Victoria Sinitsina & Nikita Katsalapov

Uhhh they really don't want her doing anything to the choreo. She hasn't done any good work under IJS, nothing really relevant since Drobiazko/Vanagas retired for the 1st time in 2002. Her choices for Gorshkova/Butikov, the only recent team that she has coached, were just tragic by the end https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSjUlY5qS90 and they kept regressing and being passed by other teams. She's never shown that she really understands how to work IJS and get teams to maximise levels. This feels like a desperate move rather than a considered one.
Nah I. Should have probably specified that it was just my
pretty unrealistic spec ))))

I reeeeeeally doubt that in this short time any changes objectively can be made
they just will have to perform what was already choreographed cleanly

Would love to watch them live in Helsinki! In general I wish all a fair and good competition. Let the Hunger Games begin!! Today is the draw and tomorrow the SD!

Clean SD today!! They will battle the Bronze with Lena and Ruslan. May they have a good day tomorrow. V.Piseev said before the competition that Gold and Silver go to Europeans and the third Euros spot will choosen from the federation. Good luck!!

Really? That's surprising! And for the Worlds?

No mention for Worlds spots....

As much as I would like them to be in the conversation for Worlds, I would love for Vika/Nik to start their prep for next season. Continue formulating their programs. Get Nikita to heal up and bubble wrapped. With their success and chemistry on the SD, I think they could have a great Rhumba next season.

That's usually how it works but they really don't deviate from the top 3. Worlds spots are decided at Euros. Usually they just send the top 2 (one surely is going to B/S, i'd be shocked if they don't get sent to Worlds).

imo them goinf to worlds is like 99% impossible
BSSB placements wont change
& the earlier they start dealing with the shoulder the better
Or else this season may repeat with them being fully prepared for later comps
they def should concentrate on the next season to go guns blazing @ some early senior Bs

I didn't want to come in here earlier and jinx things... But, congratulations on third place! :luv17: Considering how difficult the season has been, how behind they were in preparations and so on, this is a great achievement! I hope they think of his health as well, though. Get that shoulder operation as soon as the season is over and then don't rush back into training, but let him heal.

I know nowadays that's all forgotten, but Tchaikovskaya did terrific work for Russian ice dancing in times gone by. In more recent years, Drobiazko/Vanagas trained with her. I think she's someone who might have a lot of value to offer, as long as she's not the only person they're consulting. And since I don't think they will be skating to her choreography and it doesn't seem like she'll be the only one responsible for daily coaching either, it might be a good idea.

ETA: And they really need to work on those step sequences, getting level 2 is just not acceptable. I don't think going for more technical difficulty is wrong, though it's unfortunate that it fell together with a lack of preparation time this season, but they need to get more precise. They had that problem last year as well, when the programs were arguably easier.
