dance!😎

They're always entertaining commentators. And they have loved TS since they debuted in seniors, so I always look forward to them. Hopefully, I'll come across it soon!

I'd like to add my CONGRATULATIONS to Tessa and Scott on their two OGMs in Pyeongchang!!!!! :hap85: :yahoo: :yes2: They skated like they OWNED that rink, with such flair and confidence!!! The crowd went crazy for them, deservedly so!!! The SD was amazing all season and I think their individual Olympic FD was the best MR. The FD needed time to grow on me, but boy, they found the magic by Nationals and Olympics!!! The lifts, the sass, the commitment to the dance from beginning to end, every moment being precise and important and offering us something to be amazed at! I lost count how many times I rewound their FD to appreciate the tiniest looks, movements, positions. It's what I do with Patrick's programs and THAT is how I know I love a program. Do the tiniest things in it mesmerize me or not? V&M certainly met that criterion! :luv17: The "come what may" lift is now on my list of iconic V&M poses, and the backflip onto Scott's shoulders is unforgettable. Every detail came together so well in the final version of the FD.

I also loved watching their reaction after the program. They seemed genuinely thrilled with how they skated and the results were an exciting bonus. I love the way Scott jumped up in celebration and lifted Tessa off her feet in a big bear hug when the result came up!!! Tessa was smiling so wide -- my heart!!! I was thrilled for all the medalists, but V&M was such a perfect way to end the night. I was so excited when I saw the start order. Way to close the show, you two!!! It was the perfect ending to an incredible night of skating. I'll never forget it! I'm happy the judges gave it to V&M. P&C can proceed to win everything from now until they stop competing, but V&M GOT THEIR SECOND GOLD!!! I'm just as excited now typing this as I was the night of the FD.

The "come what may" section of the FD became so powerful. It was a summary of their whole career and their commitment to skating together for all these years. Come what may, they have been there for each other. They have a "come what may" kind of bond that is so sweet to see! But really, the whole program is magical and I get lost in the world that V&M create!!!

Their Ex is so beautiful, and it's essentially a collection of some of their well-known positions and moves. Nice to see the goose lift again after all this time. And the look on their faces when they finished the Ex in Pyeongchang is so precious! Such a fitting and moving Ex for them at this point in their career and I loved it so much!!!

Can you post the NBC link again, please? The NBCOlympics website only has "highlights" videos now.

Olympic FD from individual event with Portuguese commentary (not fully sure about language, pls correct me if I am wrong!), also there is not the best sound, but better than nothing

The video is blocked for me, but I imagine this is the video that was on youtube https://globoplay.globo.com/v/6516348/ You can try to change the VPN to watch it.

I'll try to transcript the things they said since I'm brazilian 🙂

So the channel comentator says it was a fenomenal presentation, an homage to love art and dance, and then the skater comentator (he is the most condecorated brazilian skater ever - roller figure skating), reiterates how different both programs are, but is slightly in favor of the french, because of the soft side of their program. But he does say that V/M presented something very special, their facial expressions tells the same story as their bodys and song, there is sinergy between everything. He hightlights the twizzles as one of the best moments of the program, because of the combination with the music, stating what they were here for, as in we came to win and he also compliments their edges.

They don't exactly pick a side, but the skater comentator does prefer the P/C FD, and say that the shibs are not yet on the same technical level as the other two teams. That's basically it.

I'm totally new to the forum, but love watching figure skating since the good old days of michelle kwan! I always liked V/M, first found them at the 2010 olympics and I have to say, the passion and fierceness that they bring to their skate its what I like the most. I was a roller figure skater myself, and never very fond of the classical programs, I always prefer those strong preformances, who shows a lot of emotions and just make you feel something, and Moulin Rouge is a perfect example of that. They've never been so strong, in sync and confident what of they were doing, and that was a perfect program in my humble opinion.
I also like the fact that they atracted a lot of non skating fans to watch, I think it was what ISU hoped that would happen with the change os song choices, bring the youthful internet comentators to watch figure skating hahaha And I find it strange that what might be the future os ice dance is classical, ballet like songs and coreagraphies choices, when it should go the other way around. Bringing a movie soundtrack to a program is not tacky, it's just renewing the sport in different ways, telling stories in the ice, and this bring people who don't know much about skating closer to the performances, they can relate and apreciate more. I have major respect for all skaters and their choices, I can see the beauty in evey type of performance, I just wish it doesn't stay one specific way.

Sorry I rambled! I just love this sport so much haha

Well, I am kinda new too, but only because I had to re-register since it had been awhile since I had posted.

Michelle was my favorite ladies skater back in the day and when she retired, I started to get into Ice Dance mostly from watching previous Olympics. And then started paying attention to current Ice Dance. I completely agree that V/M's versatility is so rare and their style is appealing to wider audiences, which is great for figure skating. To think they had to really push to use Moulin Rouge, because it wasn't considered as serious FD music. And yet they made it iconic now, IMO. So I do hope we'll continue see variety of styles and music in ice dance.

I do hope V/M's body of work encourages future generation to think outside the box. Their 2008-2009 Pink Floyd FD is one of my favourites because that when I saw how they are willing to experiment with different styles and music.

I came to know V/M because there was a lot of hype building up prior to the 2008-2009 season, since they just came 2nd on the 2008 Worlds. The first video I came across was their Argentinian Tango OD. I said to myself. "wow that is real dancing on ice". I have been their fan ever since.

Yes, I watch that tango OD and think how young they were and showing such style and command. They are really gifted at capturing the characters of the various rhythms in ice dance. Really loved the direction of Pink Floyd. And I don't think it gets enough attention in their resume of programs.

a LOT of thanks, patymarone!!!:thanks:

Re-watching Olympic performances this week, I think that another feature that may have drawn so many people regardless of their skating knowledge to Tessa and Scott could be as an ability to transfer emotions/feelings they felt and conveyed in their programs into the people 'directly', with this vivid manner; for me, in their material this season and way they performed it at Olympics, they focused on instant reaction of people on raw, uncovered connection and emotion, not making up additional time for digesting, comprehending them. I know that this kind of direct intensity, boldness in expression applied towards execution and presentation can be received as too much, too aggressive and suggestive, but I feel that they both designed and built their material towards that kind of explosive effect, not making it cerebral, contemplative or light on purpose. And I do think they totally could have gone for soft & sensual SD and 'Moulin Rouge' portrayed in totally lyrical perspective to make their material more effective competition-wise, more 'paying off' - and more predictable and expected at the same time; yet, they decided to go far from expected or 'Olympics proper', focusing more on building the effect and bond created with their material than appearances. And they did not stop after choices were made - they transformed design, music, customized movement and emotion to give to the people in its rawest form. Was it the cleanest, purest, most harmonious kind of emotion, feeling conveyed? Maybe not. But was it the emotion that hit its target with intensity, energy level, uniting all elements and their presence into something to remember vividly? Absolutely.

And finally found it again:

Thanks a lot! Love hearing B.ESP commentary and how excited Simon Reed(?) was, especially the comment "I was almost in tears at the halfway point of that program..." which describes how I was when the scores came up and found out they won (happy tears!). Always love their appreciation of V/M over the years since their 2008 Umbrellas of Cherbourg FD commentary.
