The score for Dear Basketball, the animated short film that won the academy award last night, was written by John Williams and is a beautiful accompaniment to the hand drawn animations by the legendary Glen Keane.

since yesterday, a new album of Vance Joy, 'Nation Of Two' - the simplicity and sincerity of those compositions are amazing, soothing for me to listen to.

One of my favourites, 'I'm With You' (not that I have a huge experience in marriages/receptions and so on, but I totally imagine this song played as a first dance) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRR9ExA53Tc

I was listening to Classic FM and they played a newer composition from her new album The Glorious Garden, called Sweet Pea. Of course because the album was released 2 days ago, it isn't anywhere online yet, but I typed her name into Youtube and found this gem instead :)

You know, when I took a quick glance at this comment, I thought you said Foy Vance. And I was thinking "Wow, he's reached Poland!"

Then I read the comment properly, and realised my mistake. :slink:

Foy Vance was one of the performers the year we went to the "BBC Proms In The Park" in Belfast in 2012 (was it really 5 1/2 years ago?!) But, I can't find any videos of it on YouTube. So, here is a recording of him singing one of HIS songs from a performance in his hometown:

And there I was thinking that all the fuss about Ed Sheeran was because he wrote his own songs. Well, there goes that theory!

Despite the 'mistake', You are no wrong CaroLiza_fan - Foy Vance reached Poland.

We have this Polish Radio 3 station which is an amazing source of discovery for me and about 2 years ago I heard 'She Burns' played there - what a revelation, what a song, what a voice. I even posted this track here in the past, I will try to find the post and link it there:) :) :)

That was a great concert, by the way. The Ulster Orchestra; Hayley Westernra (who we found out has family connections to Ulster); tenor Noah Stewart (look him up - he was absolutely brilliant!); Foy Vance; the McPeake family (well, that was the frustrating part, because old man McPeake wouldn't shut up when he was getting interviewed after their slot, and it meant that subsequent things had to be cut short to fit in with the link-up to the Royal Albert Hall in London :mad: ).

The only problem was the temperature! :eek:

That was the first time our "Proms In The Park" was held at the Titanic Slipways (it was previously in the grounds of Belfast City Hall, which was far too small an area for a concert) and it was great. But, they ruined it in subsequent years by making too many tickets available, which meant far more people were squeezed into the same space. I would have loved to go back (particularly the following year when Phil Coulter and Katherine Jenkins were the headline acts), but the prospect of being squeezed in like sardines didn't appeal at all.

Last year, it moved to the grounds of a stately home in Enniskillen, which would have been great as my Aunt lives practically at the gate of the venue. But, I was otherwise occupied. Put it like this: if you look at my avatar, you will see a photo taken the day before the concert... ;) :biggrin:

And thank You a lot for recommending Noah Stewart and this concert with The Ulster Orchestra - I'll definitely look them up this week.

Lucky You to have 'The Proms' nearby - I am a fan of those since BBC Radio discovery after my London training in 2014:)
