We got back from nationals very early on Monday morning, so we haven't had a chance to play back the NBC coverage. If NBC didn't show Amanda Evora & Mark Ladwig's free skate, that is a travesty! That was a magnificent performance with what looked like a full standing ovation.

Parker Pennington SP! Plus, he was a hometown boy, so the corwd loved him.

On TV they showed Carol Heiss at the boards several times.

Parker will be in Anchorage next month doing a seminar and to skate in the Fur Rondy on Ice show(s).... pretty cool

Amanda and Mark weren't shown

That's pathetic! Besides, Heather (aka kwanfan1212) and her mom held up a huge, beautiful red, white, and blue banner in support of them.

Toni, we were able to see the junior men's final in person. Keegan Messing was wonderful - delightful personality on ice. He did a Russian Split Jump, too!

Good to hear. I got a lot of PMs and emails this week about him  Can't wait to see him skate at Rondy on Ice! :) He's always the highlight of the night. (Kid can skate AND is entertaining)

My personal favorites, Tracy Tanovich and Michael Chau also received a rink wide standing ovation for their long program. It was truly magical and I was out of my seat before they hit their ending pose.

I thought that Amanda and Mark were sensational! Their lifts were the best I have ever seen in pairs skating! I hope ice nework was able to show their skate.

This isn't a list of standing ovations, but they are my favorite moments.
Dance
Cyders/Krasniak OD: really creative, I wish the IN feed was good, cuz I would definitely rewatch it
Davis/White FD: Sublime!
Pairs
Evora/Ladwig LP: I am upset that i could not see it on NBC. They will always be a favorite of mine.
Denney/Barrett: In general, I love enthusiasm, and I like a pair that does not try to skate beyond their ability
Men
Brandon Mroz LP: It looked too easy!
Jonathan Cassar SP: loved his spread eagle. It made my day! We both said the same thing simultaneously when his scores came up... "Whatever" with a huge eye roll.
Ladies
Alissa Czisny: in general, WOO HOO!
Mirai Nagasu FD: a huge range of emotion, from tears to smiles. The girl had me sniffling. I wanted to give her a big hug just for getting through
Junior ladies: huge splatfest, but their giggles are infectious, so I can't be too disappointed

IN has fixed the ondemand OD! I rewatched Cyders & Krasniak, and here's my review:

Emma Cyders and Ievgenii Krasniak

I can't help it. This OD is a total trip. I had heard that dance is the vertical expression of a horizontal idea, but I didn't think the horizontal idea was swimming! And yet the whole concept of this dance is very appropriate for the 1920's when going to beach in the summer was very trendy.

Here's a photo that could have been the inspiration for Emma's costume:

And Ievgenii's

Emma had an odd blue bathing cap with a flower and a white strap, not to mention swim googles and a sleeveless top in blue with 3 orange/white blue vees. Ievgenii's suit had blue knee length tightly fitted liederhosen with white and blue horizontally striped stockings. He also had a blue and white horizontal striped shirt.

They begin their routine with their arms posed the way children do to dive in. They start out making breaststroke motions. Their curve lift was quite good, if rather short. Their twizzles were not good. They breast stroke off into a Charleston spin She swims off, squeezes water out of her suit, he knocks water out of his ears, she twice blows water out of her nose.. Charming but not well skated. They dry off with towels in the Kiss and Cry, which was

The judges actually gave the curved lift positive GOE and didn't totally hate the spin.

yay for Scott Joplin, and the OD sounds like it was a trip. Too bad I won't get to see it.

I don't know about Joe's definitition, but if a team is going to do something different and interesting with panache, they are definitely a team I'm going to watch in the future.

Whether they're a team that are going to stay together and succeed, especially considering how difficult it is to get ahead in US ice dance, is a different question entirely.
