To no one's surprise, ;)Utana and Shingo won the Japanese junior ice dance competition.

Protocols:

58.74 in the RD and 91.06 in the FD. I think they were looking for 60 in the RD and 100 in the FD, so step by step getting closer. Congrats to Utana and Shingo:cheer:

Their RD, watermarked, but at least available on YouTube

The FD, also watermarked

Utana and Shingo skated in Medalists on Ice, the gala for the Japanese Nationals...

and
they have a new (their first, really) exhibition skate:

Hip Hip Chin Chin
💃🕺💃🕺

From UtaShin Fans IG account

(DeepL translator)

"At this year's MOI, we performed our new EX number "Hip Hip Chin Chin".
The following is an interview after the performance.
Yoshida
'I don't know what will happen next season, but when the Junior Grand Prix is held, I'll do my best to advance to the finals.'
Nishiyama
'We still don't know how the next season will go, so we will think about what we need to do now one by one, and work towards the next season.
We'll do our best for the next season.'
...
It looks like Utashin will be competing in the juniors again next season.
"I want to be in the finals! I want to be in the finals," Yoshida said."

On the hunt for a video!🎉

Ohhhh Noooooo!

Reports on Twitter that Utana and Shingo have split😭😭😭😭

This is a tweet from Shingo:

I don't read Japanese and can't copy for a translator because it's a photo. This Twitter user says:

"Shingo has just announced that he has ended his partnership with Utana. The reason is the difference in what they're pursuing (environment, principles, directions etc.) They had many discussions, but failed to fill the gap. Shingo is going to continue ice dance."

Oh GOD, NOOOOOOO - I mean, "Luke, I am your father" NOOOOOOO!!!! Why? Why? Why? They were so, so promising. Oh dear, as if the split of Avonley & Vadym wasn't bad enough :drama::tantrum:😭😭😭

I immediately thought perhaps Shingo wanted to stick to singles skating. But obviously that's not the case. then what else?? I am really puzzled. Perhaps one of them wanted to continue to train abroad and the other preferred to stay in Japan?
