Wakaba Higuchi

If she's consistent, which I agree is important for her, looking further on, I think they might go up, just from the sheer fact that she managed to qualify. I am not sure how high though, of course I'm talking about a clean program; I doubt they'll go high enough that she can challenge any of the current top ladies, unless they make mistakes. Alina is already scoring higher than she did, and without being clean.
But she should benefit at least somewhat from qualifying, even if not enough for my taste. She is good enough to contest for that podium, but well.

Knock on wood that her health holds, I don't even know what this season is any longer.

That's what's puzzling to me; Wakaba is pretty consistent this season, which is what the judges usually reward through PCS. So why have her scores been so stagnant? Kind of rhetorical, since scoring reputation is a mystery to me, but still makes me wonder.

LOL, reputation scoring is not a mystery. We all know who has paid the most for the highest reputation scoring. And after Zagitova's win over Wakaba, I don't think we can call it reputation scoring. More like political component scores (PCS). :rolleye:

Anyway, that photo of Wakaba + flower is so cute!!! :hap10:

Haha I was trying to be as politically correct as possible. As in frustratingly asking why it's been working out like this :disagree:

I just hope GPF on home ice will not put too much stress on her mentality. But this girl has mind of steel. She will medal at GPF.

Yes she does it :yahoo:
felicitations and a big **** ( french expression )for the final.

i like her reaction after the competition i did not know she was watching closely the result is a great competitor.
i would like so much that judges and some people recognize that she can be in the mix when she has good programs why she underestimed ?
however i m afraid with the younger generation who arrived (Rika Kihira , Nana Araki ...) and we forget it but she is still young too 16 years old 😊.

Good luck wakaba you can do it remember when all thought she was technician and not arthistique . :hap10:

I wouldn't be worried about the younger generations outshining Wakaba later on. If she keeps giving out programs and performances like this season, she's going to be memorable :agree:

I can’t believe we’re already thinking about Wakaba being outshined by the younger generation when she’s only 16 herself :drama:

we will see for the moment i will appreciate this season because it has all the element to be a great champione.
i admire his evolution.

speaking of GPF , why do people who skate first have low PCS despate doing well ?
I do not think it will happend for Wakaba in general she doing well with her SP . arg lasts waiting for next week .

A good showing at the GPF could be really good positive momentum for Wakaba. Not only for a spot on the Olympic team, but for her PCS reputation in future international competitions! No longer a junior skater, but a senior who's put out two incredibly dynamic programs for the Olympic season with solid technique and presentation :agree:

Despite ups-and-downs due to injuries... I'd say that applies to last season too..!

wakaba had an interview today
http://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20171130/k10011241251000.html

she is anxious but hopes to have fun and have more than 215 points to get and podium.

i think she is capable of it even if it will be difficult . i know she trains hard .

yes last year unfortunately she was struggling but had to skate with his injuries at 4cc and the world.

on a note more joyful i love the nails art that you post solar it seems to me that she had already done for her scherazade and La califa .:se mettre d'accord:

Whaaa just aim to break 200!! 215 is too much pressure!! No need! No risking injuries please  Don't over train!
Waka is still sweet 16, remember to enjoy life too.

I want her do well, but main forcus should be the Olympics!!

Well she cleared 210, and she's very ambitious, always has been. So I don't think it's surprising that she aims higher now.

On one hand, I think this is part of what makes her so amazing. On the other I'm worried she might leave disappointed with high goals like that, but who knows. It's also difficult to say how Evgenia out -> Satoko in might affect her. Lees pressure, because not the only Japanese lady? More pressure, because she'd especially like to be the top Japanese lady? I don't think it changes much about her medal chances per se, but no idea what to expect. I wouldn't expect a 2nd CoC, since that would be a tall order for anyone, but hopefully she'll do well and be proud of herself. And yes, most of all, stay healthy Waka

in the article she also talk about the olympic games , i think google traduction not much help . voila the second article in english i found in tweeter .

i also think that she is putting to much pressure , she had already wanted to reach 215 points for the Rostelecom cup and we saw her result.
i remember her reaction to the 4CC it was very hard but she went served this season
to be the james bond girl we know . :agree:

215 is reachable. Would be a very good score. I mostly hope that she will be clean. Even if judges aren't generous, she have to show them that she's a rock this season.

I showed my good friend Wakaba's Cup of China SP and FS, she was most impressed by Wakaba's big smiles in SP and 2A+2T+2Lo in FS. We've got one more fan rooting for Wakaba in GPF, but it still evades me why she continues to do a 3F in the short. Personally, I love the contrast of Wakaba's very outward expression and Satoko's subtle choreography. Best of luck to Wakaba in GPF, fingers crossed for a 3Lo in the short!

I have been wondering this ever since she debuted as a junior  Maybe she likes the challenge? And I agree about the contrast between Satoko and Wakaba - they're very different in very unique ways!

I think she enjoys life quite a bit! I follow her on Instagram and she's always posting really goofy and adorable stories of her doing very teenage-y stuff, and sometimes live stories of her sitting in front of her computer interacting with her followers and making funny faces and sounds. Today she posted some stories featuring Hiroaki Sato and Mai Mihara that were totally random. Check it out!
