does any one know where i can find a video of thier firebird program? I saw rena and john skate to a modern version of the firebird for thier SP in 2005. Jill Watson was thier coach at the time... so i was just wondering how she and Peter interprted that theme almost twenty years before. thanks a lot.

I have Jill and Peter's free skate on tape from 1987 worlds. I have the equipment to transfer it, and when I get the time, I'll try it (as it is something I'd like to learn how to do).

Anyway, Watson and Oppergard skated to a traditional cut of Firebird and a spanish piece for their long program's slow section (which I don't recognise).

It was a fabulous, dramatic skate that should have at least won them silver. I especially loved their lifts, the platter with a flipover and the reverse table top with the swoop exit. For a tiny girl and a tall guy they really took advantage of their height difference in this regard.
