Wakaba Higuchi

This is great for Wakaba!

- It will be a good "warm up" competition, a month before World's...

- Marin Honda and Rika Hongo are also assigned, so she will definitely have some real competition and cannot relax... she will have to leave her Olympic disapointment behind, and be ready to fight!

- If she wins, she will earn an extra 250 points for World Standings. This might be crucial to ensure she is in the final two groups for the SP at World's. (If we believe that makes any difference -_-)

I'm excited to see her fabulous programs again! Olympics or not, I still think her set of programs are the best :agree:

When is the Cup? I am so excited to see Wakababy soon! :luv17:
22nd - 25th Feb... it overlaps with Ladies free skate at the Olympics...

There will be a livestream from Challenge Cup...

To watch ladies Olympics or to watch Wakaba  We'll see how the Olympics go

Thanks to the time zones... we can watch both!
As long as we have enough stamina/caffeine etc... :-D

I'm going to Challenge Cup in person, to see Wakaba and cheer her on. I just have to hope I can watch Oly's on TV at the hotel, or the wi-fi is good enough for livestream...

Yeah I'll try to juggle both events at the same time, if I can emotionally handle it  2014 I was a wreck during the ladies FS, especially during Mao and Yuna's performances!

You're going to Challenge Cup? Let us know how it is and take lots of pics! :) I've seen many of my favorite skaters live, but I have unfortunately never seen Wakaba in person. I'm curious to see how big her skating is since it comes across so well on TV.

I will try to make some reports while I'm there, but I'm always a bit "sporadic" and a bit slow (I don't usually carry an internet-enabled device around with me, so it has to wait til I get back to the hotel in the evenings...)

Yes, I'm hoping to get some good photos... with any luck I can sit on the judges' side at Challenge Cup, to get different angles than I got at Lombardia (where everyone had to sit opposite the judges). I'll also try to be in a different position to where I'll be sitting at World's in Milan. Then hopefully I can end the season with photos of Wakaba's programs, taken from 3 very different angles :-D

Wakaba's skating is big alright! Especially with these programs - she really "projects" and fills the rink. And the music when you're at the rink in person, is very different to what you hear on TV/youtube... much more dynamics, frequency range, impact, drama... it adds a lot to the feelings you get from the programs...

She's not the fastest in the world, but she IS fast... don't believe anyone who says otherwise! :-D

Oh you're heading to Worlds too! That's awesome :)

That's great about the music, I noticed in Boston that some music didn't have as many dynamics inside the rink as they could have. I hope you get to watch her skate very well! I'm looking into going the GPF next season so I'd hope she makes it there so I can finally see her!

I've heard many people say many things about Wakaba, including her lutz is a "flutz"... But I've yet to hear anyone say she's not fast!

thank you yesway for your report, it is me who asked me how it state in real because on TV it does not transcribe what we think.

I'm glad she has a competition before the world championship that will give her confidence. she is the real jame bond and I am happy to review her beautiful programs.

About her 2015 EX I loved her when I saw her for the first time we see she's having fun, the same year she had skate on you can stop the beat of the movie hair spray that proves that all the styles fit him well.

So this Eteri's interview from Vogue. I skipped the introduction for common public.
.
.
To the question what to expect on the Olympics she answered shortly, "The fight". In the first place there would be struggling of Medvedeva with her own leg and if health doesn’t let down then for Medvedeva and Zagitova there are no equal rivals. The main competitors are considered to be Satoko Miyahara and Wakaba Higuchi but they lost to them in every competition like Kaetlyn Osmond from Canada
Huh. According to Sivush's translation above...

Eteri named Wakaba, as one of the two main competitors to her skaters...

I guess she must be relieved that Wakaba wasn't chosen for the Olympics...

I love Eteri more then the judges. Just saying

Ms. Higuchi does not go to the Olympics? Does Japan have anyone better?

Edit: Sans Ms. Honda, of course. Two very different, yet equally talented skaters in my view. Who represent Japan in the Olympics?

Satoko Miyahara & Kaori Sakamoto.

Waka, is eh... busy though? New Insta Story update involving snow!

I think Eteri is thanking her lucky stars that Wakaba was not chosen for the Olympics.

That interview disgusts me though. "No qual rivals" smh, what a fraud.

it is a surprise that Eteri considers Wakaba a major competitor considering his results, however it is a pleasure that a great lady like her recognized the talent of wakaba

looking at the 4 CC makes me even sadder than Wakaba is not there, we will see it next month.
