Victoria Sinitsina & Nikita Katsalapov

I can't see the Russian Fed giving them another chance next season, unless they have an amazing season before Nationals!

I'm not sure... I do think that they were given the benefit of the doubt this year by the Fed and that's not likely to continue, but I also think that if any team really comes out blazing next year the fed isn't going to try to hold them back. Obviously B/S are guaranteed a spot on the team next year but IMO the other two spots (or one if they can't get three spots at Worlds which unfortunately is very possible) could go to any of S/B, S/K, or I/Z. None of them are having a good enough season this year to be a lock for next. It might be different if S/B had really managed to kill it at Euros (or if they do kill it at Worlds) but so far they haven't been able to.

Dream on, firstly how will Marina work on their programs when she is in the US and Nikita is banned from her rink?
Secondly, Marina is distancing herself from them, that is why they had to look for an alternative coach, the Russian lady whose name escapes me, to replace Marina as Volkov is just a technical coach.

Do you mean Tchaikovskaya? She also does choreography, but letting her do any choreo is not a good idea if you look at Gorshkova/Butikov`s past programs.

If they are forced to stay with Elena Tchaikovskaya, they won't improve.

I have no questions for execution. The guys did everything exactly as they were supposed to do. Marks, which they received are a different story that has absolutely nothing to do with their skating.

...

Of course. You need to skate like Vika and Nikita just skated and the judges’ attitude towards them will inevitably start to change. If now the levels of difficulty hadn’t been lowered, guys would have received more than 70 points and would have been where they were supposed to be – in the lead.

I don't think she's the best person for Vika and Nikita since they apparently don't have anything to work on and it's the biased judges fault for their low scores. To be fair, this was conducted after their SD and before their disastrous FD, but I have to suspect that a much more aware coach would have helped them by much more prepared for this competition. Tchaikovskaya was one of the greats and she has had a hand in coaching or influencing many of the great Russian coaches now, but she seems too bitter and too into the "politicks" to really coach properly now.

Their current coach is not conversant with the demands of COP. When I looked at Katalapov today he looked like a defeated man. Cheers to Victoria for trying to keep the mood light. I hope this experience leads to a more mature Katsalapov. But the look in his eyes today were that of a man who realized what he had thrown away.

Would it be possible for Vik & Nik to go to Platov? I don't think he has any competitive senior team at the moment.

Platov was very dismissive of Nikita after he dumped Elena, basically saying that he'd ruined his career, & thrown all the support the federation had given him back in their faces. I doubt he'd be interested.

You believe no one thought about him before they went to Tchaikovskaya? Being coached by her means something about the view people have of katsalapov.

Zhulin
Kustarova
Platov
Morozov
Zivin Zhuk
Zueva
Spiliband

All of these people won't work with Katsalapov

To any mods available, please move some of the newer posts here to the State of Russian Ice Dance where they would fit much better.

why??? I mean, what is it about Nikita that makes it impossible for coaches to train him? Just because of that Elena issue ?

There are a lot of rumors going around currently. To my knowledge they are not substantiated so I don't feel comfortable repeating them, especially on a fan thread.

I will say, if they need a Russian coach due to funding or other reasons they are probably in a hard spot. I think it's safe to say Zhulin and Kustarova absolutely would not take them, Morozov wouldn't be allowed by the Fed to take them even if he wanted to, and it's unlikely Platov would take them, though it is true he has space right now if he wanted to let the past be past- after all the things he said about Nikita he did say 3 years ago. Other than (maybe) Platov I don't see a viable option for them in Russia who would actually likely be better than Tchaikovskaya.

Isn`t Platov coaching in the US?

Those TES :sad4: Lowest in the top 12 and by more than a point :sad21:
I want them to go back to Zoueva. But at least the twizzle are stable.

The twizzles are stable. You jinxed Nikita :( I thought that they could only rebound from SD in FD but I was so wrong. To my naked eye they skated their SD the best they did this season ... I was sad after finding out score and later even more after FD but this time it made more sense after watching it.

Haha, yeah, maybe a jinx but I didn't tell Nikita to give up on the twizzles when he couldn't catch his blade and leaving Victoria hanging. He could have attempted to keep going but noooooo :palmf: I'm really PO'ed about that not to mention she almost fell out of a lift :disapp:

thx a lot!:agree: Im happy someone remembers its a fanthread

& if people are willing to gloat or bash please go to general ID thread or some other ID pairs' fanthread & kick them verbally there :bed:
thank you

or maybe they need to create a Nikita bashing thread? Go organize it & post any dirt you want :palmf::rolleye:

I don`t give up on them either! In good times and in bad times!!! Only forward and more success next season! Stand once more on as you falls!
yeah the SD showed they still have potential
Imo the scores there really dampened their spirits
ar least his
But tomorrow is another day
I doubted they had a chance for team 2018 anyway
& looking at B/S now who are better then they ever were I get how new SK partnershiop still is. I hope they sit down & calmly think about the future
it would be a shame if they gave up now.

please don't get me wrong - i didn't want to start a Nikita-bashing ! I am a fan too, I was just trying to understand what the hell is going on there. I just don't understand the russian federation ... never mind. I just hope they will continue because I really love them and I always had huge respect for Nikita and his decision to move on to another partner (just to make myself clear ;)

Many thanks to the blogger for combining their different tangos at 4 stages this season into one single video clip, CoC, NHK, the Nationals and the Euros, from which you can clearly see the changing process of this program. Changed for the better or worse? Judge for yourself.

Euros is the "what could've been" event for them. It was their chance to at least show that they are still in the mix against S/B. But y'all know how it ended. :rolleye:

Anyway, I will say that Euros showed how well-meshed they are together if they have the right choreography (THE SP!). The FD just seemed like they were trying to make it into a more cohesive mess but it end up being more than just a mess. (Nik needs to control with the wishy-washiness. Get up and keep fighting!) Anyway, the FD outing winner is definitely RusNats. They were a bit tentative there but they looked cohesive in an acceptable state.

I think he is a very ambitious skater and he was trying to prove at this Euros that they were much more capable than many expected, but the unexpected low score of their SD was really a big blow to his self-confidence, and his body movements throughout the FD routine tell it all. I believe technically they were very well prepared for this event, but once your confidence on ice was gone, your skating would undoubtedly become insecure & uncontrollable. I don't know whether he should take the blame for the whole mess, but the Dance judging there was really weird, where some invisible hands were strongly perceivable. Now it is a very hard situation for them, but I am confident they will stand up again and keep moving upward. Maybe I am over-optimistic or too naive about the whole stuff. Only time will tell.
