Would it be blasphemous, if I wrote some of those 7-10yos have more complicated StSqs and use their edges more often than Ashley Wagner? Because they do, sorry not sorry.

But the most I'm looking forward to about tomorrow's competition is Dzepka's SP - How has she managed to improve in the 7 months since the last video and also, how does her step sequence actually look? And of course, Melkumova's FS will be a highlight for the day as well, even though I still don't think she's ready for it.

Oh right, those girls... I almost forgot. Yeah, they're pretty good, too. And them and Dzepka even are tomorrow already, just like the jun. 3 category!
Sadly, I won't be able to be here to record Uliana Vasilieva's performance on 23rd(Stupid Christmas...
) so I hope someone else does.

Elena Kostyleva
The best 6-year-old I've ever seen and simultaneously the best jun. 3 category skater I've ever seen. A serious, serious talent. And October 2011 birthday.
After watching that around 6 times I have to say she's now my #1 for skaters born in 2010 or later. She even does bracket turns. And so much control over anything. Instant braking, instant acceleration. Also, very controlled choctaw sequences with no edge issues.
Ah, and getting to the presentation, it's wonderfully graceful, too. For that age, especially. I like how it works with the music and also how her speed seems to change with the mood of the music.
Jumps are timed to the music. And the jumps themselves are good, too. Judging by her acceleration with one single step, serious explosive capabilities. Which of course translates into her hopefully becoming a great jumper.
Hard to find any flaws - 6 years and 2 months old.

Always a problem finding these too early because then I find myself just rewatching that same program time after time rather than concentrating on any other potential talents...
I wonder how she would compare to Dzepka from last May. Dzepka was faster... while being over 1 and a half years older. But Dzepka needed a lot more steps to accelerate also. In fact, Dzepka does use many more steps to accelerate throughout her program. I think that Kostyleva's speed control is at an unbelievable level for a 6-year-old. And those steps have so much power behind her. Might she have some speed skating background? I just don't get it. For performing / interpretation and connection to the audience, I do quite clearly prefer Kostyleva already. She has many such highlights during the program, with full facial expression. Doubt we'll have many arguments going against this one... And I don't think that Dzepka's weak at this for her age by any means. In 1 and a half years, I don't expect it to be close at all when comparing to 2017 May Dzepka. For steps, Dzepka of course has more variety and higher quality and more speed. But she also is 1 and a half years older. The comparison's very difficult. I think Kostyleva has amazing quality on whatever she does though(Apart from that one bracket turn, but it is a difficult turn), and her variety still is good. For jumps, spins - Dzepka's obviously better. But Kostyleva's very very good. She gets fully around on her 1axel with no need to use any of the 90 degrees of leniency despite doing spread eagle entry and exit. Actually, I think Kostyleva had the better entries, especially the one to the Lutz is fantastic.
At 6 years and 9 months of age Dzepka was nowhere near Kostyleva's current ability according to protocols. But I guess that we will have to see how Kostyleva develops.
Well, there's a credible case to be made for having her as the #1 most promising prospect overall, already. 6years and 2 months old with no weaknesses...
