In the interview Nikita said that the reason why they came back to Russia is because the treatment on his shoulder in the US is very expensive. They will fly to Japan directly from Beijing via Seoul on Wednesday, and they are aiming for the National title this season. What an ambitious goal set for themselves! Wish them good luck!
I'm still a bit uneasy that they want to wait with his shoulder surgery till after the season. I hope all the doctors they're consulting are being super responsible. But, oh well, nothing I can do about that other than worry. Other than that, great interview. Very clear-headed about where they stand now as well. Good to see them praise StepBukin and the progress they've made and also good to see them acknowledge that though they made great strides since pre-season, their performances in China still aren't quite the level they need to be. It seems like they don't have much of a beef with their placement at CoC either. A realistic outlook like that will allow them to focus on all the things that need improvement. And of course they need to aim for the win at Nats, they're competitors, what good would it do if they said "Oh well, we just want to skate our best and have fun, everything else doesn't interest us" ? I always hate disingenious PC interviews like that from skaters.

Russian fans will cry out loud during the National competitions, and I am seeing their hysterical reaction coming near.
To be honest, I am so afraid to read their comments after each event, but I just can't help it! Some of them are just too rude... :eeking: :- Joined

IZ is def the most popular ID team so I imagine lots will be happy
I do think the most realistic podium is BS SB SK...for now
I do hope that the Nationals will be fairly judged not only in Ice Dancing but also in ladies skating. Passionate fans are lovely, but any irrational or extreme LOVE for some skater can only do harm to this sport. Hopefully my wishful thinking can work this time. I have to admit that I am an unlucky person most of the time. :scowl::sad46:
