Mathman said:Michelle's spins in this program are exquisite and blend in seemlessly with the choreography. But under the CoP I guess they would only be level 1s. I greatly fear that we will never see a program like that again.
To me, there are plenty of sports. Why do we need figure skating at all, when we have basketball, football and all the rest? But are we talking sport or art?

But are we talking sport or art? There's still pro skating to see that kind of stuff (or not...?)
As for the thread topic I think in the short period I've been watching/keeping up with skating, I'd put Kwan's loss in 2002
at the top. I don't think there was another moment I've ever felt so bad for a skater. In fact I almost never do.
This is why I get so annoyed with the opinion that Kwan fans are so against CoP because its believed that she wouldn't score well, even healthy, under this system... which I totally disagree with... but whatever... CoP hasn't improved the quality of skating programs one iota and instead rewards falls, forces skaters to contort in order to receive points and simply makes the sport look sloppy... it's very sad...
What skating moment broke your heart the most?
1999 -2006: (Too many events to list) Seeing the gold medal go to Plushenko or Slutskaya for sloppy performances when the silver medalist clearly turned in a better program
Just curious - could you give an example of this? I can remember both being a tad sloppy, but I can't pin point a clear win over a clean silver medal performance...

1995: Nicole Bobek drops from 1st to 3rd at World’s
1998: Tonia Kwiatkowski finishes 6th at World’s (she should have got 3rd, which went to Maria Butyrskaya)
...and it was re-hashed and beaten to death, too.
